What’s on your mind – how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:

Boker Tov All! I'm still watching (off and on) the Olympics. The women's bike race yesterday - there were some heartbreaking moments. It started to drizzle during the race, making the course slippery & dangerous. Heading down the last mountain, the Dutch woman in the lead suddenly hit the curb (going about 40 mph) and flew over her handlebars - she lay there with her head on the curb & her legs in the trees. I screamed. I'm sure others did too. We heard later that she is all right - I'm sure that is a relative term! "All right" in respect to what we saw on camera. Then, the woman who had been just behind her (American) - the two of them had been in the lead by a few minutes, took off down the road to the finish line. And the 3 behind her started cutting into her lead, little by little, finally passing her - she came in 4th, just out of the medals.
And then there are the glorious divers, & the gymnasts in their sparkly outfits - doing things I can only dream of! Nadia Comaneci sitting in the stands, watching & cheering. 16 y o swimmers coming in 1st & 19 y os breaking records. THAT is what I love about the Olympics.
I have memories of various grandchildren, "playing Olympics" at our house. A 2x4 on the floor, and they walk on it, jump once or twice, then dismount, landing with butt out & arms up - with parents & grandparents cheering! There were usually some other gymnastics that required my cane. And plastic gold medals for all.
Have there ever been Olympic games at your house? Would you consider doing something like that with children & grands? Are you inspired to try any new workout routines? (there is no diving at the pool - it is only 6' deep) I am however inspired to add something new. Perhaps a dance class, or Zumba. Something that stretches my thinking, as well as my muscles.

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well today. I love the story about holding home Olympic games! I can't remember if I did anything like that, but it sure sounds like fun. What the Olympics are inspiring me to do is to be the best ME I can be! I have a lot of room for improvement, but nobody can be as good at being me as I can (and I find that inspiring).
I'll be back later. Have a peaceful day, Lee

This morning I read about Michael Phelps's amazing performance on the relay team, along with the others, of course. More gold for the U.S.! Very inspiring -- my kids were just talking last night about Michael Phelps.
My family has never been particularly into sports, except of our DS25s, who ran track and cross country all four years of high school and into college (as an undergrad). He likes to watch sports and go to games too. DD27 has enjoyed going to baseball games with DH, but I suspect it's more about spending time with her dad, doing something he especially enjoys. Our shul went to a Dodger game a few years ago, and DD27 still wears her baseball cap with "Dodgers" written on it in Hebrew. I don't remember why we all didn't go, but the two of them had a great time.

I've been enjoying glimpses of the Olympics - I saw at least some of the men's and women's gymnastics last night. Always mind blowing. I didn't see Nadia in the stands -her little outfit back then had NO sparkles on it though -this is a big change in "the look". I understand that Swarovski is making lighter crystals (so they will be able to load more on).

I had back to back imaging today - a mammogram and then a CT of my lungs. I'm a firm believer that there's plenty of time to worry if something is found to worry about but I did have a moment because of very recent experiences with how fragile life is. Moving right along.

The most significant aspect of the Rio Olympics to me is that there was finally, finally an official Olympic tribute to the 11 Israeli athletes slaughtered at the 1972 Munich games.

Re avatars: I doodled around a bit, and came up with this! I couldn't get all the colors or features that I wanted, but it's a start. Hope you like my pictorial "me"! Thanks Louise for the instructions!
