yes Beth, it is best to keep it to topics we have in common. I have my riding lesson today so of course it is one of my favorite days of the week! It is also laundry day, boring but necessary.

BETH-they mentioned Isaiah in the mysticsm class--mentioned Lillith--did you study her? DUTCH-hooray for sales. hope Ally like her new rain sheet. BARB-how's Tundra?
had a good harp lesson. then went to the mall to pick up my pre-sale stuff and get them wrapped.
Question-do you get Christmas/ Chanukah gifts for your horses? Even though I didn't own, I'd get something for Dorito (a sheet , or a gift certif for a massage)
waving to all. HAGD

Faye-I have to say I don't know who Lillith is. I've been taught that Isaiah was one of the prophets of God who prophesied to Israel to repent and return to God before the the capture of Israel by the Assyrians. It is one of the books in our Bible in the section we call the Old Testament which is before Jesus was born. The New Testament is the birth of Jesus and after. I know my Christian teachings but there is so much to the Jewish teachings I would love to learn. What did your class say about Isaiah? Tell me more about Lillith. If it's too much to post here you can always post under messages here or email me.
Dutch-glad you could get Ally another rain sheet. I love getting a good sale.
Barb-hope you had a good ride.
Libby-are you feeling better now?
Amy-hope you have a good lesson. I love hearing about your lessons as I've never had a formal lesson. I learned to ride in the school of hard knocks. I probably have some bad habits to my riding style.
Cathy-didn't you used to take lessons years ago?

Barb-you posted while I was typing. Glad Tundra is back to her old self.
I never bought any gifts specifically for the horses. When I had 10 at one time (3 of them were babies, 2 yearlings, a 2 yr old and the rest were older) it could get expensive getting them something.

Good morning Thursday BETH-so you may want to check this at your Bible class as I was writing fast so may be a bit off but Lilith was mentioned in Isiah. She was the first wife of Adam but wouldn't consummate the union and so was banished and G-d then created Eve. Lilith was then made then not to have children so may prey on women in childbirth SO we but red ribbons in cribs to ward off Lilith. (I actually had an aunt who made me put a red ribbon in the crib, I did it under the mattress, but had no idea why. this explained it). do not quote me on this but I think it's close. Barb may know. that's why it was mentioned in the mysticsm class-the red ribbon and amulets to protect women in childbirth.
BARB-I used to do candy canes too. glad tundra is back to normal.
Kaballah class today then lunch with a friend. HAGD

Morning all- Faye-enjoy your class & lunch! Dutch- yes, extras are always good - Penny has 2 rain sheets, 2 med weight & 2 heavy weight blankets - so if one gets really wet.....but one of the heavy weights is from Aaron so it is about 8-9 years old and even with spraying each spring it's not too "waterproof" so it is last resort s the wet will freeze between the layers!-oh yes-we also have a fleece liner! (spoiled -not my horse!)
Today is my Nov day to "gallery sit" in order for me to be able to display in the group gallery -but as in last month - most likely there will be no customers- so 4 hours of reading ahead!
Beth- interesting that you never had lessons - and you did show? pretty impressive then!

She was the first wife of Adam but wouldn't consummate the union and so was banished and G-d then created Eve. Lilith was then made then not to have children so may prey on women in childbirth After reading your response, I went and Googled this www.biblicalarchaeology.org/daily/people-cultures-in-the-bible/people-in-the-bible/lilith/. I checked the Isaiah reference in several versions and all my versions called her a night spirit and not by the name of Lilith. I checked the Genesis references and realized that we are taught they are the same occurrence and not 2 separate occurrences. That's why I've never heard the name Lilith mentioned in the Bible. Beth- interesting that you never had lessons - and you did show? My lessoning was from reading books and magazines and then just going out to try them. Also gaited horses are a different ride than walk/trot type horses. And yes I did show gaited horses.

Hi, all...took a day off so that I wouldn't annoy those who didn't want political banter Faye, I love hearing your stories and Beth's stories. I always found religious texts interesting. They have - or used to have - the Lillith Faire, which is a bunch of female musicians performing. Beth, I did used to take riding lessons and show. Probably beginning early 20's, through early 30's. After that, both horses were out of reach and I just catch rode for a couple who usually had a few horses laying around Libby, I am so excited about your kitchen renovation! You will LOVE having a new kitchen...I know I do Dutch, one can never have too many horse blankets! Barb, glad Tundra is back to normal. It will be interesting to see if she's learned to stay away from porcupines. Have fun reading today! I never bought specific holiday gifts for horses. They usually got way more than they needed at any time of the year. I do buy something, usually funny, for the cat every year Had a nice walk yesterday...almost 80 degrees here. I thought we were headed to sweater weather so not too happy with the heat. It cools down at night so at least we have that. Hope to swim today. Cathy

The weatherman just said that we've been 53 days without measurable rain and no foreseeable rain in the next week. We have already broken a record for the most days without rain. The days are gorgeous and pleasant but we do need some rain. We are under a burn ban.

Good morning Friday BETH-same here, no rain , we've been in a drought since the beginning of the summer. I think I watered the lawn once and then it went into effect so that was it. hope we get rain or, hate to say this, lots of snow. anything wet! CATHY-smart to have stayed home. I'm doing very little FB, tired of the politics; even watching as little news as possible. Been taping old TV shows waving to all. Ensemble rehearsal in the morning at my teacher's house. show Sunday. HAGD

Hi, all! Faye, had my harp lesson last night. She had me doing this "polyphonic" exercise where you play 2 notes in the left hand and 3 notes in the right hand. She said it was good for the left brain/right brain and that it's used a lot in Scottish songs. Have a good practice! Barb, what are you reading as you spend your time watching the shop? Is Upreach the therapeutic horse place? I'm confused Beth, we got your rain. We had the wettest October in 25 years! Now, we're in the 80's. Go figure. Hope DH is OK post-dentist! Libby, yeah, carrots are the go-to treat for horses...wonder if that's why I like them so much? Hi to Amy and Dutch! Got in the swim yesterday. My goggles have started fogging though so annoyed. The pool has been unusually warm so I'm wondering if it's that. Anyone have a good cornbread recipe? I have to make some for a potluck Sunday (main course is chili). I found one that had honey in it and supposedly good with chili (ying/yang kind of thing I guess). Cathy

Busy day yesterday, to the attorney, downtown Seattle, then to Bellevue to the kitchen cabinet shop. Finalized the cabinets with the help of a designer. Added some really cool corner pull outs instead of the old Lazy Susan types (had 2 of them). Today will go look at appliances, as they are having great sales! Bringing ds and his friend to a country western concert tonight at the Tacoma Dome, df is going also, we said we are getting Starbucks to stay awake! lol Should be fun. Tomorrow night going to an Eagles band tribute, I think it's a film at a local theater. Happy Veterans day everyone!!

Hi Horse friends, WI up .8 but not worried. I know why.
Went out to lunch for Veterans day with my DH who served in the Navy. Decided to walk around furniture store afterwards and ended up buying a new kitchen table. We are replacing a big one that seats 6 to 8 with the leaf. The new one is round and seats 4. Unexpected but nice purchase.
I was not able to pursue horses as much as I would have liked in my youth. I did some summer camp lessons and when I was 18 worked on a race horse training farm for a year and a half. That is where I did most of my riding and rode the horses used to "pony" the TB's. I used to ride every day with my friend during free time and rode trails and fields and jumped logs etc. Did not have any lessons but a lot of saddle time so I learned how to stay on! As an older adult I am finally living out my childhood dream of having my own horse, taking lessons and showing. When I started out with my original trainer (my winter trainer now) I had a good number of bad habits to fix but I have always been willing to try.
I hope all of you who need rain get some soon. We have had a fairly dry fall but no restrictions on water at this time.
Have to go to my hair appt. now.

DH is going to have to have a root canal. It's either that or lose the tooth. The Tuesday before Thanksgiving is when he'll get it done as he's off the whole week and won't have to get a sub driver. Our insurance will pay for about half of the procedure and we'll end up paying for the rest.
Cathy-send some rain to all of us in the drought areas. As far as cornbread I use the recipe that's on the package of cornmeal.
Libby-sounds like your going to have a good time with DS and friend.

I don't really buy Christmas gifts for my horse because they usually get what they need when they need it. I usually ask for horsey type things on my gift suggestion list but no one seems to buy them for me.

Good morning. The new site actually updated yesterday evening. The General Discussion board had a poll a couple of weeks ago about changing the name of this site as this forum was not really affiliated with WW anymore.
Faye-hope your gig goes well. Did you go to the Kabbalah class?
Barb-I know Tundra will enjoy her walk with you as you are part of her pack.
Amy-how nice you could buy a new table.
Cathy-is the pool you swim at and indoor or outdoor pool?
Libby-happy kitchen renovation.
Dutch-how long are you planning to visit the Netherlands? Isn't that where the Frisians originated from?
