Good Morning - Amy - you need to expand on "interesting" -inquiring minds want to know!
Dutch - hope meds help DS - Ear infections in kids are the worst! Is Allie getting a stall plate with her new/full name? LOL
Libby -do they have a completion date for all in the kitchen? I watch a lot of remodeling shows and they always seem to find something odd -hope not in yours!
Faye- is DD coming in for holiday? My Cuisinart blade is one in the recall & actually has a crack -but I need it to make my latkes - I usually shred them all first then use the french blade for 1/2 so I get a great texture -will probably chance it -I have registered for the recall but have no idea when the replacement will show up!
Off to do a few errands then barn -then manicure w/ DDIL -

Good morning. Yesterday was the last day of school for the year so DH doesn't have to drive until next year. He gets to do the laundry today. Health wise we're both back to our usual aches and pains of older age. You know... the joints don't move like they did when we were 20 something and we move a little slower.
Libby-so tonight is Nutcracker with DGD? How's the renovation going?
Amy-sorry you are missing your mom. Hope you can find what you want/need in the stores.
Barb-how was dinner with your friend? Is it today you are shopping with DDIL?
Cathy-have you practiced anymore with the ensemble? How many songs will you play?
Faye-how long do you play for background music?
Dutch-are the meds helping your DS? What have you gotten him for Christmas?
Hope all the horses are doing well in this crazy weather. Ride if you can and pet them if you can't.

Hi All, So far my day off is not very productive but I am about to go up and shower when I am done posting. Lukas and I need more ride time to feel more solid. Our canter transitions can still be so awkward. I would like them to be more solid. His signal to canter is different then other horses I have ridden and if I don't get it exactly right I get a trot but only because that is what he thinks I am asking for (I think). He will also break from the canter sometimes but it is usually because I have shifted slightly my seat or reins in a way that makes him think it is OK. I have to be more perfect with him, as my trainer has said "he tells on you". I should have named him "tattle tail". Once we start jumping it is a different game. He is much easier to ride to jumps because he is much more interested it what we are doing, more excited about it. My winter trainer is probably going to get my flat work in order. He is good at that not that my regular trainer isn't but winter trainer has a way of breaking things down for me that works. Winter trainer is working a lot right now so I need to get on his schedule. He did confirm he wants to come out but probably not until after Christmas.
Have to go be productive now.

AMY-glad you think the winter trainer is good for what you need now. don't rush it , it will come. BETH-Background is one hour solid playing. if I do more than an hour I take a 10-15 min break to walk around but today is one hour. just practiced someadditional tunes to stretch it out since no chatting or talking about the tunes. hope DH enjoys his time off (well, not the laundry part ) BARB-same here about the Cuisanart. pretty annoyed. there was a Keurig recall i think and i signed up about 3 times and got nothing. this should take forever if we ever see it. be careful. My friend said she had a minichopper and the blade chipped and came thru the plastic. Maybe uses the shredder and a knife for final prep.

amy, Yes, what makes you think you're not at team yet. I do that that simply takes time (to bond)... but curious to your thoughts! Yay to simple car fixes!

I have ridden under different trainers whose signals to the horse were different from what I used and it confused the horse and me too.

Hi everyone, I can't believe it, I got another nasty respiratory infection! Was in bed most of the day yesterday. sent dgd to my dd's so she could play and spend the night there. I hope she doesn't catch my cold. Today is Nutcracker, I guess I'll drug up and go. I'll meet them downtown Seattle. I spent a lot of $$ on these tickets! Nothing is happening with the kitchen until tomorrow-I think the electrical will be done then. Next week the sheetrock. We are already over budget by 5K- I guess you need to figure that in lol! HAGD!

Hugs Libby! Amy, sounds like he's going to teach you how to ride I'd say that's a pretty good horse! DS is fine- we're both home today, to be nice to daycare. Omoxyciline for the ear infection. He has no complaints. His nose is getting stuffy now. Just ran into the office... "mom! I ate my bugger!" (ugh).. I ask why... "so you don't get it" (big smile on his face) Ugh, he just kills me.. trying not to laugh! Damn kids lol On that note! Merry Christmas and Happy Hanuka!

Hi, all...I thought I posted yesterday but maybe it was all a dream Faye, hope the background gig goes well. I get those letters from companies re: large legal proceedings (can't think of the phrase right now - oh, class action suit). I never get the money they say I'm supposed to get Libby, oh no...I'm so sorry about the infection! PLEASE take care of yourself, no walking pneumonia please! Sounds like your reno was like mine...over budget Amy, how interesting that Lukas is so different. I've never ridden a horse from Europe before...since they drive differently there, I guess they train their horses differently! You will work it out Barb, wow...you ARE busy! Good on you, using that retirement in the best possible ways! I love the Christmakkah (?) term as well...I think you could make that a popular word! Hope the time w/DDIL goes well, enjoy the manicure! Beth, so glad you got the caps done! ANd you have DH doing laundry...you will be a woman of leisure! Yeah, the ensemble practices Friday's so second one is tomorrow. Four songs for us, and then some other harpists will play after we vacate the stage. Dutch, oh no...sorry about your son. Sounds like the meds are working and isn't it nice he's dealing with his own buggers Went to the podiatrist yesterday. I have something called Morten's neuroma (but not really a neuroma). Two nerves share the space for one and sometimes they get bee-yat-chee. So he put some cortisone in there, said to get some Superfeet inserts, and if it doesn't work, he can surgically remove one nerve. Says he does it all the time! Back to being cold again today...yesterday was positively balmy. Got the insulin and the antibiotics for the cat (yes, she still has UTI - vet just wants to treat her the first week of each month and then retest at end of March. There is a perfectly good reason I'm NOT saving any money!!! Hope to swim today, holiday starts tomorrow! Cathy

Good morning. I've got my presents bought but not all of them are wrapped so that is what I'm going to finish today. Got to run to the store for a few items I've run out of to make homemade mac and cheese for tomorrow. Other than that I hope it will be a quiet day. I hope to get to the track to walk later this afternoon as it's supposed to get to the upper 60s. Hope everyone has a good day.

BARB-enjoy dinner. hope you and Dee get to ride. when does Upreach start up again? Glad you like the photo. we call it "today's day at the office"-- they did a fabulous job and there was a photographer there so i may buy the photos of me if I like them. I need some new head shots. Turns out he knows a friend of mine from elementary school. Small world! BETH-i love wrapping gifts and I'm terrible at it. DH is great at it and I won't let him because I love to do it. Hope you get to walk and get the rest of the stuff you need.

Hi I got the last of the gifts wrapped. Going out to ride soon. It should be up to 40 degrees. I am meeting up with the other boarder who stays, Karen. It is nice to ride with someone and this way I can jump too. There is another rider who is staying North but that is because her horse has a bad hoof abscess that needs to grow out and resolve. We had our barn Christmas party last night and I told her she could ride my horse sometimes so it is a little less of a "long winter" for her. Some people are leaving today for FL so they will arrive before the horses and get the farm ready. My trainer is planning on leaving Wednesday.

Good morning Merry Christmas Happy Chanukah
AMY-I don't have a journal but I have a gig book where I keep the bookings and I them put the Program with it so I know what I played. I make some notes like steps to climb, or weird carpet pattern, etc. It has the name of the contact etc so in a way it's a journal. I usually take a photo of the harp in the room so I can remember the room. hope you rode. Glad you have a friend to ride with.
LIBBY-hope you are feeling better
DUTCH-hope DS is all better and can enjoy Christmas eve etc.
BARB-have fun with family. CATHY-How's the practicing going? is that one kid still annoying?
we are going to a neighbor. Rainy and icy and gloomy here now. Waving to all Have a wonderful day

Good Morning All! Amy - your barn sounds like it's pretty intense -with so many going South for the winter -but the up side is the training you'll get -You & Lukas will be a fine tuned team by spring! Have fun!
We did attempt to ride yesterday -got to the beginning of the main trail but it looked wet, shiny, icy and to be honest I said I wasn't comfortable -so we turned around & were able to walk thru a short section that was un-trampeled so the snow was soft & no ice-we were only out about 30 minutes (if that) but better safe than sorry!
Dinner last nite with kids (!) was nice -so tonight after DDIL & family go to early church we will go there to do our menorah, latkes & relax. Then tomorrow DS & DDIl go to her family celebrations for overnight -we will go to movie (LaLa Land) and chinese (yes again!) then Monday DS & DDIL will join us at our "nashua" family's celebration -a friend with her married children & grands. Lots of eating the next 3 days!
So do you who celebrate go to church tonite or tomorrow or both? Big get togethers? Faye -are you making latkes at all?
Waving to the gang -Happy Whatever your Celebrate!

Hi, all! Faye, glad the last gig of the year went well! What are you doing for the first night of Chanuka? Barb, sounds like you are busy...still! Glad you had a good dinner with the kids and get to go over tonight. Yes, tell us how LaLa Land is. And smart about avoiding the ice...kind of like slippery driveways Beth, monkey bread? What is monkey bread? Amy, how nice that you have a friend to ride with, and can share Lukas (I'm assuming you trust her as a rider?)! Hi to Libby and Dutch! Yesterday was first day of holiday. Went to lunch with mom, dad, brother and niece. Tried to stop at groceries on the way home...too crazy, couldn't even park so came home and cleaned. Second harp rehearsal. The younger one will not be playing with us; the teacher is going to work with her separately and will play with the teens. Whew... Did groceries this morning, and will walk with neighbor this afternoon. Xmas at mom and dad's with brother and niece in am (dad makes his famous Belgium waffles) then will be home early afternoon to recuperate I hope everyone has a lovely holiday, regardless of your celebrations! Enjoy loved ones and remember fondly those who are no longer with us! Cathy

Happy Holidays everyone! I've been in bed mostly for the past few days. Nutcracker was amazing! I hardly coughed at all dd said she heard a lot of people coughing! I took Sudafed this morning and got a lot done lol, it hypes me up, so I don't like to take it. Rearranged all the boxes in the living room to the other side, so we can sit on the couch now. Wrapped all the Christmas presents! Cleaned all the electrical mess up in the 1/2 of the new kitchen (I told the guys I would clean it up - they looked so cold and tired!). Scrubbed all the water buckets for horses, cleaned stalls, emptied the barn trash and did all of this before 9 a.m.. I'm sure when I crash it will be hard! Dh was joking and said I need to take that medicine daily. Staying home tonight, tomorrow to my brothers annual shindig! Wave to all, Peace be with you!

Got back from DB1. We had a nice dinner and gift giving. We will rest up some and then go to the service tonight. Tomorrow after church we go to DHs family for Christmas dinner and gift giving.
Cathy- here is a recipe for Monkey Bread.
1/3 cup pecan halves
1 3/4 c sugar, divided
5 tbsp cinnamon, divided
4 cans refrigerated biscuits (the super cheap four cans that come shrink wrapped together work great)
3/4 cup butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a Bundt Pan with cooking spray. Pour pecans evenly into prepared pan and set aside.
Mix 3/4 cup sugar and 3 tbsp cinnamon in a large Ziploc bag. Cut each biscuit into quarters, shake each biscuit in bag to coat, press all biscuits lightly into pan (I always have some sugar mixture left over).
In a small saucepan, heat butter, remaining 1 cup sugar and remaining 2 tbsp cinnamon until butter is melted and sauce is smooth. Pour over biscuit quarters in pan. Bake 35 minutes. Invert onto a plate to serve (be careful, the sauce becomes like caramel and will burn you bad).

Good Morning & Merry Christmas & Happy Hanukkah! Beth - sorry about knee -hope it's just a slight issue -your monkey bread sounds yummy! Faye- nice you had your dinner w/ friends - we had our bagels & lox this morning -had a lovely time last night w/ the "other" family! We lit our menorah -ate, drank, watched football! (Faye- you will understand this -I was so happy that DS actually recited the candle lighting prayer with me -without being asked-)
Just lounging around until I head to barn to clean/lunch -then movie at 1:30- this theater we go to has reclining seats & you can reserve your seat/pay ahead of time -and they usually have about 15 minutes of previews! Will report back on La La Land later!

Hi all, Merry Christmas!
We had our celebration with our kids yesterday. Dinner, Mass, then back to the house for gifts and dessert. It was so nice to have all the kids in church with me. DD1 has such a beautiful singing voice, I love hearing her. Traveling to Baltimore today to see extended family on my side. DH side had their party last Sunday.
Rode with Karen on Thursday so I got to jump which is the best on Lukas. Was hoping to get out to ride yesterday but ran out of time. I did get the fancy new bridle I wanted from my husband for Christmas. I never could find a used one so he got me a new one. I like used tack because it is already broken in. This bridle is very nice leather but will still need conditioning and breaking in. If anyone has any tips let me know. A conditioner or oil that you like etc.
I have been eating like crazy. Monday I am back to tracking, it will be tough. Good thing I got a Christmas dress out of fabric with a little "give".
HAGD Amy
