Good morning friends,
Joyce, I did my taxes yesterday also. I was nervous because it was my first full year of retirement and wasn't sure how that would change things. Turns out it was almost exactly the same as last year.
I've been sad all weekend, wasn't sure whether I had a cold or depressed or what. I'm going to try to boost my spirits somehow today. So many things trigger me when I least expect it.
Sorry to be a downer. I hope you all are doing well.

Good morning! I missed posting yesterday. We drove back from MA and had brunch with some friends yesterday. Got home and crashed. Hugs to you maryenne , you have been going through incredibly hard times. I send you a virtual cup of coffee and some cinnamon toast. Today is meal planning, making a grocery list, shopping for groceries and a birthday present for DGGS- he is infatuated with Super Mario Brothers. I’ll make a Target run after the visit to my local high school for a meeting with a student teacher and his supervising teacher. It is finally sunny here! Cold, but sunny! Sending wishes for a peaceful day. Lynn

Good morning and Happy Monday! Mondays have an entirely different "feel" to them after retirement, at least for me. Maryenne, you absolutely are not being a downer. Your feelings are totally normal and to be expected. You've gone through a horrific tragedy. It's going to take time to recover. It's natural to have a lot of those triggers. I haven't gone through anything to compare to what you have, but I still have those triggers at times. Be kind to yourself. I hope you can find something cheerful to do today. Lynn, some of that cinnamon toast sounds good. I'll have a piece too, if you don't mind. How old is your DGGS? Little ones are so much fun! Esther, are you still in San Diego? If so I hope these terrible storms are not affecting you. Stay safe! It was good to get our taxes done and submitted yesterday. We're also getting a nice refund, although that's because I overpaid my estimated taxes throughout the year. It's so hard for me to calculate how much to pay in estimated taxes. I know what rents we expect to collect, but I don't know what repairs are going to pop up. Sometimes those can be expensive, and of course that then lowers our net income. I think I did pretty well last year though. We're getting a refund, but not a huge one so I think I paid in enough to give us a comfort cushion without letting the government use too much of our money throughout the year. Today I am going to do some laundry and house chores. I'm also going to make a pot of soup. We've been getting too lax about what we eat, and I need to get that back under control. Enjoy your day!
