Hi horse lovers, back home, everything is good - a little damage on our carport from the snow load. Will have to get that fixed! It already had a little sway, now it's worse! Ponies look good Heidi wants me to bring Rosie up to her barn till the weather gets better, she said no charge. She has a barn helper (15 yo girl) who has ridden Rosie a couple of times and fell in love with her. She was asking Heidi about a lease. I'm not ready to do that although I'm not opposed to her riding her, she is a great little rider, has been taking lessons for 4 years from Heidi. I'll go talk with Heidi about it tomorrow. It would be nice to have a covered arena to get the horse into condition for summer. I've never had Lucy here by herself, so wondering how she'll do. Well, we bought a park model where dh is staying in the camper in Mesa, AZ. It wasn't that expensive, it is a very well kept and updated 1995 and the people left everything there-linens, silverware, furniture, bar-b-que, and even a stocked liquor cabinet lol! The space rent is paid for a year, then we will have to make rent payments. It's really cute! I fell in love with it lol DH came back with me to do taxes and lawyer stuff, then he's heading back. He'll be a lot more comfortable and will quit bugging me about spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on a home in AZ lol HAGR/D everyone! I'd better go feed the horses and see if any ducks landed in my arena!

Faye - all those "things" for pilates sound like a torture chamber! LOL - never done that or yoga -they offer both at the Y - may try one or the other -which is an easier one to try?
Cathy -glad you got a swim in before the rain -

Hi all,
Had an extra lesson today and that turned out to be a very good thing. It has been cold and windy and Lukas was on "high alert" his head was up like a giraffe and he was snorting and blowing like a dragon! I could tell he was a little bright when I got him in the indoor and mounted up. I was just going to walk trot a little before trainer arrived. I have never been afraid to be on him until today, he was scaring me a little. I trotted circles and over ground poles, circled jumps anything to distract him. I did not want to get off though. When trainer got there he said he has never seen him like this. We added draw reins which I am not used to using but it helped. We trotted a million figure 8's and circles then moved to bigger circles to half the ring. Cantered half ring circles then took it a little bigger. Eventually we got him walking around like a good boy. It was not the lesson I was expecting but it was a good lesson. I learned a lot about sticking with it until you get what you want. I ended feeling successful. I will not be riding him by myself until we have a string of good rides in a row. I can arrange to ride when my friend Karen is at the barn. A training rider told me some warm weather will probably go a long way to fixing his attitude. So I am very fortunate that I scheduled an extra lesson today because if it was a practice ride I probably would have dismounted and then felt like a failure. at least this way I rode it out. My trainer also said he thinks Lukas and I are going to do great things together, just not all next week, LOL.

Morning all - Libby - that is great about the park model -especially if this is a regular winter thing -and you have horse coverage! Trotting thru -some errands then "gallery sitting" 11-3 -the sad part is that most likely there will be no visitors/customers!

AMY-glad it turned out to be a good lesson. sounds like a great trainer. BETH-how's the cough? so many are sick. just saw a posting a town yoga studio had to cancel classes because so many are sick. Lots of flu going around. Feel better. DUTCH-any shopping for the trip yet? So will DS be out of school? CATHY-hope you got to swim. how was the rain? hope it finally slows down and things can dry out.

Faye; have a great wkend w/dd. It was so funny when we got home, my dgd (11) gave dh a talking to about being gone in AZ and how he should live here because we all miss him and are worried about him! Beth; are you any better? is your computer fixed? Sending hugs your way! Barb; hope you get some sales this wkend! You are very talented! I love seeing your work on FB Amy; I'll bet it was a cabin fever fluke with Lukas, or there was something (an animal) close by that was unfamiliar. Let us know how your lesson goes today. Cathy; We are having some small landslides here with all the wet weather, nothing like CA! Did you used to jump when you were riding? I did in younger days. Dutch; how is Ally doing? I went to Heidi's barn yesterday late afternoon, she was working her new, wild mustang she adopted. He is a very well put together horse and handsome. Very unsure of humans, pretty wild still. He is black with 4 short white socks and a beautiful white blaze, full black mane and tail. They think he is a draft cross. He's 5 yo and was gelded at 3 yo, about 15-16 hands. He acts like when he was handled, he was abused. She is going to get him dna'd to find out the breeding. His name is Maximus, he let me pet his cheek and neck after checking in with him-he's pretty easy to read. I wanted to talk to her in person as she had only text'd me about bringing Rosie up there. So, I found out she wants me to take Rhoku back to my house then it would be a trade on board, not just bringing Rosie up. That's why I wanted to talk to her face to face! DH doesn't want me to do it. He thinks I'll be gone all the time.....I told him, your going to be in AZ, what are you talking about? He thinks she is going to take advantage of me. I don't feel that way, she'll be giving me lessons while I'm there- she is an awesome instructor! HAGD everyone!!

WI today and I am up a lb. sigh. I stopped using my journal on Tuesday and even though I was tracking on my phone I don't think that is the same. We ate out a lot this past week so I think that is harder to track. I will not let it throw me off. I am back to the journal!
I am not riding today because it is supposed to really warm up tomorrow so I am hoping that will help calm Lukas.
The "beyond the scale topic was the stress of clutter. I am going to try and de-clutter my laundry room today. It is becoming hard to do laundry. My "barn car" needs help too but I will wait for it to be warmer.
So far I am holding firm to my "no new clothing challenge". My DH gave me some gift cards to clothing stores. I did not have the heart to tell him I am not buying clothing right now but they will keep.

Hi all.
Turns out I also have bronchitis! :-( DS has had a heck of a cough too - comes and goes, so I'm now taking him to Dr today.
Charmed... DS is in daycare, so yes, I'll be taking him out for our trip.
I have no clue how Ally is nor have I done any shopping... all I do is cough right now. But should feel better by tomorrow with these good drugs! Fingers crossed!
HAGD all!

Hi, all! Faye, have fun with DD this weekend. Maybe I'll try a pilates class just to say I've tried it. I need to mix things up a bit! Harp teacher emailed yesterday; she tested FaceTime (I think you mentioned that) w/someone else last week so I'll look into it. Beth and Dutch!! Take care...bronchitis is bad stuff, can get so much worse so easily! Good drugs help, especially if it helps you sleep. Barb, have fun with the sitting around waiting for customers thing Do you take a book? Libby, I would think you would know if someone is taking advantage of you; it's sweet (?) that DH is concerned, but you know Heidi, so I'd think you'd what her intent is. You've had Rhoku before at your place, right? Do Lucy and he get along? So, what is a "park model"? Amy, it's too bad lunging is out of the question for you; it does make riding a more enjoyable prospect if some lunging is done first. I had to do a lot before shows, specially indoor areas. My horse would freak out inside I can't remember who asked, but yes, did lots of jumping early on, then switched to dressage. When I sold my horse, then started leasing, we kind of got into horse trials, which I really liked. But lots a trail riding too. So, got a call from a board member yesterday. They did everything I asked them NOT to do. They did not come talk to me first, and they talked to only one family and just the dad, the dad who doesn't watch what his kids are doing and has only been here 6 months. He told the board member "I don't see any damage." So I called the board member back and told him MY side of what was happening and he's coming by tomorrow to check it out. Which is what they should have done in the first place. After this, I'm washing my hands of the whole thing. The board members are inept and obviously don't follow through very well on things. If the stairs collapse because all the dirt has washed away because all the plants have died, it's the HOAs problem, not mine. OK, rant over More rain and wind today. Was going to try swimming but we'll see...maybe just go to the gym and play around Cathy

CATHY-do you walk on the stairs that could collapse?? unbelievable that they didn't listen to what you wanted. Always amazes me. I don't think people listen anymore. I did hear Facetime was better for lessons than Skype. Skype would have delays or freeze or something like that. hope it works out. If you try Pilates let us know what you think. always good to change it up. How's DB's picture going? DUTCH-so sorry about the bronchitis. feel better. hope the Dr. can help. you want that all gone before your vacation. LIBBY-sounds like you know what is a good deal and what will take your time, etc. Glad you enjoy the lessons. AMY-just be careful if the gift cards have an expiration date. some do, and I remember at the holidays they always say to check that out. the lb. could be water weight if you ate out a lot. the salt or extra carbs could just be retaining water.
BARB-hope some customers come in. BETH-hope you are doing better. how's the laptop?
saw the nutritionist today. like her a lot. very holistic so into aromatherapy etc. Waving to all. HAGD

Rode both horses a little this afternoon, sunny and nice out. My arena is reduced to a 20' circle and wet so just walk and trot. Both horses were good. Rosie was a little hyper vigilant when we walked the perimeter of the fence line. It's a little windy, so that's probably why. DH and I might go to a movie tonight! We never do that! I'd better look and see what's playing!

Good Morning All - Libby -good that you got a ride in -it is warm (upper 40's) today & a bit warmer tomorrow- but of course still 1'+ of snow -I may take Penny out by hand to the trail head -not sure how the footing will be & since I haven't been on her back in 4 weeks -want to see where her head is! (and yes - my glass ships well!) The horse swap sounds like it may be a win-win for you with lessons etc - keep us posted.
Dutch -sorry you are sick -hope you can move it along -how long before your trip?
Cathy- sounds like the lawn issue is not going away soon -maybe just talk to the parents on your own? Point out that if the kids get hurt....? From the news back here it looks like CA is getting ready to sink into the Pacific - glad you are still safe!
Amy - hope the weather helps Lukas' mind set! Do you lunge him before you ride?
Beth - when do you get your computer back?
So - don't know how many of you wear contact lenses -and Faye you might find this humorous -last night when I went to take mine out -I couldn't get the left one out - tried & tried -then suddenly looked on the counter on the "lovely glass dish" I put my lens case in (!) and there was a dried up lens! Now what is funny is that I did not realize all day that I only had one lens in my eyes! I had just opened the package a few days ago -so was not willing to throw it away so fast -so I put it back in the solution over night & this morning it was just like new!
Heading out to the barn in a bit -I did the Y early this morning - note to self -don't go on Saturday -too many kids! Yesterday at the gallery was just what I expected -no visitors - I read & did some club paperwork (I am membership chair)

Hi, In the low 50's already. I walked to the food store instead of driving. It limits my shopping tough because I have a 2 wheeled cart that I bring and it only fits so much. I feel like I am combining an errand with exercise so that is good.
Going to ride Lukas this afternoon. Hopefully the warm weather will give him a new outlook. I also plan on taking him outside to ride, after starting off in the indoor. It's a new day.
Hope you all are enjoying your Saturday!

Hand walked Penny to the trail head- she was jigging all the way -when we got back to the pasture I took a lunge whip & got her & Skip running (and bucking) around the field for about 10 minutes! it was fun to watch them -

Good afternoon. I just got my laptop back up and running. They didn't know what the problem was. No viruses or anything detected. They went back to an earlier restore point and it started working. Go figure. They charged me only $20.00.
I need to go back and read up on everyone.

Hi, all! Faye, hope your having fun w/DD! I am scheduled for a harp lesson on Monday and have tested FaceTime with my iPad mini. Seems to work but I sure don't like looking at myself Barb, that's too funny about the lens! I remember a long time ago I was heading out of a store and put my sunglasses on. This guy came from the other direction and had a smirk on his face when he saw me. When I got to the car, I looked in the review mirror and one lens had popped out! No wonder he was smirking...pretty funny looking. I guess our brains combine both images from out eyes and don't always noticed something missing Beth, glad you got your laptop back. You must be feeling better if your running errands? Amy, hope your ride goes well! Dutch, hope you're on the mend! Libby, ah...I thought Rhoku had been there but didn't know he could be naughty around kids. OK, so that's kind of cool re: the trailer. Somewhere to always have for those winters in AZ! One of the board members came by this morning to see what I was talking about w/re: to deteriorating landscaping. Something they should have done right off the bat. He agrees that something needs to be done, a small retaining wall and more traffic-friendly plants. He started suggesting things I could try and I said "no, I'm not putting any more money or time into it. Unless the kids keep off whatever is done, it won't have any impact." So he said he understood and thought he'd talk to the board and the landscaper to see if there's something that can be done. It's fine...I've done my due diligence and I wash my hands of the whole thing. It's the boards problem now. Might go walking later today (yay, Amy for combining walking and errands!). Depends on if it's raining...every now and then the sun comes out. My parents are having breakfast tomorrow for my niece, who's in town, but I told them it depends on the weather and how much rain we get today and tonight. Cathy

CATHY-enjoy dinner and hope the landscaper's take care of it. Curious how the lesson will go. good luck with it BETH-glad the laptop is ok.and nice of them to charge only $20- hope you and DH are feeling better AMY-have a good ride. enjoy the nice weather BARB-hope your eye isn't red from trying to take out the lens that wasn't there. as long as you are careful picking up the dry lens it usually rehydrates fine. DUTCH-hope you and DS feel better.
waving to Libby and ATF. Had a nice time with DD and going to dinner tonight for DH's birthday.

Rain, rain, rain.....Heidi is coming over in a few minutes to talk about the horses. I have Rosie and Lucy turned out together, which I seldom do, unless I'm watching them. I want to see how they do. Lucy is the lead mare and is pretty mean to Rosie. Since Rosie is my riding horse-I get pretty protective! HAGD all Went and saw Hidden Figures last night, really good show!

Wow! Seems like everyone has been busy. My coughing is slight right now. DH's cough is somewhat better but he still can wake me up with it at night time. He has a very sharp cough that hurts my ears. Sometimes I have to put cotton in my ears to soften the sound. He's taking his inhaler and since it's the weekend he's taking the cough syrup that has hydrocodone in it.
We're going to try to go to church tomorrow. DH won't sing this Sunday.

Going thru paperwork today in home office! Bunch of recycling and confidential recycling - boxing up last years paperwork and starting tax binder for accountant. Meeting with Heidi yesterday went well, I'm going to trade stalls/horses for a few months so I can ride in covered arena So Rosie goes to her place and Rhoku comes here. They eat about the same, although Rosie gets some alfalfa to keep wt on, so I'll send her with a few bales and her grain. Quiet morning, will check back later! Wave to all!

Libby - so excited for you - you can ride! I lunged Penny in the round pen this morning- with the deep snow after 5 minutes she was sweaty-DH wanted to do "something together" this afternoon -so even with the temp hitting 60 - I didn't ride - we went bowling -which i love -just don't do enough! Dee & I plan on trying to get them out on the trail for a walk tomorrow- it's not supposed to be 60 but "warm" for February! And all week in the upper 40's so more melting -maybe another ride or 2!
Beth -glad the computer is working & it didn't cost an arm & leg!
Amy hope you had a good ride
Off to clean my saddle - just in case!
Waving to all - enjoy the afternoon

Hi, all! Faye, yikes! Nothing like trucking around wet clothes, glad it all worked out. Great that you're having fun with DD. Barb, hope bowling was fun! Haven't done that in years! Beth, earplugs? I use them a lot Hope church went OK. Libby, nice that you can work something out. Will the girl at Heidi's place sublet Rosie? I thought that was kind of the plan? Hi to Amy and Dutch! Didn't go to breakfast this morning since rain was forecasted. Didn't want to come home in it or get stuck away from home. Went for a hike instead, got a wee bit wet but all worth it! Laundry, reading...sitting around Cathy
