What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:

Peachy, if you get a chance to post today, please let us know how the lead up to the wedding is going. We want details!
Staying with the subject of hearts and valentines for one more day, I don’t know if any of you have heard of the concept of GALentine’s Day. The idea is to honor the fact that there are gals, that is, good women friends, in your life. Of course, it’s a great way to expand the holiday and sell more cards and candy, but it is still very sweet, in my opinion.
So I’m sending out GALentines wishes to my lovely sisters on this thread. We have been together a loooong time! We have been through deaths, friendship breakups, wins and losses, and there are many many more milestones ahead! (Including the marriage of Peachy’s son coming up!).
What do you think of GALentines?

Good morning! I just heard about GALentines when I got an email from a local Italian restaurant, talking about bringing GALentines to their restaurant for dinner on Valentine's Day. What a great idea! And I join Lynne in wishing all of you wonderful ladies all the love, life and laughter we can find!
We're up early to drop off our cat at the kitty hotel at our vet's, then I'm off to get a manicure, pedicure and a neck massage as soon as my favorite salon opens a 9 a.m. While I'm doing that, DH is going to get his car washed, then he, DS33 and I will load up and hit the road, stopping for an early lunch somewhere along the way. It's cloudy today but not rainy, and the rain forecast for San Diego for the day of the wedding (Sunday) has changed to cloudy. Hooray!
At 6 p.m., we're meeting Holly and her DH for dinner, as well as the soon-to-be-newlyweds, hooray again! We've met in person twice before. The first time was at our house for Shabbat dinner, so both my sons have met Holly and remember her. I'm looking forward to seeing Holly and her DH again!
All right folks, I'm going to go collect the cat and get going. I'll be back when I can, and I'll keep you updated!

I wrankle a little at "galentine" as a marketing ploy as I have always sent valentines to my mother, girl friends, great niece etc. without a marketing name for it. I take it to be a holiday about love, romantic or otherwise. So I'm for it in prnciple.

The first time I heard it (and then figured out what it meant), I thought it was lovely. I haven't gotten involved in the commercial involvement, but then I don't usually get suckered into any commercial involvement for stuff...
Yes, may all of us enjoy life and all it has in store for us!
