Today's exercise options: 1) Walk across the Ohio River (walking bridge);2) 1.25 mile walk around local nature preserve; 3) 20-30 minute walk around the neighborhood. Last night I walked around the neighborhood with my older son while my younger son rode his bike. Both boys are in their early twenties and it was a nice treat to have them along. Meal planning and grocery shopping both on my chore list for today. Pledging to try a new recipe this week. Lots of credits yesterday<---I kinda like tracking them

Credits from yesterday: - Read ARC 2x - Emaied coach - Got in over 10K steps with gardening and stuff around the house - Sat and ate mindfully and slowly (except once)
I had a lot of weeding to do and also had some self-service picking in the CSA when I went to pick up my share. Plus I made herb salt with all the basil and herbs that I had pruned due to their growing like crazy. Then there was dinner and chores. Racked up the 10+K with no exercise. it was a rest day for me anyway.

Rhu, that was a great video. It really helped me reframe my thinking about exercise.
I've been away the last few days, but stuck to the program pretty well. I've allocated a lot of time today to plan both diet and exercise. I've cooked healthy food for the week, and have a day by day plan for exercise.
I need the preparation time this week, as I am in full day meetings and am facilitating a day and a half of it.
Credits for yesterday:
ARC reading Beck reading Made my active goal on Stepbet Caught sabotaging thoughts and let them go Planning for exercise and food

As an adult I've made exercise part of my routine. I feel better when I move my body each day. I've learned through injuries and aches that moderation is the key. I also decided to try new things at least once. Having this mindset allows me to not be afraid. I didn't start skiing till I was 40. I know I'll never be a great skier but it doesn't matter. I'm out there, I have a great time, and I get to be with my family and friends. I wish I had more friends who shared my love of exercise. But music, audio books and podcasts always help. My dog is always ready for a daily 2 mile walk even if I'm not in the mood.
Credits: lost 0.4 ln at weight watchers salvaged a tough week of eating. sat down for all my eating yesterday made a good breakfast choice while eating out did some housework I had been putting off worked on clearing some clutter

This week has been tough for me. I'm trying to shake it off and move forward. My coach is wonderful - I see how important it is to have one - she is a complete stranger to me but yet she always has thoughtful encouraging words (my husband isn't cutting it as a great coach). Because of Coach C, I went for my 5 mile walk and enjoyed every moment of it and reflected on how lucky I am to have a support group of strangers that genuinely care for we all facing the same battle. Actually I thank each and everyone of you for your postings, it really helps to see that we are not alone in this journey and to lighten up for we are only human.

I went to a big BBQ yesterday and had a successful day of Becking. Credits include:
1. Making a plan in advance to keep my phone with me so I could journal things right after eating them. Tracked everything and did surprisingly well! 2. Only catching myself standing while eating twice during lunch and dinner--at a BBQ where everyone was standing and eating, that was kind of a big deal. 3. Spending most of my time in the pool and engaging in intentional activity (doing swimming and walking laps rather than just floating around). 4. Checking in with my coaches. 5. Filling half my plate with salad before putting anything else on it. 6. Keeping myself hydrated. 7. Eating my food slowly and mindfully 8. Reading my ARCs 9. Catching up with the latest Beck chapter

Sigh, I have to catch up on this one. I've been under the weather and just resisting reading both this one and willpower so today is catch-up day for me.

I've had a good weekend. Lots of credits.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with elimination diets. I have had some digestion issues for to long now. I first attributed it to eating too much along with chocolate. However I've cut way back on the eating since we started and have had very little chocolate. To which now brings me to thinking it could be artificial sweetener, dairy and or eggs. I'm not sure whether to cut out all 3 or one at time to see where this takes me or one at a time. I have a Drs appointment in September but I want to see if I can determine if any of these foods could be the problem before then. Thoughts/ideas ?

opal, I do not have experience with elimination diets, but it would make sense to try leaving off or cutting back on the things you think might be bothering you, at least until you see your doctor. If you're still having problems, then try a more formal elimination diet.

Still working it, and still working on my meal planning and exercise plan. First draft forgot to account for actually going to the grocery store, so gotta rework it a bit!
My big credit for yesterday was going to the beach without taking any food along, and look...we didn't starve to death!! We came back to the condo for lunch, so got lots of extra steps there. No snacks on the beach just because they were there. It felt so empowering.

Hi all, I'm late to the party here. I'm a pretty disciplined exerciser but also fall into the category of using exercise to justify overeating. I've managed to train for a 1/2 marathon and gain weight. It is not true that if you run 10 miles you can eat all the food you see that day (at least not for me that day.) Actually, I find it hard to maintain my weight if I'm getting a lot more exercise than usual because I am hungry and feel entitled to eat a lot. I participated in a nutrition coaching group, geared to triathletes but useful for anyone. I learned a lot and discovered I don't really need to eat extra food unless I've exercised vigorously for over an hour. I also think I need to do some more weights so need to check out the kettlebell workouts, Joni!
