Good Sunday morning to everyone
We had a quiet Thanksgiving with my DD's family here. My DD and my DGS's girlfriend helped me cook so it was not too tiring for me. My DS went to his wife's family. My brother, who has mental health issues, is missing. He usually makes sure to come for family holidays so I am worried about him. He is supposed to come over at the end of this week so I will be patient for a few days before starting a search for him.
Peg - Have a safe trip home.
I am starting my turkey soup today. Most of it will go into the freezer. It makes a good quick supper with a side salad.
Enjoy the day!

Good morning, Esther and all to follow, Esther, I'm happy that you had help for Thanksgiving, but so sorry about your brother. I do hope he shows up soon. One of my sons has mental health issues, and I know how it feels to worry for our loved ones. We went out yesterday to do some errands and I decided to stop and buy a pot roast to cook. I really should have waited until today to cook it, because at 8:30 last night it and its vegetables were not quite done. I'm going to put it back on today. I also made up some chocolate chip cookie dough, which I will cook today. It's from this recipe: www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2013/12/the-food-lab-best-chocolate-chip-cookie-recipe.html and it calls for browning butter, which I had never done before, chopping the chocolate instead of using chips, and then refrigerating the dough over night. They'd better be good after all that! Peg, travel safely today. Hugs all around! Maryenne

Good morning friends. Esther and Maryenne,I understand the worry of loving someone with mental health issues as our family has dealt with this as well. It can be an emotional roller coaster at times. My heart and virtual hugs go out to you and your families. Pot roast sounds good Maryenne! Esther, I have always loved cooking with my daughters and now my granddaughter. The timing of the dinner this year did not allow for that. They both contributed to the meal but there was no common cooking this year. We ordered our new bed, it's being delivered Tuesday. So we will be here a bit longer than I anticipated. I bought a runner and a couple of small rugs yesterday at Home Goods. Today we will be getting a toaster. My little second home town has few options for such things. We may drive to Connecticut or New York for this purchase. We are 10 minutes from either state! Safe travels Peg! I hope things are uneventful for you today Joyce! Have a great day! Lynn

Good afternoon
The weekend is going too fast. We have had nice weather in Kansas but it is cloudy and windy now with rain predicted for later.
Interesting about the chocolate chip cookie recipe. My mother's recipe used chopped chocolate rather than chips. And my daughter uses the browned butter for rice krispie bars and gets such rave reviews on them.
My twelve year old granddaughter was here on Friday and we made Swedish Kringle together. She is quite a good cook already and needed no coaching on the measuring, leveling the flour, etc. She made us scrambled eggs for breakfast to have with the Kringle. She took the recipe home with her so she can make it at home and surprise her other grandparents when they visit. I don't get to see her very often so we had a very nice time together.
I have been dealing with a cold but think it is finally nearing the end. Hope to go back to water exercise in the morning. I am much stiffer in the legs, etc., after not being in that warm therapy pool.
Have a good week
Janice
