Good Morning all - Faye- thanks for getting us going this week! Well the snow finally landed -we got about 4-5" over night -now warming up -kind of misting/raining -supposed to stop later on -we got out & fed & cleaned the horses -they are all munching happily (does anyone know how to post a photo to here?)
Heard from Judy that she is working hard on rehab -going for another surgery on Wednesday -says to say hi -
Faye - how was your show ? Amy - did you go to the show to watch? or did you ride (a better option in my opinion!)
Waving to all - stay warm, safe - ride if you can - HAGD - CBL

Poor Judy! Barb; glad you were able to get out and feed! We got just a 1' dusting here last week. Had to break ice off water buckets 2 days, bring hoses in at night. Faye; sorry you didn't feel as good about your show as last time. If a lot is going on it might have made it harder for all to focus! Tuesday at the library should be better Amy; did you go to the show? I think I remember you decided not to ride in it. Could your trainer take him in a class so you could watch the first time? Cathy; your so brave to go to the harp show! Beth; nice dh will get a break from driving! how is his tooth? My dh just finished up an implant, total bill was over 5k! insurance paid 1/2 - I should tell him that's his Christmas present!! Dutch; how are you doing? Question; how much is horse boarding in your parts? I used to pay 375.00/month at a barn up the road that has a covered arena, 12 x 12 stall and an attached run, they fed hay 2x a day, buy your own grain and they would feed it. Had to pay extra for shavings, turn out, or a noon feeding. I just found out she now charges 550.00 a month! That was just 3 years ago! Another barn close to me charges 425.00 and has a small covered arena and run in sheds, I don't like it because they use electric fence for all the fields and paddocks. Lucy would run thru that if they lost power! Heidi was looking for a place for the horse she bought recently and dh told her she can't keep it here. She found a place that isn't very far from here that only charges 180.00 a month. it has stalls with runs, and an outdoor arena. I'm going to go look at it with her sometime next week. Quite a price difference! Well, speaking of horses, I'd better go feed mine!

BARB-we only got a dusting of snow. show was ok. but very few people and one kept talking loudly through it. so I lost focus a few times but kept going. I think they liked it. One thanked me and the person talking would say "lovely " after the tunes so I guess she liked it. and she sang loudly through First Noel. so guess she liked that one. but people were telling her to be quiet. Her aide apologized after but it is a senior residence and I should be able to ignore it. Library tomorrow night so looking forward to that. LIBBY-how's the renov. going? thanks. It was differnt. usually I talk about the tunes but could tell they weren't interested so I just played pretty much and said very little. so that changes it up a bit too. We did a singalong for Jingle bells. AMY-do you know how the show went? how was the weather? CATHY-when is your harp show? DUTCH-hi how's it going?
waving to all. HAGD

Hi, all! Faye, it's good that you were able to keep playing even with the outside noise. I guess with Senior facilities, you'll get those who just want to enjoy - fully - in all the musical happenings The show is Jan 7th. Barb, glad you were able to get to the barn to feed...I'm sure the ponies appreciated it! Libby, I wouldn't know what it costs anymore, haven't boarded since my 30's. Even then I thought it was expensive; I guess it depends on the level of care your getting. My trainer was at a small barn run by people who had no idea how to run a horse barn. When we left there, I couldn't afford the new training barn, so ended up at a private barn, which ended up being SO much better. Does DH feel you have enough horses Beth, hope you're doing well! Harp teacher had a "show" last night. Some of her friends etc who are also musicians played. It was nice, sort of a going-away night for her (plus a way to make some extra money as she mentioned that moving was more expensive than she thought). One more lesson left... I didn't sleep well last night...tried all my tricks, nothing worked. I'd like to go get a tree today (cut your own) so we'll see what my energy level is later this afternoon. Cathy

Hi all Board here really varies. Full care (you provide hay/grain) at $275 all the way to a fancy dressage place (that I know of) at $800. This is a 'special' place lol. I'll say I find the average to be $450-600. Right now I'm looking at two place at $375. I'm looking because I'll be out of town for a few weeks in March. I could get a house/pet sitter, but we have so few amenity's that IF Ally did something stupid - I don't want someone (just a pet sitter) there. So I'm thinking boarding her for 2 months. Gets her more social also (other horses). Covered arena and I can work with her a bit more. Ally is doing good. Still waiting on papers to come via mail. Just wet and cold here. Threats of snow, but it's more a non-event than anything normally.

Boarding - interesting subject- I pay $375 for what I call "semi-rough" board - they provide grain (although not the best- that's another story for another time- but they are doing fine on it ) 2x a day -hay -again the quality varies 2x a day and they do the feeding. They are turned out 24/7 with a shed -I (& Dee) have put up the strips and stall mats & shavings. We have a heater in the water trough. We are responsible for cleaning shed/pasture & we feed a lunch hay. When I moved in years ago w/ Aaron & was buying my own feed I took $50 a month off the board -Dee buys all her own grain but pays full amount as she loads up on hay. We also fill nets for hanging at dinner & will put 3-4 flakes in for a meal. We supply any supplements we want. And for the last 2 winters Dee & I bought 70 or so bales of hay so we could feed them as much as we wanted & not worry about the barn running out. Not sure if we will have to do that this year as he bought hay for 3 and the other boarders horse is not eating hay due to age/teeth. But as I said -some of it is very straw-y and they leave a lot of it.
I have a friend who charges $625 for full board, no indoor, an outdoor ring. Another barn in the area charges $575 -they have an indoor -full board BUT they charge for blanketing -not sure how much.
To be honest after having my horses in a full turn out situation for the past 8 years I don't know that i would ever want to stall a horse again -as long as there is a shed & heated water.
DH & I are getting quotes for having all the windows in our house replaced -they are original for the house -30 years old - and some are showing their age. the prices are shocking and all over the place. but it needs to be done.
Cathy - hope you can get some sleep tonite -do you take melatonin? I take 5mg at night & it does help.

Good afternoon. Just got back from town. I woke up with a terrible crick on the left side of my neck radiating down the back of my left arm. I've never had the pain go down my arm before so I made an appointment with my chiropractor this morning. He took some x-rays and the degenerative arthritis in my neck has gotten worse. He pinpointed the area that is causing the pain. The C6-7 vertebra has narrowed and pinches the nerve. I go back and see him tomorrow.
As far as boarding... I don't know as I didn't board. I kept them at my place. Also I never boarded any other horses. and as to posting pictures, besides using Tapatalk from your phone, if you scroll over the NewGDT tab it will show a board for announcements and a board for support and how to.
Barb-will your snow melt?
Libby-an implant is even more costly than a crown. Double ouch.
Faye-maybe the senior resident couldn't hear very well and that might be why she talked so loud. Just guesing.
Cathy-hope your last lesson is a good one.
Dutch-lovely picture. How long will you be staying in the Netherlands?

Good morning Tuesday
My neck is feeling much better this morning. I go back to to see the chiropractor this morning for another adjustment. It's raining here and also foggy at the same time. No I didn't go to the track to walk this morning.
Dutch-is Ally a walk/trot or gaited horse?

trying this photo Guess it didn't work - oh well - good morning -don't think the snow will melt - I may try to take Penny out this afternoon to walk -but have to see how icy the trail is -our roads are too heavily traveled to ride on the road -and they are saying below zero wind chill Thursday & Friday -time to pull out fleece liner & heavy blanket.
Beth -hope the chiro helps you - I have never been to one -Dutch have fun on your travels.

Faye; I looked up the Cuisinart info, then went to see what my model number is and it's a kitchen aid. Barb; I couldn't get the picture to open. Your area seems high for board, just like ours. Beth, yea, an implant is expensive. He did it over about 9 months and we made payments I think we still owe - ouch! Glad you never had to board, it's got it's own set of issues! Cathy; I keep telling dh my next horse is going to be a black and white paint - so, I'm preparing him lol, some of the nicer barns around here charge 800$/month Dutch; like I said, I'm in love with Ally! Have fun on your trip! Wow, Netherlands! I didn't get to go to look at the boarding stables, as I had to go pick out a different stove and fan for the kitchen, the one I picked out was nla!. I really like the one I picked Anyways, Heidi sent me pictures. A really cool old barn, huge! and nice big outdoor arena (pond in one half like mine lol) round pen - I didn't like that all the fencing was electric fence. Like I said, power outage and Lucy would be headed for the hills! It's old, yet kept up fairly well. She secured a stall for her horse. When dh heard how much it was, he was like- heck lets board our horses there! lol HAGD everyone, my dniece is having a hysterectomy today, she has first stage uterine CA (the niece who lived with us the last two years of her high school, she's 31 now). My dd is going to the hospital with her this morning and I'm going to watch her 2 yo for a few hours so her mom can go. The prognosis is good, she won't have to have any chemo. Prayers please!

Hi, all! Libby, sorry about dneice. 31 seems awfully young for a hysterectomy, but if it prevents the CA than yay! Bummer about the stove...seems like you're having to go for 2nd choice a lot Faye, you must be getting ready for the library show? Beth, I hope the chiro can get the last of the kinks out! Barb, I've heard that folks take melatonin...I guess I should look into it. I thought I read somewhere that your body makes it naturally and if you take extra, your body stops making it. So...not sure but I will do some more snooping about it. I DID sleep better last night Dutch, wow...Ally is really growing...she looks bigger! The trip sounds fun...you go back a lot don't you? Went to the tree farm and they were CLOSED!! I never go this late. The owner was there and said they closed early because they wanted to keep the trees they had due to the drought, blah blah blah. The other tree farm was in the opposite direction so too far. She did have a few tress sitting in water that she had cut that morning AND they were priced quite low...so took one of those. Different than the usual douglas fir (not as much scent) but I have infusers...I'll just get some pine scent at the store Will try to swim today. Cathy

CATHY-hope you get to swim . Library show tonight at 7. sorry about the tree but glad you got one LIBBY-best wishes and good luck to DN. that does sound very young, but good they caught it. probably then early menopause. also depends if taking ovaries and tubes as well. Good luck. funny about the cuisanart sorry about the stove. that happened with me and my laundry room, had to switch washers. Good luck. and hope the boarding works out BARB-hope you got to ride DUTCH-hope the paperwork comes in. BETH-hope chiro. helps some more AMY-did you go to the show Sunday to watch? ALLISON-hope all is well
what a day. Opened a case of Perrier and one sealed bottle had like 1/4 cup of liquid. and sealed cap so clearly happened when it bottled. Called Perrier and sent photos and they'll send a kit so I can send it back to France (if I fit in the kit I may go and leave the bottle here) then internet went out, then saw the recall.. it's just been really annoying. Hope the show goes well and all the gremlins of the day are gone by then

Good morning Wednesday
LIBBY-how did surgery go for DN? hope all went well and thinking of her. BETH-how was chiropractor? do you have to go back? hope you are better and neck and back don't hurt BARB-any snow melt? how long are you on Breakfast duty? pick which windows you want to get? CATHY-hope you slept better.
waving to all. Show went very, very well. Full house and the applause was the longest I ever had at the end. and people came up and said such nice things and signed up for my email blast (I send one out when i have public shows). So i was really happy. They posted on the library website my photo. I don't think I looked great , my hair is too short and the outfit didn't photo well which is good to know. Won't wear that anymore to perform in. I think it may have faded. so will go out today and look for a holiday sweater. Next show is Thursday.
Judy is having her surgery today in Boston to finish the repair on her leg/knee so let's all think good thoughts!!

Good morning. Laundry day today. Too bad the clothes don't stay clean forever once they've been washed. Neck is much better. I go tomorrow and unless I do something else to myself I won't have to go back.
Faye-Wow! An email blast. You're becoming a very accomplished harpist. Glad you had a good show. Can you get a professional photo shot to give to the people to post? You know like what is put on the back of book jackets. Let Judy know we're thinking of her. Any word on Page?
Barb-sorry about the snow and ice but I don't want it down here. Did the lady spend a lot?
Dutch-nothing wrong with a walk/trot horse. Your picture of Ally reminds me of some of the Spotted Saddle Horses in this area. They are basically gaited horses in paint/pinto colors. What are your future plans for her?
Cathy-did you get the tree decorated?
Libby-kitchen renovations NEVER go as fast as we would like. Hope DN is doing well.

Good Morning - Faye - love the photo on FB- glad it went so well for you. Yes, the woman spent a good amount -bought 3 pendants & said she would be back before Hanukkah! One more "show" this Sunday -at a temple (not mine) Hanukkah party -this is the temple where I usually do a craft show and do well -but this year they are not having a show -just the Hanukkah party -their gift shop & me!
Beth-yes laundry is on going but I have to admit (don't hate me) DH does ours -been doing it for years - not sure when/why it started just know I'm ok with it! Do the caps need to be done before xmas?
Running a few errands this morning =I'm on breakfast until next Wednesday - Dee will do weekends but since she works I usually do the week days. (BM picked a good week to be away!) It's supposed to be -0 on Friday morning - guessing Upreach will cancel lessons on Friday -that's ok w/ me!
Will attempt to take Penny out later -if too icy we will just walk & graze. Gonna be a long winter!
waving to all - keep warm - ride if you can! HAGD - CBL

As to the cap order... He said "when I get them done". So I'm in no big hurry. After Christmas will be fine. I'm saving before Christmas in case someone needs a rush order. I will have time to do it.

What are your future plans for her? I'm going to let her tell me! I'm pretty into dressage, so no matter what that training will be there. She could easily do dressage. Not sure about western - she has pretty good knee action. Waves to all! Have a great day!

Hi, all! Faye, so glad the concert went well! Do we like any of the photos taken of us Have fun shopping for a new sweater. Hope Judy does OK! Barb, how nice to get a repeat customer who SPENDS MONEY!! Hope you get to ride a bit today. Beth, have fun doing laundry Libby, hope dniece did well in sx. Dutch, Western folks really like paints, don't they? As you say, let Ally decide what she likes to do! Did swim yesterday. Am going to dr this afternoon to talk about problems with my left foot (ha ha). It's been problematic for a long time, and I always thought it was shoes, but have come to realize it's my foot. Nerve or something under one toe. Walking/hiking can be painful but I can't give that up so we'll see what she says. Tree got decorated the day I brought it home. Cat tried to strangle herself in the plastic netting but once that was discarded she's pretty well ignored it Cathy
