What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all well today. I spoke with my mom a little while ago, and she is fine. The hurricane missed her part of Florida, thank goodness. This is a huge relief.
Today's topic: Taking care of ourselves. Although we have spoken about this before, I think it is worth bringing up again. So often, we are busy taking care of everyone and everything else that we forget to take care of our own needs. How about if we look at how we can change that, even if it's just one little thing at a time? What's something you can do --- today --- to make your life better?
I don't always take my own advice, but today I am going to do so. When I am done on the computer in a short while, I am going to get ready to go over to my neighbor's house for our monthly Scrabble game. I am looking forward to that. I will avoid thinking about unpleasant stuff, like the argument I had with my impossible cousin on the phone last night. That was very upsetting, but I will do my best to put it out of my mind. I will eat good food today, and not stuff myself. I'm bringing grapes over to my neighbor's, so that will be a nice snack.
I will plan my time wisely today, and not try to do too much in too short a time. I will pace myself.
And when I look at myself in the mirror, I will not criticize myself. I will smile and say hello.
How about you?
I'll be back later. Have a peaceful day, Lee

Boker Tov All! Lee - I've enjoyed this week. And what a lovely day you are looking forward to: Scrabble, grapes and smiling at yourself in the mirror! I'm so glad the hurricane missed your mom - better to be prepared & not need it, than to be unprepared!
My back is feeling "tight" this AM - I may have slept funny. So this AM, as well as working out in the pool, I am going to sit in the hot tub & let the jets massage my back. There will be considerable sitting over the next few days - the wedding venue is 1 hr from my house. My back can use all the proactive help it can get!
My house is quiet, the logging has stopped!
Shabbat Shalom!

Good morning all, and thank you, Lee, for a wonderful week!
I have done a better job this week of taking care of myself, and I plan to keep the momentum going. Two weeks in a row now, I've done very well with my eating and am feeling good about it.
DH and I had a long talk last night about the upcoming challenges with our health insurance, and we both feel better about it. We just have to do the best we can, and since we'll be on different plans, we both have to know about the other's plan in addition to our own. So we need to be able to take care of ourselves and each other in that regard. Oy, and also whatever plan we come up with for DS25's insurance. It still feels daunting, but at least we have each other.
If I don't get back here today, everyone have a beautiful day. Shabbat shalom!

Lee, I apologize for being absent a good deal this week. I think I read each day's postings at least once, usually before going to bed the same night, although at least once I didn't read one day's postings until the next morning... Anyway, I too enjoyed the questions and the direction people are going in.
I had a difficult night last night and not such an easy day today, so I'm gonna sign off with Shabbat Shalom to all.
