What’s on your mind – how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:

Boker Tov All! Holly - How I Love babaganoush! I have a recipe for it, but it never comes out just right (I think I need to go to our local Lebanese restaurant & look over the proprietor's shoulder for a while!)
Louise - I'm with you - 50 pounds off would help greatly!
Lee - how'd the 1st day go?!
Still talking about abundance of the season. On Sunday we talked about clearing out clutter to help make room for new ideas, new songs, new poetry. I'm thinking of the abundance of art today. This will segue nicely into Friday's discussion of abundant spirituality.
In cleaning out closets, I am hopefully also clearing my mind for new songs, new expressions of who I am. And actually, eating healthy, and healthy portions, will also go a long way toward my artistic endeavors. As I am able to stop focusing on pain, I can redirect my energies to something else. I have noticed that pain takes up an enormous amount of energy!
I find that I have to "make time" for art. The day will slip away if I do not. Whether I am looking at beautiful books, crocheting something, or learning new and beautiful songs - there is a time/intention commitment to this. An hour at the library, with my yarn & hooks/needles, or with my guitar.
Today I will give myself permission to create. And to enjoy what someone else has already created!
Down what paths do your artistic/creative ideas take you?

I listen to the radio every chance I get. That includes the entire time I'm in the car, which, believe me, is a lot of my time (Californians drive all over the place every day). The stations I listen to are these: blues (I'm a very big blues fan), one Springsteen station (love him too), four classic rock stations, one really great classical music station, and one station that plays radio shows mostly from the 1940s (Jack Benny, Burns & Allen, the Six-Shooter with Jimmy Stewart, a few mystery 30-minute shows, Yours Truly Johnny Dollar which was originally a 30-minute show and morphed into a serial of 15-minutes per day so five shows [all week] to tell one entire story which play now for an hour and 15 minutes, other westerns, etc.). Riight now, I just finished listening to Fibber McGee and Molly and now (a couple of minutes past 7:00) I'm listening to the beginning of Fort Laramie with Raymond Burr. I'm not going to be able to hear the entire episode this morning, but the station repeats all the shows all week long at different times of the day (although in the same sequence, so tomorrow this episode of Fort Laramie will follow the Fibber McGee episode I just heard).
Separately from listening to the radio, I crochet. I do easy things, like a baby blanket for my stepson and daughter-in-law expecting their first child in November. I also do kippot. I don't do fancy-shmancy patterns.
From time to time, I compose music, although very, very infrequently. My harpsichord is terribly out of tune and I haven't been able to find my tuning instruments since the last move, so it has, I'm so very sad to say, become a dust collecter...

Lately, I think the main outlet for my creativity is Twitter. I follow Donald Trump, and I get up every morning, check my Twitter feed, and say, "What did this idiot say now?" It's amusing, and I get to post my own comments.

Hi everybody. DS is doing great and so am I. We are both exhausted from getting up really really early, but it's okay. DS likes the job!!! and they seem to like him!!! I hope and pray that all continues to go well.
He has just started work as a stocker. This will involve a lot of variety of activities (very important for him), including loading and unloading goods, putting these items where they are supposed to go, using various types of equipment (he may even learn how to use a forklift), helping customers, and working in the warehouse. And much more.
My brain is tired. I'll write more tomorrow; he's doing training and has tomorrow off, but will work more hours next week.
I'm so happy.
Have a peaceful day, Lee

Interesting about pain taking energy - probably the same for all kinds of pain. Noted.
Crocheting kippot is a simple artistic outlet for me. I do "Kippah consultations" and am sometimes really challenged by what people come up with!
