Good morning everyone,
Peg, be safe on your travels today.
Esther, your granddaughter sounds like a peach!
Nothing to report here except I go back to work today. Not a busy week at all which has its pros and cons. I don't plan to take any time off between now and Christmas.
Have a great Monday - hope it's not blue or stormy!
Maryenne

Good morning everyone,
A very wet dark with lots of traffic drive yesterday afternoon, at least no ice or snow. I was glad to get to our hotel. We only have about five hours to drive today but it is supposed to rain most if not all of the way. We had a great visit. I will try to get laundry done when we get home this afternoon.
Have a great day!
Peg

Good morning friends. Safe travels today, Peg. A not busy day is a nice start to the week after a long weekend, Maryenne! We are driving to Connecticut today. We are going shopping for a toaster. And getting a bit of cabin fever after three days of rain! I need to get a wreath for the house, too. Esther, soup and salad are one of my favorite easy suppers! Janice, good to hear from you! I miss hearing from Michelynn and Joan. I hope all is well with them. Have a great day. Lynn

Good morning everyone!
Maryenne, have a good start back at work today.
Peg, safe travels for you and glad you had such a lovely visit.
Lynn, hope you find the perfect toaster, but shopping for that wreath sounds like more fun! Hope you find a beautiful one.
Waving to Esther, Michelynn, and Joan.
DD came up yesterday to visit with my dad, and DH and I took her out to lunch. It was a nice visit, and it was good to spend some time with just her as normally the DGKs are with her when she comes so the focus is on them. My dad and mom were really glad to see her, and it helped their spirits to be with her. She's their only grandchild, so she's always been very special to them.
This morning I'm feeling more hopeful about my dad's situation. I was very worried over the long weekend, because his strength had decreased significantly very quickly starting on Thanksgiving Day to the point he could barely stand on Saturday. On a weekend, and especially a long holiday weekend, the nursing home/rehab center is short staffed as I expect most of them are. The nurse on duty for him was one he had never had before, and frankly she didn't seem to be too concerned despite my appeals that something was very wrong. A few days ago he was able to walk 100 ft with his walker, and by Saturday he could barely stand. Her response to me, "well, maybe he's tired." Ugh!!! I suspected possible dehydration, but she just dismissed my concerns. Long story short, on Saturday evening I sent a message to the doctor. I didn't expect anyone would see it before today, but fortunately the doctor actually checked his messages and stopped by the facility yesterday morning. He stopped the extra diuretic my dad was getting, and decreased one of his BP medicines. Just that fact that someone listened, and did something made me feel better. I believe this very likely is going to make a difference. I have every hope that he will quickly gain back the strength he lost between Thursday and Sunday. It helped me anyway to not feel like I was expressing my concerns to a "brick wall."

Good morning
I woke to a flat tire this morning so I missed services. It is an unfamiliar way to start the week. It turned out that I had a nail in the tire. They were able to plug the hole so I didn't have to buy a new tire.
Peg - Safe travels.
Joyce - I hope your dad is doing better. You always have to be an advocate for a loved one in a medical facility.
Lynn - I bought a new toaster on sale last week. I thought they were a standard size, but this one is much smaller than my old one. It will be OK for just me, but I would have bought a bigger one if I had been aware of the size. I hope you find one you like.
Have a good Monday all
Joan and Michelynn - Where are you?
