Hi all- yesterday was holiday - today just got away from me - yes, I fasted - from 5:30 Tues night to around 6 on Wed -our group of friends don't go back to temple for the "closing ceremony!" at 7- we do our own thing!
Beth- glad they figured out your knee issue -can the shots be a cure all or will surgery at some point be necessary? Ok- no more glass?!!!
Amy - keep looking -I don't know how far you are willing to travel but there are several FB pages for New England /NY etc horses for sale -some very interesting prospects in all price ranges.
Libby -so happy you got to ride - isn't it nice when we have nice horses -like yours - I can hop on Penny if she's had a vacation and she is fine -while she wants to 'go' in the spots on the trail -she will listen (sometimes not happily) and walk or trot rather than take off! I always feel safe.
Faye- is your temple reform or conservative? ours is conservative but really the only one in the area so it's interesting - I was brought up "lapsed" reform , so we do the conservative at a level we are comfortable with. As our rabbi says -you do what you can & it's all good!
Dutch - glad Alie is doing better
Cathy - must have missed the man pool issue - but sounds like it is resolved.
Have Upreach tomorrow -then will be setting up at the shop late afternoon for saturday event . The big 2 day show is the next weekend -over 130 vendors -should be interesting.
Off to watch Grey's ! HAGE -

Good morning. We will be hitching the truck and trailer today. Packing the suitcase and stuff. It will be a long day of traveling tomorrow. We plan to leave about 5ish in the morning and travel until we want to stop for the night. We hope to make Springfield MO at least. We will meet with the lady who is buying the trailer in Grand Island NE sometime Sunday. On the way home we hope to go through St. Louis MO and see the Archway there and do a little site seeing along the way. We plan to be home sometime Wednesday.
I'm not taking my laptop so if I post it will be on my phone and in the evenings.

testing with a short post, had a long one disappear yesterday. Anyone had that happen before? We are having big wind/rain storms that will last thru Sunday. No riding here. Barb, I found the shipping boots, they measure 17 1/2 inches long and 14 1/2 inches wide, they have 3 Velcro straps on each one. If you think they will fit, the are yours! HAGR everyone!

Hi Horse friend,
WI today and I went up. I don't know how much because I didn't want to know. I just couldn't get "into" the WW program this past week. I went to the meeting and got re-motivated. I need to touch base with you all more often too. I just had an off week.
The weekly they hand out at meetings has an interesting recipe for butternut squash soup. I am not much of a cook but I am going to give it a try. It is zero points!
Beth- I hope you knee heals soon!
Barb- The rides sound like great fun. I used to love to gallop across the bottom field and Rueben loved it too. I would start off at a canter and if he wanted to gallop off with me I let him. Rueben was usually such a quiet guy I think he liked being able to run off sometimes. He didn't always turn up the speed I left it up to him and how he was feeling. Libby- so nice that you can use all your land now!
Faye- sounds like you are doing more and more shows. That's a lot of harp moving. How is that going, is the newer one easier to travel with?
Cathy- Do any of the other art students have a lead on another instructor?
Dutch- can you take a photo each month of your horse standing in the same spot then over time you can see how much she had grown and filled in. Near a fence or something to see how much taller she is getting, could be fun.
My mood is better as of yesterday because I went for a ride. I rode my friends pony and we went to her jump field so I did some small cross country jumps. I have not done that in a long time. I was slightly wimpy because it was wet ground so I slowed up to more of a canter before a jump instead of a gallop but it still was fun. She took a video of me which was helpful. I could see that my back was very stiff and guess what, my back muscles are a little sore today. I am riding again today. I signed up for a dressage lesson with an actual dressage instructor.(using a friends horse) I need to work on some things that will help with my riding in hunters. It is not always easy to find riding opportunities but I have figured out it is good for my health.

Hi, all! Faye, hope you're having fun practicing! Beth, well, at least they know the problem with your knee. I think this usually requires sx but at least the cortisone is helping. Have a safe drive and enjoy the site-seeing! Barb, wow...130 vendors??!?! That sounds huge!! I hope you do well! Libby, we're getting rain here too this weekend. I'm supposed to go hiking tomorrow...could be fun! Amy, we all have off weeks. I've had an off couple of months The allergy/asthma thing really interferred with my exercise but its finally getting better. I've gained about 5 lbs and not too happy. I realized that I can't do it just with food, I NEED the exercise. Glad you're feeling better and getting out riding! Dutch, yeah, how long to foals grow? Are they full grown by 2 or 3? Went swimming yesterday and since it was overcast, the problematic guy wasn't there. All good. I met the vet tech who would pet sit Isabelle yesterday. She's very good...and she has a dog that has some of same problems as the cat so it's not new to her. Feeling better about going away next weekend. I hope the vet visit next week goes well. Of course...I probably won't hear if there are issues until after I'm gone. I guess the cat will be OK for a weekend...still hard to leave her that long. As mentioned, is raining today and through the weekend. I was supposed to help my watercolor teacher again tomorrow with her show but she said she may not need me so I might not have to go. Cathy

Dutch- can you take a photo each month of your horse standing in the same spot then over time you can see how much she had grown and filled in. Near a fence or something to see how much taller she is getting, could be fun. That's a cool idea!!! Thank you. Dutch, yeah, how long to foals grow? Are they full grown by 2 or 3? I would have told you 2... as they break Quarter Horses at 2. Each breed IS different - Warmbloods / Arabs not until 4, and they can still grow until 6 -7. It's on my list to ask the Vet her opinion. Here's a chuckle for you: Took pictures for the registration yesterday (in the rain of course). Went to print them. Learned I'm out of black ink. This horse is BLACK and white... ha! Guess I'm buying ink. Squiggle: travel safe!

Amy- that sounds like fun - yes our trails are nice -part of them are old railroad beds so they are very uneven -so that is walk part -then there are parts where you can trot/canter & the horses know those spots! They start to jig the minute we get near them -sometimes we make them walk just so show them who is boss! At the end of one trail is a nice hill -we have dubbed it "QH hill" and they get into a good uphill gallop. At the top it gets rutted & the horses pull themselves up without us doing anything! Smart horses! Don't worry about the weight -you will get back on track!
Cathy- DH just went ahead & ordered me cob boots as he got tired of me complaining -now as my friend says - I have no excuse to not try her on a trailer. But thank you for the offer!
Car is packed -we are setting up tonite -probably won't be able to check here till Sunday night - so everyone have a great weeekend.

BARB-good luck at the show. we have a craft show here with about that many vendors. we go every year. very interesting stuff. DUTCH-yes, you'll need that black ink CATHY-glad the swim guy wasn't there. and super glad you have a cat sitter . we used a vet tech for our bunny. worked well. hope it does for you too. AMY-we all have off weeks. just don't let 5 lbs become 10. really track this week and exercise. now that your taking some lessons you'll be out of the house and that should help, too the new harp is very easy to move and carry. it's about 8 lbs less than the other harp i sold but that makes a big difference. LIBBY-sorry about the rain. how was your visit with the new mom? hope it went ok BETH-good luck with the trailer and have fun sight seeing on the way home
I've tracked yesterday and doing it today and feeling better.

Hi, all! Down here painting and listening to Pandora so thought I'd post. Barb, good luck at the show! I guess Beth is on the road so to speak. Faye, glad the tracking is working for you Dutch, huh...I had no idea horses matured at different rates based on the breed. Makes sense but not something I ever knew before! Hope Amy and Libby are doing well! I did the hike this morning with the ladies Meet Up group. Since the weather was iffy, there were only 6 of us so a good size group. I wore my Gortex hiking boots and now have blisters on both heels. I really should have my feet checked out Now that the allergy/asthma thing is better, I'm hoping to get more exercise and lose the extra weight I've put on recently. And seriously...I should never get rid of ALL my fat jeans. Now I don't have much that fits...rats. Cathy
