Good morning. As Jeanne said, it's foggy, damp and the ground is wet. Nothing special on my agenda - cleaning crew comes late this morning so when I'm done posting, I'm going to do my workout. I completed Day 2 of BA with great success. I think I drank alot - or I'm losing water weight - b/c I was in the bathroom about every hour yesterday. My plan is no stepping on the scale until a week from tomorrow. I don't want to get cocky. Besides, my true measure is going to be how my pants fit me (the pants with zippers, not the ones with elastic!). For those of you looking for workout pants, check out Lands End. They have a very nice Sport line that fit well and are a nice fabric. They're on sale right now @ 50% off - here's the code: NFFFF51. So they're a very reasonable $27. www.landsend.com/products/womens-active-yoga-pants/id_338351?attributes=44967,8063&source=GS¤cy=USD&geo=US&skumv=5275185&promotion-code=NFFFF51&promotion-pin=0&cm_mmc=139971612&SC=pla_brand&CMPGN=11383290717&ADGRP=114185171169&KYW=&MT=&DV=c&PID=5275185&TRGT=pla-296303633664&CH=Google%20AdWords&_cclid=Google_Cj0KCQjw28T8BRDbARIsAEOMBcw2mMBI2kSkTfK0hWIgCmQikef31CKJonFAyI9FcWrTZJv-03bhwVYaAl3rEALw_wcB&gclid=Cj0KCQjw28T8BRDbARIsAEOMBcw2mMBI2kSkTfK0hWIgCmQikef31CKJonFAyI9FcWrTZJv-03bhwVYaAl3rEALw_wcB Gina - the tall is pre-hemmed at 32.5 - would that work for you? I LOL'd at the free time share junkets. We did that when the DDs were little and took my DMIL and Dgrandmother in law. Silly us, we ended up buying but honestly it's been a nice thing and I like staying in places where I have a kitchen and where quality and cleanliness is consistent. Of course that was before AirBnB or VRBO. Jeanne - wow on smelling the ocean. That sounds really nice. Allison - good planning on the exams. And nice WI! Luv - I'm so sorry you are in such pain. I know you live with several problems that make moving difficult but this sounds really painful. [[[hugs]]]. Nancy and Khalua - good morning. BTW, my spaghetti squash was delicious. I also made the chicken. Have leftovers for lunch. Tonight is Miracle Ball and I'm not sure what I'll do for dinner. Maybe a veggie burger. DH normally goes to 5 Guys for a burger (take out). We'll see. Off to work out. The knee is still bothering me (damp weather?). Trying to think of which DVD to use since I don't think squats are a good idea. I only have 30 minutes but maybe I can do 2 of the 3 sections of my dance workout video, just for a change??? Later!

Good morning all, we’ll see how this goes. I have little Ike, sitting on my lap. He is visiting today while sis & BIL are off doing something today. I have soup simmering and bread rising, so it’s been a good morning already. We have rain, so soup and bread will be good choices for today. I wish I could make some apple crisp to go with it, but we have the problem of two diabetics to feed, and neither one of them (nor me) need sweets. I’m already looking forward to lunch and it’s only 8:00!! Of course I haven’t had breakfast yet, so maybe that’s the reason?
Jeanne - nice page turn, have a good day, hope the DASK is manageable.
Allison - good luck on your WI today. We will cheer you on, no matter what the scale says, you know you are doing the right things. The rest will follow. KUTGW and it will pay off, but you know that. I’m preaching to the choir here!
Luv - sorry the pain is still there, even if it isn’t as bad, and we know, of course, that you meant Sharon in your response about Sunshine. The time with my friend was well spent yesterday, we will need each other to get through the winter months.
Gina - of course I thought about you shortening the yoga pants, and then I thought - I would not want to try it with that kind of knit.
RV - nice to have a date for leaving. Glad that laundry is finally done, it’s a lot of work with company.
Caryn - I was thinking of you when I let the dogs out a little bit ago. It’s taking me a long time to type this, with the dogs and checking the soup and talking with DH and.... and.... you know how interruptions can happen. I hope your DH took a break last night.
Khalua - what’s happening with you today? With lunch already simmering, I’m going to have a pretty easy morning. I’ll add some frozen mixed veggies to the soup, then some barley, and make the bread and put it in pans to rise again. All things I love.
I put Maddie in her kennel to dry off, and Ike has settled down. Yeah. Although I do have to say he still wants in my lap!
Have a good day all. I’m sure I’ll BBL

Jeanne - I'm wearing the earlier iteration now and I love them. Am going to buy the green ones for more options. The pocket on mine is large enough for my iPhone (I don't have the huge one) and that's important to me. Honestly, Lands End is really good to work with. Plus I think you can return to Kohl's (might even be able to buy in Kohls but not sure since I haven't been to a dept store in 7 months)
Peg - again, you tempt me with soup and freshly baked bread. Grrr. Oh well.
I ended up doing the dance video which is challenging. I did the warm up and cool down plus 3 out of 4 "dance parties" for a total of 40 minutes. Just came in from walking the dogs and then changed into a 3/4 sleeved shirt to wear today. It's very humid and temp around 70. I can open windows and therefore clean the oven. Yay.

Caryn - the pocket is in the waistband? Hmmm. Oh well, I ordered the slate gray. I have one pair of decades (and I’m not kidding when I say that) old yoga pants in gray. I love them and know they will soon be toast, so I’m going to be happy to have a new pair. And while I didn’t find anything at Chris and Banks yesterday - well, with the exception of a 3/4 sleeve t-shirt for $5.00 - couldn’t pass that up! I kept looking at things and wondering ‘where would I wear this’? I doubt we will go out except for essentials through the winter. But yoga pants? That’s perfect! Thanks.
Allison 👏 👏 👏 down is good. You are on your way, back to your happy place.

Peg.... ahhh, the freezer section! I was wondering where those bags where you can take out just a few biscuits that Mom used to get were. Now I know.. lol! Thanks! Guess I’ll have to buy some now, huh? Yum to your lunch! I want some!! Allison... WTG on your loss!! Yea!! Caryn... nice that you have 70 degrees! Those pants look great! I’m thinking about them. Luv... glad you feeling less pain. Hope it goes away! It’s STILL raining here. Too bad because the temps are down and would be great to walk. Jeanne.... mmm at smelling them ocean. I haven’t been to the beach for years. Need to fix that once this pandemic is hopefully over. RV... great that you’ll be down here soon! Khalua

The pants I have have the pocket in the "tush" - not in the waistband. We'll all find out about the "new" version. I got the ones I'm wearing about 2-3 years ago - they still look like new.
I'm trapped in the office while the cleaning crew cleans the downstairs. Reading my book The Biggest Bluff by Maria Konnikova. She's a PhD in psychology and decided to learn poker to better understand "luck" versus "skill". The theory is that Texas Hold Em is a perfect metaphor for life. It's non fiction but is so well written. I'm still on chapter 1 but so far, it's really worthwhile. I'd heard her on NPR/CT talking about how Americans view their chances of getting Covid and how that affects our day to day actions. She was fascinating. So's this book.

Khalua - I don't know how well the Floridians are doing as far as distancing, but the beach near me was very pleasant to walk a couple of weeks ago. Easy to stay away from other people. You might look to see if its possible.

DBF1 just posted a beautiful eulogy to his grandmother on Instagram. I had no idea how well known she was in the art world. Here's a link to her website edithaltman.com/. She escaped from the Nazis at age 9 in a livestock car during the night. The rest of her family was sent to Buchenwald, where everyone but her father perished. She was an abstract artist - painting, sculpting. She even had a multimedia installation called 6 Million Almonds in a barracks in Buchenwald. I'm sorry I never got to meet her.

I have those LandsEnd pants in black and grey...the pocket is very small (2"x3"), fits only my keys. I use those as 'dress pants' when I attend CPE sessions. The reason I bought the ones on Amazon is the pocket is on the thigh and holds my phone (S10) comfortably. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083PYNLL9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1I also bought the Starfish style from LandsEnd, I did not like the way that fabric wears, very hard to remove any stains containing oil. I wore them most of the time I was in the dreaded boot because they fit over the boot. These new ones will be for when I ride my bike, so I got the skinny ankles, to keep the fabric from getting caught in the chain. Do not want to fall off that bike again! The lovely gentleman who was the shamash of our former Sephardic temple in LA passed away. His funeral is today on Zoom at 2pm. He was born in Venice, Italy and raised in Israel. He fought in every war from 1948 -1973, he stood about 4'11". He was loved by everyone and took wonderful care of my DFIL when he lost his sight, always guiding him to his seat and making sure he was comfortable. Every shabbat, he had a candy for each of my kids. A real mensch. A shamash is the guardian of the building, opening it for services, making sure everything is taken care of. He had an apartment in the building. Caryn - sounds like an interesting book. Allison - GOOD JOB! Keep up the good work. Jeanne - yup, know the bathroom drill. Luv - hope you get some answers from the MRI Our house in LA is supposed to close tomorrow! Now we need to find a replacement property to invest the money. Selling is bittersweet since we raised the kids in that home. We built it and I picked out every darn thing in it. But time to move on. Mostly I miss my fruit trees (figs and persimmons). Gina

Allison, congratulations on your loss! Not thinking mine will be quite that good this week. I'm trying to talk myself out of going this week to save $14 but know full well I'll do better tracking if I keep myself accountable so go I will. Thanks for talking me into that! LOL
Gina, you could use the iron on tape to shorten the length if they fit well otherwise.
RV, excited for you to head south soon! I've already started lists!
Went to vote this morning with no waiting thanks to my appointment. Came home to dust and vacuum floors and wipe up kitchen floor before the financial advisor arrived. Signed papers and it was time for lunch. Had turkey breast with mayo and mustard on low carb bread along with a slice of Swiss cheese. Not sure the cheese was worth the 4 pts but sure was tasty!
So cold, guess we just aren't used to it yet.
Time to tackle some filing!

Gina - sorry about the shamash's passing!
You have me looking at different pants on Amazon. I never think of Amazon when i think of looking for clothes.
Betty - good luck with your WI!
ok - time to see what else needs to be done before we leave.

Lunch was good. It made my house smell good on this cold and gloomy day. The forecast was for 70’ we are at 45. And cold with the rainy overcast day. Ike wants to sit in our laps to get away from Maddie, but they just came in, and DH never takes time to dry them off - he’s not the one that will need to mop up all the dog prints. But Ike is NOT going to sit on my lap when he’s so wet.
The soup and bread were good. I made two small loaves of the bread, we ate 1/2 of one of them. Planning to face time with my three good friends this afternoon.
I expect these yoga pants will be similar to my Nike ones, that has a ‘pocket’ in the waist band just big enough for my fitbit zip. I’d rather have real pockets, but don’t suppose they make them in yoga pants.
Gina - well, you will be able to occasionally drive by your old home, mine is gone, and now even the barn is gone. So many things like that are gone. My home where we grew up - gone. Every school building I attended - gone. Now even our old barn - gone. Sigh, you would think I was old or something! But it is bittersweet I know. You will always have your memories. Good luck on figuring out to invest in the next thing / property. Thanks for telling us about that wonderful gentleman- the world is a better place because of people like him.
Jeanne - how is your day going?
Caryn - so sorry for DBF#1 and his family on the loss of his treasured grandmother. She does sound remarkable. Very soon there will no longer be those that remember the holocaust first hand. We need to be sure their stories are told.
Allison - will you be able to get off in today time tomorrow?
Khalua - I feel with those frozen biscuits like I do about the Sister Subert homemade rolls. sometimes I wonder why I bother when they are so good, but I do love making breads, and hope to be able to make pretty good biscuits too. I might do a chicken pot pie thing that can be poured over biscuits.
Betty - I was wondering what it costs now to do WWers. No, i”m not going back to in person meetings. Not with the kind of numbers we have here. So many folks lost to this pandemic.
Whew, Ike’s folks are here - gotta go.

Caryn, thank you for posting the link to DBF1's grandmother's work and biography. It seems certain that the trauma of her childhood influenced her works, but what a body of work! It's funny, my late grandmother's maiden name was Altman, but she was from Hungary, not Germany. I went to HS with children of survivors of the Holocaust, and know now how it shaped not only the survivors' lives, but those of their children.

Peg, these pants have 'real' pockets on the outside of the thighs, plenty big for my phone. Yes, we will be able to drive by the old house. Just like I did with my parents' homes for many years. Sorry about the old buildings being gone. Many in LA from my childhood are gone too. LA does not do 'history' very well. Glad you had fun with Ike.
Betty, I don't think the iron-on tape would stretch with the fabric. I will just fold up the extra fabric, not a problem, just funny wondering who these pants actually fit!
Caryn - she must have been an amazing person, so glad her story is documented so well.
Better go get some lunch, it will be 2pm before I know it.

Jeanne... thanks for the input on the beach. I’ll check out the beach when the rainy season is over.
Peg...yes, those Grands are yummy. I’m sure you’ll get the hang of homemade biscuits, though.
Caryn... thanks for sharing that link. She sounds so interesting and I love the art.
Gina... thanks for the link to those pants. I really need a pocket for my phone when I walk. These will be for chilly days.
Betty... GFY for not skipping the meeting. I know when I started skipping it was the beginning of the end to any accountability.
Had a nap and now doing a load of towels. I can hardly stand the excitement!

Gina, bittersweet closing tomorrow. I was lucky enough to know the people who bought all the homes I'd grown up in and they're all still there. I did get to see the inside of the last one after they'd updated and remodeled. Loved what they'd done.
Peg, nope its getting nowhere near where our temp said it would be today either! Gray, cold and wet...and next week even colder. Today was to be the last of the warmer temps.
Sharon, is Sunshine walking better today? What a sight to see you try to lift and carry her, I'm sure!
DH hung the shades in the garage and I've sent photos to the company as they don't want to sear properly in the headers. We'll see what they say as she said they may need to remake them. Sigh!
Finished the filing and shredding. Now to oreo a list of what I'll need from the food store tomorrow for the mac n cheese requested on Sunday. I'll make 2 (one with real cheddar and one with Velveeta). DH is cooking a turkey on the grill which Susan still had in her freezer from last year.
DH went to help a DN start his furnace in his garage, then to another DN to see how he was doing on his project since he'd asked him to take a look and finally to another former DF who couldn't get his furnace to light! One would think he was still working! LOL
