Hi all, Had a nice practice ride on Lukas! One of the two pet geese at the barn died last night and the other goose is just sad. They were never apart. I have made inquiries on who can sell us another fat white goose. If I can't find one we will have to go to the small animal auction. I hope we can get Henry a friend soon. Really we couldn't tell them apart much but we are going with "Henry" as the one that is living. They used to hang out with the wild Canadian Geese most of the year but unfortunately they are all gone right now so he is really alone. It is just pathetic.
On a brighter note things are going well with Lukas. Still doing a lot of flat work.

Good morning, Thursday AMY-that's sad about the goose. I hope you find one soon. Glad things are going well with Lukas. How often are you doing yoga? I felt that helped with my legs and balance for riding as well. BETH-hope you enjoyed Bible class. do you know how long the recovery is for your knee surgery next week? I have my Kabbalah class this morning LIBBY- hope you had a good trip back. carpet guy came. took about 5 seconds with the laser measuring thing. then he asked me about the harps nice guy. this weekend DD will look at the colors and they said once ordered it only takes about a week so I'm nervous to move everything but excited to get something new in one room now. Painting went well and things are back where they belong. lunch with my neighbors today. waving to all. HAGD

Hi, all! Faye, glad the painting is done, and the carpets are coming. How nice of DD to help with colors. Love that the painter appreciated the entertainment! Amy, glad the lessons are going well! I hope they find another goose soon...so much for assuming birds are dumb creatures! Barb, hope you get to ride today or tomorrow. Lunging is better than nothing! Nice to have a indoor pool in freezing weather! Beth, are you anxious about the sx or looking forward to it (OK..."looking forward to" might be a bit strong)? Ended up going for a quick hike yesterday to see the water levels in the park. They were pretty high, even where I cross a stream. Kind of tricky but managed not to get wet (wore Gortex boots ). Had more rain last night, another major landslide on our local highway, no one hurt this time but it was taking people HOURS to get over the hill, normally 30 minutes. Watsonville, a farming community south of me was hit hard with flooding. We will see that reflected in produce prices next summer Hope to swim today. Cathy

Good afternoon. I've cancelled my surgery for now. I really didn't want it but at the time it was hurting more than it it now. I think the elevating it and using the heating pad did it just as much good as the shot did. I've been walking and doing stuff pretty much as normal but should I need surgery in the future I can still have it done. Other than that I've been house cleaning today. tomorrow I'll steam mop.
Faye-glad you got the carpet measurement done quickly.
Cathy-CA is known for mud slides. Glad it's not near your house. With all the rain you're having, is the drought deficient better now?
Amy-found another goose yet?

anyone see Madame Secretary last night. it was about a horse from Mongolia (and named mandy and she was beautiful) I saw it, it was a cute episode. "do not name the horse, you'll get attached" ... too late! ha I'm afraid Oregon will join California in flooding next week.... Starting about Tuesday we're to go from 30 degrees to 50 with solid rain... :/ Pretty common around here!

Good morning. It will be in the 70s here today. Kind of spring like. I noticed my Jonquils are starting to spring up from the ground. They are usually the first plants of the year to bloom. Nothing special going on here. How is your world today?

So.... I guess I will be really retiring! Got an email from my boss yesterday (nice hunh) that due to budget cuts, my contract will end January 31st. Bittersweet, I was hoping to work until the kitchen was finished in March. The money was good. Will have to start looking at my budget now! I'm so spoiled!! I'll have to give the cleaning gal notice- I'll have time to clean myself lol! I still have the contract with Youth Services - it's probably only a couple hours a month now. I'

computer froze on me! Heidi the gal who boards her horses here let me know yesterday (also)that she just leased a boarding facility. Lot's of changes all at once here! I'm excited for her. She is a really good instructor. Hope she does well there. All she said is that it's 10 minutes from me and has a covered arena! Yeah, covered arena! She hasn't told me she's moving her horses yet. She was suppose to come over and talk yesterday, and her car broke down. I can't imagine she would still keep her horse here! I will be relived if she moves them, four horses is a lot of work and manure on 1 1/2 acres! I hope she honors our agreement to still watch my horses in February and March when I'm in AZ again I'm off to train the person who is taking over my position (a nurse already employed there that is taking on more due to cuts, I think she is a good fit)we have a home visit for a new mom/baby this morning and a visit to the prison next week. Wave to all! HAGR!

Hi all,
WI today and I am up less then a pound. I figured after losing 4 lbs. last week it might be hard to lose again. I did get to the gym but not as many veggies as the week before so I will up that this week.
We are going to the small animal auction this evening to see if we can get a goose friend for "Henry" and I hope they have one. I have never been to the auction so this will be new for me.
Cathy, those slides sound awful, glad no one was hurt this time.
Faye- The harps I think will always be fascinating to people who visit you. They are just not as common as seeing a guitar or piano in someone's home. Glad lunch with neighbors was good, how long have you known your neighbors?
Libby- are you on the road again? safe travels.
Dutch- great photo! Ally looks content.
Barb- glad you had a nice solo ride with some trotting! Time with our horses is the best!
Beth- you know your own body the best, I hope the knee just keeps on improving.
I just feel so behind on the housework, still. I keep doing things but progress seems slow. I keep getting into small little projects like organizing drawers when really I need to do general upkeep. I still have Christmas sitting in the basement waiting to be packed up into bins. That will get done one evening when the mood strikes and I can put on a movie in the background. I also need to wash the Christmas table cloths first. I will do that today.
Looking forward to the auction tonight for the experience as well as the new goose.
HAGD

Hi, all...wow, everyone is so busy! Faye, have a nice night in the city. Hope the buzz on your harp gets fixed. Barb, so sweet that Penny is a good girl. I'm assuming the ice is less or gone? Dutch, wow...that seems like a lot of snow for Oregon. I saw other pics from friends on FB in that area. Stay safe when the waterworks start! Are you on high ground? Amy, keep on track! You did so well last week (might have been water as you said)! They say that sometimes cleaning is determining where to start...sounds like you are getting things done, but your brain is complaining about "half-empty" instead of "half-full" Beth, wow...70's??!?! What does THAT feel like? Glad you decided against sx because you're feeling better!! Libby, do you want to be retired? If you still need $$, can you find another part-time job? It seems there are some aspects of the job you're losing that you really like...can you become a contractor and pick-and-choose? BTW...glad you got home safe Went swimming yesterday, quiet...I timed it perfectly as it poured after I went in to shower Today is prepping for the watercolor workshop this weekend. I have to draw out what I'm painting and have all the supplies packed up. Will need to go to the market today since I won't have time - or energy - this weekend. Cathy

Good Morning Saturday -Cathy- glad you got your swim in before the rains! Can't wait to see what you do in the watercolor workshop! Beth- good that you're knee is better -hope it stays once you get back into doing "stuff!" Faye- where did you have dinner -so nice that you are that close -we are only 45 minutes (+/- depending on traffic - could take over 1 hour!) from Boston but don't get down there too often. Libby -congrats (?) on retirement? that was a pretty crappy way for them to let you know. I'm sure you will figure something out -more time in AZ & with the ponies! Dutch - keep safe & warm. Can't remember - did you put winter (borium) shoes on Alie? Are you going to back her yourself or have someone else do it? Amy -happy goose hunting When is your next lesson? does he have you doing a lot of flat work as well?
trying to figure out what to take to Florida next week -it's hard when all your summer clothes are packed away -I will probably take 1 pair capris & lots of tops & walking stuff. the pool at my parents place is usually empty of people (especially this time of year) & it's heated so I can do some laps & some of the water aerobics stuff I have been doing here. Not sure if I will get another ride on Penny before I go -unfortunately Dee is also going out of town on Thursday but BM said he will throw lunch the few days we are both gone & Dee's daughter will come after school to pick out the shed. BM will pull blanket for me if it gets warm & reblanket at night. I told DH I will miss him, Tundra & Penny but he said he wasn't sure it was in that order!
Heading out to clean & earrands - DH will watch the Patriots game tonite - I could care less about football so will watch Pitbulls & Parolees -one of my favs! Waving - HAGD - keep warm, dry & safe - CBL

Hi horse lovers, its a sunny 22 degrees out here, was really pretty this morning with the full moon over the barn and all the ice crystals everywhere! I had a really good talk with the nurse I'm training for my position yesterday. Sounds like my boss is out the door soon with another job(hence the email that my contract is terminated, I've worked with her for 15 years in different capacities, she could have called me!). All the nurses that are employed full time got their hours cut, most are looking for different jobs. I'm 'm going to stay really busy the next two weeks getting as caught up as I can before turning everything over. DH and I had a long talk and he said if we can't make ends meet on what we make w/o me working then there is a problem. I guess that kind of slapped me into reality Now I'm workin on feeling ready to let go...it's scary for me, how did you all do it, those of you that have? Went up to Heidi's new place she's leasing, really nice covered 80 x 100 arena (footing leaves something to be desired), large outdoor arena, 6 inside 12 x 12 stalls and an acre fenced pasture. I'm very happy for her!! This is her dream, she's only 24 years old! It sounds like when the weather is better she wants to bring Diesel back here. He is such a sweet pasture ornament (for me)that I would be ok with that. Her student, who has ridden Lucy a few times told me that Heidi told her she was going to see about Lucy stabling up there for a lesson horse. That would be a good job for her, she hasn't been getting much attention and she craves it (hence the stall kicking, which has stopped now). Speaking of the horses, I'd better go feed them HAGD everyone!

Good afternoon. DH and I had a pleasant day out on the town. We had breakfast at a deli/bakery. Then went to the library and then went to see Hidden Figures. I give it 5 out of 5 stars. DH didn't think he would like it very much be he really enjoyed it. Go see it if you can. Going to relax the rest of the day.
Barb-the capris and tops with a light jacket should be fine.
Libby-the income after retirement was an adjustment. It can be done. The freedom of not having to go to a formal job is wonderful.

LIBBY-could you get a PT job somewhere if you needed to ? Victoria starts tomorrow out here on PBS BARB-have a good trip. how long will you be in FL? CATHY-enjoy water color class
the traffic was absolutely awful we had to call DD to make the reservation 30 min later. something must have happened but we were at a standstill and everywhere we went it was traffic. got to the harp tech, she was in the street waiting for us and handed her the harp, and left. go back tomorrow so hope things are better. Today went to mall etc. think I picked the carpet color so may order next week. exhausted, the traffic took it out of us.
HAGE everyone

Hi all,
tracking yes, went over by 5 points last night. Oops!
We were able to get 2 geese. We planned on bidding until we won and we got them for $17 each. The auction was an interesting place. It was not horrible or anything because it was a small animal auction, NOT frightened horses headed for the kill pen. The animals were treated like farm animals not pets but not mistreated. A lot of rabbits, chickens. Dozens of fertile eggs in case you want to hatch your own. A beautiful male pheasant. The biggest animals sold were 3 calves, a cute black goat, and 3 potbelly piglets. The crowd was mostly families. A mix of Amish, Mennonite and "English".
The 2 geese are gray. It was dark when we got to the farm and we released "Jay" and "Brian" near the pond on the opposite side of where Henry was swimming so they could meet on their own. I heard the next day that the grays they were swimming in the "top pond" away from Henry. They herded them toward Henry and he honked and hissed at them. When my friend left the barn yesterday afternoon she said they had all been swimming together in the small pond and were now all huddled together resting on the lawn so friendship wins!
I will be today so I will see the geese in the daylight and try to get a couple photos. Looking forward to my lesson of course. Hope I get to do more jumping today. I have been doing my "flatwork" homework and I think my trainer will see improvement
HAGD Amy

Hi horse lovers, drywall in kitchen (1st half) will be finished today - the painter will come over also, not sure that he will be able to start right away. He is a friend and I think because he knows I'm here alone he just wants to make sure everything is ok (with the drywall), sweet guy! on Friday I went to approve the sample cabinet and it had some issues. The design has black rope around the edges, the cabinets I'm matching were made in 2009, they have a new process and the new way they paint the rope is thicker, more pronounced. I actually liked it better! They can't do it on the older cabinets, so I told them they would have to do the thinner black paint. I'm waiting to hear that they can do it- the main color matched perfectly. This will of course hold up the kitchen! Oh well! Amy; I'm so impressed with your tracking! keep it up Cathy; Do you really swim in an outside pool in the rain? Faye; traffic is the pits! Beth; how is the knee? Barb; I'm going to have to start riding regularly again! I haven't ridden in several weeks! I'm going to brush out ponies today and maybe ride Dutch; do you still have snow? HAGR everyone!
