we did get a quick ride in -but before we headed out -while Dee & I were cleaning -now keep in mind that Penny & Skip are the laziest horses ever (!) we put some lunch hay out while we were cleaning and all of a sudden they started barreling around the pasture -bucking & kicking -Skip actually did a 1/2 buck, 1/2 piaff -all 4 legs up in the air -they were so funny -did this for about 10 minutes! On the trail they were both dead quiet!

Hi all,
I did not get to see my trainer she was busy making arrangements. They lived together 11 years so pretty much like a married couple but not. I picked up some baked goods at a local bakery so she would have an assortment to offer visitors. That and a card was dropped off at the house from me and another boarder. She texted me a "thank you" later so I know she got them. I don't know if she will remain at the current location but I am not asking any questions of course. So there are two possible outcomes. The place will sell and Lukas and I will move, or Trainer will be able to keep the farm and we will stay. I will just have to wait it out and see what happens.

AMY-so very sorry about your trainer. so hard. Nice of you to do whatever you can. you take care too. Was the trainer the owner of the barn? BARB-must have been fun to watch the horses have so fun. spring fever? we're getting snow at midnight into tomorrow. so much for tomorrow's plans. Happy gallery watching. CATHY-did you contact the "harp duet buddy"? hope things move along with the insurance. BETH-sometimes a day with no special plans are the best. No Kabbalah today. hope you enjoyed Bible study yesterday
tree company coming to trim and take down branches that cracked off. Good thing. heavy snow coming tonight (1-3 inches but they say a wet snow) so much for tomorrow's plans

Hi, all! Faye, she sent me a long email this morning (at 5am! must be a morning person). We are fairly close but it sounds like she's WAY more involved as she has 4 or 5 harps, not all usable. She only has 4 stairs to negotiate, I have probably 20 from the street level It also sounds like we're working on the same songs through our teacher, but she mentioned "accompanist" so I'm not sure what she means. Like for vocals? Yikes! Beth, enjoy your errands. Are you doing any walking yet? Barb, well, enjoy your peaceful day. Sounds like Penny was have a rare-go ol' time in the field...so fun to watch! Libby, you will get used to the extra time, and won't eat all day. Just have to fill in the time with things you WANT to do. Good luck with furniture moving! Don't hurt yourself. Try the water aerobics! Amy, yes, was he the owner? You sound as if there's a chance you won't be able to stay at the barn. Is this the "winter trainer" you were taking lessons from??? So many questions for a difficult time...so nice of you to help care for your trainer in her difficult days ahead. Dutch, hope packing is still moving forward! Sent all the insurance paperwork via the US mail. Apparently they scan everything and put it on line for the adjusters in other parts of the country. I made copies of EVERYTHING! Went for a walk yesterday...wore shorts and shortsleeves. Yes, it was 70 yesterday Will try to swim today. Cathy

CATHY-good to make copies of everything. even if you have tracking for USPS they can't find it. they just say it didn't get there. Well, collecting harps doesn't mean she's very advanced. how long has she played? Accompanist could mean anything-she accompanies a flute or violin or singer, she wants you to play the Accompanist part of the tune (ie/ usually Harp 2). so need do see if tunes are actual duets. if so you both are probably doing Harp 1 the solo part so someone has to take Harp2 or you can just both play the same together. Good luck with it. should be fun. LIBBY-i agree with Cathy-be careful you don't move furniture and get hurt. When I had a room redone I ended up in PT(from over zealous mopping)
tree guys here. fun to see them climb. getting windy. Supposed to get 1-4 inches starting at midnight. need to get DD tomorrow night so hope by late evening it's ok.

Hi all,
so here is the story about the barn.
First I want to say that my "winter trainer" is not part of it at all, he comes to the barn to give 3 of us lessons when main trainer is in FL.
Main trainer Cindy and her permanent fiancé Gary lived on the farm in a beautiful big house with a pool and nice things, fancy cars, you get the picture. Gary was a big time lawyer who started his own successful firm many years ago. Cindy wanted to have her own horse business so they moved into this beautiful equestrian property and have lived together about 11 years. He was 66 when he died She is 44. They both had prior divorces, and he has 3 grown children from his first marriage. They were very well suited and both independent minded at the same time. Great together, worked out together at cross fit, had lots of friends, but he was fine with her going to FL for the winter and taking the horses. They own a second property in FL. Smaller but still nice. I know that they kept their businesses separate and that I paid my board check to Gary but all other horse related bills, training, actual horse purchase, trailering to shows etc. was paid to Cindy. They did own some horses together as investments, a pregnant brood mare, a couple race horses and some of the imports that she sells on. I do know that Gary's practice was estate planning so I am sure every little detail is spelled out and all of the ducks are in a row. I just don't know the details. I am sure his income helped support the big house and fancy property. Even if Cindy could afford the property I don't know if she would want to, it is a bit much and I think in the long run she would want to invest the money in her business and not the fancy property. This is all speculation and I am certainly not asking any questions. It is not the kind of property that sells very fast so even if that is her decision it won't be for months. She would also have to find another equestrian property to move into. I do not think she would permanently move to FL she says it is boring there when the winter show circuit ends plus it is way too expensive to stay there year round. Hay is like times the cost, etc. Plus she has so many connections here.
So there you have it. I may have to move. If she is moving to another property near by and invites me I may go with her. She might want the boarders to move on and if that is the case then I will sadly be barn hunting. None of this will be decided quickly so I will just wait until she want to tell us something. She is truly heartbroken. I feel so sorry for her.
So that was kind of gossipy but I figure none of you know any of the players except for me.
HAGD

Hi horse lovers, I had a good lesson yesterday. Walked Rosie the whole time - about 40 mins, Heidi jumped on her too to show me how she rode it. You have to dig in your hip/pelvis bones and swing them to get her to match it at a walk. It's a lot of work for the rider and the horse, she was sweaty between her front legs which surprised me as we were just walking! Rosie kept waiting for me to get at her mouth/face when she would speed up (our little game where she likes to fight me) - Heidi had me hold onto the saddle with the reins, so I wouldn't react in my "old ways". I have to remember to lean way back and dig in with my pelvis. She had a pretty, long stride, calm walk as a result. She could only hold it for a little while, then she would speed up and my job was to catch it before she sped up! A lot of work!! Heidi was like, hands down, lean back, dig pelvis in, rock your hips, elbows back, let go of the inside rein, etc........ wow! She doesn't want me to pay her for the lessons, she said she just wants to help Rosie. I have been making her take a 20$ bill each time, which is about 1/2 of what the going rate is for lessons in this area. So, I appreciate her Amy; I hope things fall into place soon for you so you know about the future! Sorry, it must be so hard for everyone. Her life sounds like it will change a lot and I trust that he provided for her in his estate and his kids don't fight things and it gets ugly-OK, think positive!! Faye; Sorry you had to cancel your exercise! So ready for summer!! Barb; glad you got to wear on those expensive winter horse shoes! Cathy; that is so awesome that you are connecting with someone to play the harp with! Beth; are you still embroidering or is this a slow time? Dutch: did you get the wind storm last night like we did? Lots of damage just north of me. I'm so happy I didn't lose power!! The area where Page lives really got a lot of wind! Just southwest of me about 40 minutes. I'll be packing things up today in the kitchen HAGD everyone!

Good morning. DH has ANOTHER head cold so not much sleep again. I hope I don't catch this one as I'm feeling pretty good right now.
One of my old customers placed another order for some caps, visors, towels and umbrellas. I have until mid April for part of the order and mid may for the other part. Since next week is spring break here, I thought I would start on it then.

LIBBY- don't overdo with the packing. take breaks. Sounds like making a lot of progress with Rosie and good exercise for both of you. Tree removal went well. was like watching Cirque du Soleil, they were so high in the trees! nice guys. looks like a few inches already of snow. and more Tues . tried to call the exercise place to reschedule but they must be closed. looks pretty out from the window! AMY-i got back on track but can't seem to get 3 days in a row so that's my goal right now. And I feel better when I track so you'd think it would be a no brainer. I hope things work out and your trainer will be ok. you never know, that's so young to go. BARB-you going to get our snow? it's the freezing temp at night that's the problem. and I have to go out with DD tomorrow but luckily later in the day.
BETH-how are you feeling? is the coughing all over? DUTCH-hope all is well by you. excited for your trip? is DS??
waving to all. HAGD
PS-had to laugh, i watched a Donna REed show and her dress was tight so she was dieting. then Alex had to lose 6 lbs. Then Mary at the end. they kept hiding the candy on top of the bookcase! Guess some things never change

Hi All, I got to ride yesterday so with the nasty weather I am staying home and cleaning and organizing my laundry room. I am going to the viewing this evening. As I am cleaning I am thinking about my riding goals. That "Facebook memory" post showed up on my feed this morning with a post from 5 years ago. It was my second horse show ever in my life and I did well on the lesson horse I was riding.
How am I on my 4th owned horse, 2nd barn, and 3rd trainer? Although my first trainer who sold his farm and is semi-retired is my "winter trainer", so he is still around. ( my second horse I only owned 2 weeks because it was a mistake). you would think I was this flighty barn hopping, trainer hopping person which is not me at all. I would have kept Rueben forever and I guess I did keep him for his forever. I would have stayed at this barn forever. I feel like outside things just keep happening and I have to do another "new start" whether I wanted to or not. I don't know if another change is coming up but I am not going to stop riding and showing that I do know. I hope I can stay with Cindy if it is the current property or a new one. So now that I have gotten that off my chest I will go back to cleaning. I know my concerns are nothing compared to poor Cindy's loss so I will keep them to myself around the barn. It just helps to type them out. thanks for listening.

ew laptop is driving me bonkers...see it doesn't even include all my typing??!?! I have to log in everytime I come in here now Faye, she did mention accompanying to her meant she liked the bass part in some pieces. She mentioned a song that I 'know' but have never played so I guess I'll see if she has the music so I can learn the melody. I think this will be a slow process...sorting out what to play. But she sounds upper nice and our teacher thought we'd get along well! Beth, oh no...I sure hope DH gets better soon! And don't catch that...you don't need it! Amy, thanks for the back story...it's not REAL gossip because you're not hurting folks, just sharing the story and your concerns. As the others say, one day at a time...enjoy your time there and we'll hope that nothing too drastic changes. It does seem that sometimes the universe is perverse and just pushes all your buttons at the same time Libby, wow...that sounds like an exhausting lesson! When I started riding the horse I leased, Bran Muffin, she couldn't go down the long side of the ring without speeding up. Lots and lots of circles...kind of dizzying. Good luck...how did the furniture moving go? Hi to Barb and Dutch! Got in my swim yesterday...another nice day! (Sorry all those with snow on the way!) Will probably try to walk today even though another swim is really inviting I have an antique bed, headboard and footboard. I've been using a conversion rail kit because the original rails are a non-standard size. It's getting unstable after 30 years so I'm going to check with some furniture repair places to see if something else can be done. Cat has a quick visit to the vet tomorrow. She seems to have earwax buildup in one ear...never had that before. Cathy

CATHY-hope Isabelle gets a good report. glad you swam. sounds like a nice harp buddy. Really improves your playing when you play with someone. keeps the "timing and tempo" honest. BETH-I agree with Amy, probably the kids on the bus. so sorry. hope you don't get it. it's been quite the winter. LIBBY-how's the packing going? DUTCH-glad you didn't have problems with the wind.
snow stopped. sunnyish out so as long as it stays above 32 deg. should be ok.

Hi all - Amy - sorry about all the drama of sorts -there is always something at a big boarding barn! Penny is my 5th horse -1st one a QH mare -then 2 OTTB's -Aaron (19 years) and now Penny! I have been a various show/boarding barns for H/j & dressage -and there is ALWAYS SOMETHING! So just hang in there it will all settle down & you will figure out the best option for you & Lukas! Just keep on riding!
Yes to all who asked -it is very cold here (-0 wind chills) and they are forecasting a "nor'easter" for us on Tuesday -amount of snow still to be determined -possible foot? Just when the trails were finally clear.
Yesterday was Tundra's 2nd birthday -she is no longer a "puppy"!
Beth- hope DH is better soon -sounds like a nice order without the "I need it yesterday" issue! That is always good!
Libby - your lessons sound like you are working hard -nice of the trainer not want to take money -like you -i tend to sit more forward -when I was working at my friend's ring last year she was always on me to "sit back, hands down/steady" so when on the trail I really try to concentrate on that.
Heading out to do errands then barn to clean.
Waving to Faye, Cathy & Dutch -keep warm - HAGD - CBL

PS-- don't forget to Spring Forward tonight at 2 AM!! losing an hour of sleep Good morning. Faye do you really get up at 2 am to change your clocks or do you do it before you go to bed? I do most of them late afternoon and the ones by the bedside before we go to bed. I don't change the laptop, cell phones or TV and that's done automatically. DH is still hacking and coughing. Now he can take the narcotic cough med and not worry about driving since he has spring break all next week.

Moved things around till about 4 yesterday. Then my feet started hurting, and my elbow! So frustrating, then I realized I wasn't wearing my orthotics or my tennis elbow brace! I was going to go lunge Rosie, she is about 20 minutes away (depending on traffic) on a Friday at 4 it's closer to 1/2 hour trip one way. So I didn't go, got off my feet for a while. Go

Computer or board froze on me again. I'm working on doing a stretching and warm up dvd every morning (10 mins) and seeing how that helps my body! This morning after cleaning and feeding horses/barn, I'm going to prune my rose bushes. It's not going to rain till noon according to the forecast. Lots of birds singing this morning and it's warmed up a bit HAGD everyone!

Hi, all! Faye, cat is OK, but pooped! Vet visits always exhaust her...and me. Just some wax in her one ear, they cleaned it, checked it gave me some antibiotics to give for a couple of days. Chanter's Tune is the one the other harpist mentioned. I just finished a lesson and teacher said there's a website thesessions.org where they have lots of sheet music. Will try there. Libby, it's hard sometimes to know when to wear those things. I'm going back to the podiatrist in a couple of weeks because the foot pain is back. It's um, 75 here today Beth, I do my clocks the next morning, unless I know I have something to get up for...Sunday's are usually quiet so should be OK. Narcotics can be fun for coughs Hi to Barb, Dutch and Amy! Just busy...took care of the cat, dropped her home, went to the market, came home agsin to put stuff in the fridge, went out again for more errands. Lunch then cleaning and finally lesson. Some friends want to go to local beer hall but went last night so I'm done. Hope to hike tomorrow, then maybe cut the weeds in the back "yard" since the rains have made them GI-NORMOUS Cathy
