What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.

Hi everyone,
so sorry for the late start! I was sotired after watching the debate last night, that i (dumbly) decided to start the thread in the a.m. Then i promptly forgot!
today, i thought we'd take a fun "self-quiz" which i saw in a magazine. How does this relate to the week's theme of "autumn and aging"? well this is a stretch, but when you get older, you can much more happily do things just cuz they're fun. (I said it was a stretch...)

1. It may be heresy but getting up early in the morning is highly overrated.
2. I think I'm really good at putting up with my DH's mangled English-Hebrish.
3. I think I'm really bad at directions. Even the GPS has given up on me.
4. The movie I've seen the most times is Gladiator and Zorba the Greek.
5. I feel sexiest when I'm in a hotel room.
6. I love the smell of meat on the grill.
7. I can sum up my life in this bumper sticker "I'm dancing as fast as I can".

Oh, these are fun!
1. It may be heresy but wearing high heels is highly overrated.
2. I think I'm really good at my job.
3. I think I'm really bad at making latkes. (I'm barred from doing it; I've burned up the pan twice!)
4. The movie I've seen the most times is Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella with Lesley Ann Warren.
5. I feel sexiest when I'm relaxed and don't have a pile of work or chores to do.
6. I love the smell of lilies.
7. I can sum up my life in this bumper sticker: "Don't Dream It - Be It!"

Hello All! This IS fun!
1. It may be heresy but maintaining your youth is overrated.
2. I think I'm really good at laughing at myself.
3. I think I'm really bad at keeping houseplants alive. Those that thrive on neglect are still with us....
4. The movie I've seen the most times is "Dirty Dancing" - with my daughter & granddaughters (we say the lines in various parts)
5. I feel sexiest when I'm a little stoned.
6. I love the smell of earth, after a light rain.
7. I can sum up my life in this bumper sticker "Don't follow me, I'm lost!"

Have enjoyed these but I'm not with the program today. My boss has been out of the office with pneumonia for nearly 4 weeks. Our CFO has been out for the same amount of time following complications of some back surgery. 2 editors that resigned in the last few months have not been replaced and there is no plan to replace them. Our Spring list (we have 2 seasons, fall and spring) is pitiful – very few books and only one with any meat on it. So morale is not high.
My boss made it in for an hour or two today. He called me into his office and told me that he can’t go on losing money – he said he lost $500,000 this past year. He would like to try to sell the company, or find an investor and change the direction, or something. It’s unclear at this point what will happen. He may just continue the reprints for some period of time in which case he would want me to do that on a freelance basis. If the company is sold he offered me 6 months salary.
I don’t have anything more to say about it right now.
