Yana, what on earth is your son doing in Morristown, NJ for the summer? Do I recall that he lives in Brooklyn?

Down .6 - that's down 2 weeks in a row! Pleasantly surprised as I was less careful this week.

Gut Chodesh.
Yana -- may this be the start of a long losing streak!
Beryl -- I did not realize Dirty Dancing was set at Grossigers
Barbara -- My spouse goes on and on about how the NY Knicks used to frequent Kutshers. Wonder if he got it mixed up the the Concorde.

Quiet here. Hope everyone is doing well. Back home from a week at the beach so did not weigh in. Exercised daily--10 mile bike ride in the morning, then an hour walk on the sand every day, but ate differently also. Salad for lunch, but dinners out. Plus lots of happy hours. So we'll see. Off to zumba today. I need a class to really bump things up. Have a great day ladies.

Yep, the Forum KC is quiet...guessing is more active on FB.
Beryl--it sounds like you had a lovely beach vacation. Hopefully those bike rides and walks offset the happy hours when you finally WI.
Hit Costco early this morning to pick up fruits and vegetables, then smshed half the case of nectarines when shlepping from car to apartment Working a few hours today, then plan on earning APs with deep housecleaning.
Wishing all a productive and joyful day.

Good afternoon all. Zumba done, we'll see if I go back for the 5pm class too. Rozy, can you use the smashed nectarines for something else? Jam? Fruit salad? Oy. Still getting rid of books and other things I no longer need. It's amazing how much space they took up! And for how long it went on. The KC FB group is not that active. Have a good day. Enjoy cleaning!!

Sorry about ruined fruit Rozy. Lots of running around (typical Sunday) - yoga, Costo with Mom, shlep to Uncle's new place (looks like it's working out better then any other place he's been), Trader Joe's, Wholefoods. Have to go get some more stuff at the local store. Skipped lunch today (even though I had a trunk-full of food). Now trying to find decent airfair - hopefully for miles - for my son's trip to LA for a friend's wedding that is in 10 days...

Chana -- so happy to hear that the new assisted living facility is working out for your Uncle. Hatzloche on the fare shopping brgmsn -- thanks for the fruit salad idea! that made a delicious salvage of the fruit Took an early evening nap and woke disoriented to the niggun of Eicha. DH is prepping for next week. We got unhappy feedback regarding first draft of HRH' shidduch resume. Our address is scaring off the demographic we are targeting, so we need figure out how to phrase that we are LES ex-pats forced across the river when the Co-Ops went free-market. Oy do I hate labels.

Hi ladies. Not only quiet on FB quiet here too. Hope everyone is having a good day. I had a good day today. Got a haircut, mani, and my annual. Where I was 6 pounds less than last year! Always a good thing! Made a lovely tortilla bake tonight for dinner with homemade guacamole, vegan crumbles, salsa, non fat cheese, and low point tortillas. Looking forward to dinner. As always! Have a good evening. Beryl

I don't have much to say, therefore being quiet. Getting ready to go the the ladies class 'Av - The month that roared' with Freidy Yanover from Bais Chana. The class is being held at the local artist's house so we get to paint a lion afterwards. Even though painting is optional I don't see an easy way of getting out of it

Chana why would you want to get out of painting? brgmsn please share the recipe for Tortilla bake I also don't have much to share, hence the infrequent posts. Late night at work and then a revised menu due to lack of interest. Having a hard time coming up with easy, point friendly, 9-days fare. Tonight will be Vegetable Cutlets, Salad and fries with melon for desert.

Chana why would you want to get out of painting? ... because gowolves can't paint ... actually, most people got out of it - there was about 15 of us and I think only five stayed to paint. It was getting late though. I never thought the painting is my thing, but really enjoyed shmearing the paints all over!

Rozy, my recipe is so easy. It's not a real "recipe" either, per se. Sort of thrown together. Layer a casserole dish with tortillas. I use a low carb, low point one I use Tumaro's brand which is parve. On top of that I layer fat free refried beans, then some salsa. I put corn, and Trader Joe's grilled peppers and onions (because I'm too lazy to make my own). Layer the vegan crumbles on that. Or chicken. Or seitan. Some no fat cheese on top, if not using meat, or use soy/cashew cheese, or leave it off. If I have some I use guacamole too. I had some homemade so used that also. Layer till the pan is full, then bake till it's hot. Leftovers are good cold too!

Happy Erev Tu B'Av! Reporting the loss of 3.2 (after last week's gain of 2.2). Sunday's fast helped, and this time I was prepared for it. 2.5 liters of water on Shabbos really made the difference.
I will in CH for the whole Sukkos - so excited! Found the room couple of blocks from where my son will be living (he is moving at the end of the month).

brgmsn thanks for the recipe. do you use corn or wheat tortillas? Chana Congrats on the loss! I am also dancing the WL 2-step, down 2.4 after a gain last week of 2.0. Congrats on finding YT accommodations near your son. One of the joys of moving to Billburg from LES was gaining a Sukkah Porch, which beats the schlep down 6 flights of stairs to a shul sukkah (we avoided the building's communal succah due to Kol Isha issues).

A Gutte Voch! Decent eating over Shabbos, and today so far so good. Took mom to Ikea as she wanted to look for a new couch. She liked the one that was out of stock so we'll have to wait until September. Going to the first Yartzeit of our Rabbi, will be beginning the writing of the Sefer Torah. Because of the yartzeit didn't have time to visit my uncle, but will try to get there tomorrow if I can stretch my lunch hour and stay then stay late at work.

Rozy, mazel tov on the loss and entering ONEderland!! I'm enjoying it here too! Enjoy the wedding--the company, the music, and the food (but not as much as the rest!) Yana, I'm still figuring this site out. It's not that hard, just different. Did you get to see your uncle?

Yes, I went yesterday over lunch and brought some food and household items that he asked for. He is settling in quite nicely, saying that this is the best place he's been so far. The only thing that we are waiting for is the stand-up lift that would help him transfer from the bed to the wheel chair, once he gets that the staff can exhale (they are worried about him falling, even with two people transfer). Hopefully it will happen this week. DS went to LA for the friend's wedding, and he and two friends are driving back east, stopping at each Chabad House on the way. They spend last night at Tuscon and tonight in Albuquerque. And at each Chabad they are given piles of food for the road

sorry for the slow replies -- still having inet access problems.
The wedding was a very enjoyable re-connection with friends and neighbors from our former 'hood. the venue was a 'takaneh hall' which resulted in minimal temptations to blow my food plan. Only stayed for the first dance set due to the late start of the chupa.
Yanna - did you son arrive home yet?
Plans for today are laundromat (dryer repair scheduled for Sept 1), Costco, and finish sewing a dress for Yom Tov.

Hi Rozy, Not sure what takaneh hall means but glad you enjoyed the wedding and didn't overindulge. My son is not even close to home, spent Shabbos in Colorado Springs. I really hope the rest of the road trip will be more boring (driving through the plains), and gets him to NY on Tuesday, as he needs to move out his apartment 8/31. He seems to be untroubled by this, so I really hope he has a plan. Mom wanted to go mushroom hunting so I took her, and we found some chanterelles and orange-cup boletus. She was so happy. We know our mushrooms, don't worry Rozy - we also have dryer trouble, repair guy is coming Sept 2 (DH will be home as he needs to burn off some of his vacation time before he loses it). Costco, TJ - done. Went to the kosher store but they didn't have Shor Habor meat, only chicken and ground beef. I put an order for it, hope to get some by the holidays.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who didn't kow what takaneh hall is! Looking forward to hearing! Yana, so impressed you can go foraging outside for mushrooms and know what they are. And boys never are worried about things. They let things go till the last minute, and somehow it always works out for them. It wouldn't for us, but always does for them! Rozy, sorry for the dryer issues. Hope they're fixed soon. And I"m impressed you're sewing your dress. I used to sew when my children were small but got out of the habit. I loved making them little dresses and things. Made myself some nice things too. Have a good evening ladies!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who didn't kow what takaneh hall is! Looking forward to hearing! I'll take a stab at it In russian-yiddish or just odessa-style-russian, there is an expression 'taki da' or 'taki net' which is stronger then da/net (yes/no) - so takaneh might be derived from it? Meaning 'maybe not', indicating not too appealing. We need to get to the bottom of it Rozy! Shed the light.
