Hey Hotties! $76 on a grocery pick up yesterday. I’m supposed to be resting my leg, so I didn’t want to run around the store.
Today was $45 at JoAnn’s. DSS asked DH to make the cake for DGD birthday party. DH used to make and decorate them for his kids when they were young. I made all my kids cakes too, so we have been working on the plan together. SOMUCH FUN!!! It’s a mermaid theme party. We are even making our own candle to put on the cake. DIL seems excited that we are doing it.
$100 on a new battery for DHs old truck today too. It died yesterday.
Tootles, my Kroger had pork shoulder for .97 a pound and whole fryers for .77 a pound this week. Did yours? I’m putting the pork in the crock pot tomorrow and planning meals with it and then freezing some

I went out to get the mail and it's 94 degrees at 5 pm. Yikes! I may not take my evening walk. I made a noticeable increase in the distance I walked this morning. There's a duck pond at the university I live next to, so I set it as my goal to walk over there and back, and to avoid being attacked by a goose. 😅 They are nasty animals, but not as bad as swans.

Yay, Squid! I’m so excited about the progress you are making. You are inspiring!
And I meant to say earlier, another reason for lack of workers is less available chile care. Also, a large percentage of women have not been able to return to work due to virtual classrooms and needing to be at home because men get paid more, so if someone has to stop working it’s usually the woman.

Morning ladies 🌞
Squid, yay on walking further!
Ann, that's awesome 😎
Tootles, it wasn't a wasted trip since I got what I needed, just none of the things I wanted 🤣
I made DH go to bed early last night so we can get to the car cruise BEFORE it starts. We won't stay the whole time since we do have to hit the grocery store in the way home. I'm out of chicken breasts too.
Looking forward to the food trucks at the cruise 🍗🌭🍔🌮🍦

Ann, that sounds awesome! Take lots of pics.
Gyp, the car cruise sounds fun. Is it like a parade or something?
Squid, I just amazed at how well you;re doing!

Jels, not a parade. Just cars parked with hoods and doors open so people can look at them. Classic cars, motorcycles, etc. Kind of like a fair since they have food trucks and love music.
We decided to go to a different car cruise since DHs buddy was going to this other one. We used to take the Camaro DH had, and then the motorcycles to different cruises. They are fun.

$19 McDonald’s, $324 Ann Taylor online, $127 Costco, $21 Costco gas top off. We may go to the farmers market today sort of just for fun. It’s rainy and we want to get the kids out.
My birthday dinner was fun. My friends paid. We also had a bbq at my parents’ house yesterday. I would be happy to lay around today but my kids don’t really relax.
We’ll see how the clothes I ordered fit. Everything is half off through tomorrow. My wardrobe could use a refresh.

Afternoon Hotties: Squid, that is why I like to walk before 7 am. Evenings here are too hot. Jels, I am instant gratification too.....like I want the couch and the new lamps and entire room done in one day...LOL can't wait and forever picking stuff. Ann, sounds like it will be so much fun....and wow at homemade candles. Storming here and I have the patio doors open enjoying it. I think a a nap will follow. Midway through last season of Peaky Blinders and then I think Ozark is next. Plenty of time to binge with all of my shows "done" for months to come. Yesterday were a couple of the bit longer walks with the brats. Back is no worse, but not ok at all ok if that can be understood. Meals were mindful and after a few samples gave away the rest of the chocolates to the grands. My fav was cheesecake cream in a chocolate and truffle cream with a cherry inside a chocolate heart plus the chocolate covered potato chips through the Lucy Machine.....something about the salty and sweet. I will have to eat salads for a couple days. I wish we would get a Kroeger..your sales sound better than ours.

Hotties! DH is trying to work outside. It's currently 105. We haven't been home in June since I retired. I need to get at this and get ready to go. Last night I couldn't sleep so I was up at 2:30 sorting through my clothes. I have most of it figured out. I was also going through my jewelry. Last year I had gone through all of it and decided what I wanted to leave to who. I had it all in separate packages with notes on each. (HA, I lived) Now I'm thinking of taking some of it and giving it away. I have a couple of steaks ready for the grill. We may have leftovers for salad with steak tomorrow too. scarlett11, Your birthday sounds like it was fun. Gypsy3n8, We go to the cars shows quite often. It's fun to see all the cars. DH talks to a lot of the owners. We never felt like we had the extra funds to have one of the old ones. Seeing them is enough for me. Our shows usually have live music and that's fun, too. My brother has a '54 Ford panel truck. It's cool. I bought him a HUGE over sized gorilla at a garage sale. Black with a pink chest. Goofy face. It sits in the passenger seat when they are parked, but it's so big you can't see around it to drive safely.

Jels,Jells get to it. You'll feel good once it's done. One less thing to think about. annhtx I didn't check out the Kroger ad this week. I'm doing my best to cook up the pork I have and don't plan on restocking other than the pork butt. I get a rash if I eat too much of it. That whole fryer price is great. I would have bought one if I shopped at Kroger this week. I haven't been to a car show in years. I need to find one in my area. They are always so much fun. Good music, good food and good people having a good time.

I put my vaccination to the test last night. I was inside with 150 maskless people/strangers standing shoulder to shoulder for 3 hours watching a bluegrass concert. Half of the people were in their 20s and 30s so I was probably surrounded by quite a few unvaccinated people. If I get even a sniffle I'm going to test myself for Covid with the at home testing kit I bought last month. Azflamingo22 is it humid in Arizona? 105 would feel like 125 in KY and you would be soaking wet as soon as you stepped outside. A cold front is hitting this afternoon. I'm looking forward to the 60s again. We went on a coffee cruise this morning for a few hours and I'm just now home and settled so I'm starting on meal prep now.

Here is the meal plan for the week using only kitchen freezer meat.
Roast - Currently in the crockpot for dinner tonight. There will be plenty of leftovers. Whole turkey breast - TBD Pork tenderloin - Slow cooker pork carnitas using the frozen orange juice I saved from the last time I made these. I was very happy I remembered I had that in the freezer. 6 raw hamburger patties - Manwich and tater tots. I'll get to use the leftover buns from camping last week instead of letting them go stale. 2 Angus cubed steaks - TBD 1.5 lbs. of raw diced chicken - Chicken salad that will be served on the 4 remaining pieces of rye bread. Each slice is huge so it will make 4 sandwiches.
This gets me well on my way to being able to use the basement freezer meat again. There is some really good seafood in there that I'm craving.

Prepping is done!
Chicken salad is made, Carnitas are marinating in the fridge in the crock that will be used for cooking it tomorrow, 2 very deluxe salads topped with a fresh hard boiled egg and sliced leftover steak are in the fridge.
DH went hiking and found a nice bundle of chicken in the woods (mushrooms) so now I'm researching a way to prepare it that will go nicely with the roast I'm cooking for dinner tonight.

When I lived in Northern IN I enjoyed going to the Studebaker car shows. I submitted my first ever Instacart order to Kroger for delivery to my house tonight between 5-7 pm. We'll see how this goes. I've eaten thru or thrown out a lot of food we bought while my sister and brother were here. I clicked the button for No Substitutions. I got a msg. they were out of 1 lb. of ground sirloin, so I canceled some other items that went with it. I was wanting to make a stovetop meat and pasta dish using ground sirloin, pasta, onion, pepper, and a can of Manwich. My Kroger and Instacart accounts are linked (supposedly so they should be able to access my digital coupons.
