Good morning all ~~~~~~
My first day at the new job went well. I had two meetings in the morning and then spent the rest of the day moving in. I have a number of files to put away still, but I'm waiting on file cabinets, so they sit in boxes. It's a good opportunity to go through them and purge. Today, I meet with the other managers in the morning and with the entire staff in the afternoon.
I took my breakfast and lunch yesterday - yogurt and banana, salad with lettuce, tomato, chicken, cheese curds, and hb egg. I'll probably do similar today. DH cooked burgers last night and we ate up the left over veggies.
Joyce, I think of you often and your challenges with your parents. My sister and I shared the care of my mother for five years. I can't fathom doing it alone.
Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Good morning everyone!
Good appt with the NP yesterday, everything continues to be fine. My cold is getting slightly better and I did get the yard mowed.....going fine.
My splurge purchase from our trip arrived yesterday.....a Pendleton Grand Teton National Park blanket. I am soooo excited. My feet were cold last night so I covered up with it last night. Too cool.....the striped NP blanket for the Tetons has been retired and replaced this year with the Teton mountain range and 8 most common animals to the area. The gal told us that next year they are coming out with an eclipse version. There will be a total eclipse next summer (don't remember the date) directly over the Teton range and the hotels are all booked, often requiring a minimum 3 night stay. We won't be going -way too many people and traffic in our little piece of heaven that we love so much.
As for today??? Who knows!! I am doing a couple of loads of laundry and DSIL will arrive for two nights on business. I do need to make a trip to the grocery store and I am ready to get going on my Xmas Snowmen. The mittens are all cut out but need the gold cord added then I will be ready to start assembling.
Hope everyone is able to shine bright today!! I think of you all often.
Peg

Good morning everyone!
I've already been out running some errands this morning. Several years ago we bought a piece of land in Hot Springs, AR, and we are selling it now so had to get all the paperwork notarized and overnight UPS'd back to the title company. Physical therapy has been here this morning for my dad, and I'm taking my mom for physical therapy this afternoon. So it's a fairly typical day.
Maryenne, so glad that your first day on the new job went well! It's always a challenge to get started in a new position. Hope this one will turn out to be perfect for you.
Peg, I admire you already getting your snowmen ready for Christmas! I haven't even begun to think about Christmas yet, but it will be here before we know it. Time goes by so quickly.
Esther, Joan, Lynne, Michelynn waving to you, and wishing everyone a lovely day!

Good afternoon friends! Maryenne, it sounds like you had a good start in the new position. This is an excellent time to purge files! Peg, the Grand Tetons are on our NP list. Our BFFs were there a few years ago and loved it. Your blanket sounds great. Good news on your check up! We are heading back to RI today. Early fall/late summer is my favorite time to visit out here. Waving to Esther across the Bay! We have our card league starting tonight. This will be my first year as a regular member. Last year I subbed in for half the year. Tomorrow we pick grapes at our local winery. Thursday will be cleaning and errands. Have a wonderful day! Lynn

I don't know...I still can't get over the name of this group. Are their actually people who are 61 and DON'T have to work anymore? Besides teachers, I mean...

Actually, Firebird, yes, there are. I'm 67. I continue to work because I want to. Several in the group continue to do volunteer work, teach, play music, etc.
I started the group several years ago, because when I visited the "Over 60s" thread, it seemed to be almost all retired people, women for the most part. I wanted to see if there were women like me who were still working. Since that time, several in the group did retire, but everyone is staying very active.

I am 71 and still work full time. And I love it! Was a stay at home mom earlier and have worked for the past thirty years. No retirement date in mind but undoubtedly one day it will seem right.
