Good morning everyone,
Sounds like preparations for the holidays are underway. I haven't actually done anything, but am thinking about it. I suspect our holiday meals will be either at our house or my cousins' down at the Sopchoppy River. I haven't put up a big tree for years, but it occurred to me while we were in Buffalo that I have a wonderful artificial tree that we could put on the front porch. Safe from kitties! So I'll start working on that while I'm off for Thanksgiving. Just lights on it though, because decorations would probably blow off. I wonder if any birds will nest in the tree.
I wanted to mention how well DH is doing with his retirement last July. He is so relaxed now and is finding all kinds of things to do. Yesterday he vacuumed the entire house! He's cooking dinner most every night as well. I'll take it!
I hope you all have a great Wednesday ~ find something good to do for yourself. I think I'll go to yoga tonight.

Good morning Maryenne and ATF,
Maryenne, glad your DH is using some of his retirement time to make your life easier which in the end gives the two of you together time. My DH had "man jobs" vs "woman jobs" engrained in his upbringing. He will just ignore something in the kitchen just to sit down but with that said he was wonderful when I was recouping back in Feb. and March. He did laundry, grocery shopping and meal preparation, He will do almost anything but I have to ask.
Today is our first meeting with a prospective builder. I ran the numbers last night so we have our max budget number. We will want to come in under that so we have sufficient upgrade room and money to cover moving expenses etc. We will be looking for a 1900 to 2000 sq ft plan. DH would like a three car garage so we wouldn't need any kind of shed. Time will tell.....
I did get the Christmas Village all set yesterday. Now I have two rooms, one with Christmas stuff out everywhere and the other with crafting stuff everywhere, that are desperate for major reorganizing. That sounds like an excellent job for this afternoon as it will let my mind process everything from meeting with builder.
Do something for yourself today!! Peg

Good morning everyone! It is a foggy day here this morning, but I expect the fog will burn off soon. In fact it is already much less than when I got up.
I need to do housework today including laundry, and there's a big pile of paperwork that piled up last week while I was out. I'll be taking my mom to spend most of the day with my dad at rehab about 10:00. Then I'll take lunch to her about 12:00, and go back and pick her up for the day about 3:00. That's how we worked it yesterday, and she seemed to manage pretty well. Just got a text from friends of my mom and dad's from their hometown and old Sunday School class that they are going to be in town and will stop by to visit with them this afternoon. They will really like that.
Have a lovely day!

Good afternoon friends. We are about halfway to our NH destination. The next leg of our drive is along beautiful Lke Winnipesaukee befoywe get to the White Mountains. Maryenne, my DH retired five years before I did and he was the main chef after that until I retired. We share cooking chores now. Peg, you must be excited about the new house plans! Joyce, your parents will enjoy the visit with their friends. I am all set for Thanksgiving. There will be 14 of us for dinner and a few more for dessert. Everyone brings a dish to share. We cook the turkey, pork roast and squash, turnip and carrot mash. We serve buffet style and have take away containers for everyone to take leftovers home. I will put up my Christmas village some time the first week of December. We have a small table top tree. That goes up in the middle of the month. We spend Christmas Eve with one set of grandchildren and then go to DD's house Christmas Day. Have a great day. Lynn

Good afternoon
I got a distress call yesterday from my DD about her 17 year old cat, Lili. She has not been well for some time and fell down and was unable to get up. I did not realize that she had not taken her to the vet because of finances. We went to the emergency vet last night and all they could do was put her down. She apparently had some form of heart failure. I am upset with myself that I had not thought to ask about the vet. I wish I could have been more helpful. At least she had someone with her when she had to part with the poor kitty. She was a lovely affectionate cat and my DD is in great distress.
I tried to get one of the younger generation to take over Thanksgiving dinner since I am so lame, without success. My DD and my brother both said they would come help. I need to make a list of tasks for them both so I really get some help from them. Everyone will bring a dish, but that still leaves me with most of the work. Cleaning the house and then standing and cooking for hours is just too painful.
My two fellow condo owners have agreed to a meeting on Sunday so we will see if I can get them to take more of their share of the work and finances here. If not then I am going to look for another place to live.
