Good morning. Cold here in Alabama as I'm sure it is in most of the country. I may go out and get DH a few presents. Other than that I have all presents bought.
Faye/Barb-on the calendar it shows Hanukkah on the same day as Christmas but doesn't it really start Christmas Eve? Do you have your presents for Hanukkah bought?
Cathy-sorry about the expensive insulin but happy the cat is doing better.
Amy-sorry about not getting to see Lukas but it sounds like he's having fun with the pony. You have such a good setup with your trainers and boarding.
Libby-glad you had good results with the Jambalaya recipe. I tweak it as I don't use as much hot sauce as it calls for and I use turkey plantation sausage instead of Cajun sausage unless I'm bringing it to a pot luck supper.
Dutch-glad DS is excited about Santa this year. Do you have any pictures of him with Santa? If so please post them if you can.
Faye-modems and routers and dentist appt sounds like a busy day.
Barb-how did your show go?

Morning all - The show was GREAT! (Faye will appreciate this!) I did more at this "hanukkah party" in 2.5 hours than I did combined the last 2 shows! Even with giving 20% to the temple as a donation -it was great -I am now done for the season barring any last minute customers stopping by.
Beth - yes the first night of Hanukkah is Christmas eve -runs into new years! I have all my shopping done for DS & DDIL & DH - DH & I don't get each other much or big things -I'm excited that DH & DDIL will be here for the holiday since they come in for xmas.
Amy - guess I missed any news about Lukas - will go back later -hope you get to see him today.
Faye-yes -computers are a pain -can't live with em, can't live without em! HOpe all goes well at dentist. (i KNOW that sometime soon there is a root canal etc in my future! )
Off to Upreach for a "horse leading" seminar that all people dealing with the horses must take -its some new program out of CA (of course - sorry Cathy!) from what I hear it's basically what I do w/ Penny -(loose lead -keeping space) they want all leaders to use a dressage whip to keep space -it should be interesting -of sorts!
Waving to all -keep warm -ride if you can - TTFN - HAGD

Hi horse lovers, Barb, glad you had a great show! Sounds like upreach wants some consistency and respect from and for the leaders. My friend that got the new horse, Willie, also told me that he does therapeutic work 2x a month and that he will continue to do it. The people will come and get him. Sounds like it's not too far from my place, 1/2 hour or so I'll have to look into it. Dutchwife; I've got a boarder who has a coming 3 yo here, Rhoku, pronounced Roe (something about a moon shaped star on his head in Native Indian language). The last two nights she's gotten on him for the first times, only for a few steps and then back off. He is doing really well with it. She's been lunging him in a saddle for a while now. He is a welsh pony/draft cross and is about 14.2 hands, should grow taller (they hope) Heidi is about 5'10" lol. Faye; have a good dentist appointment. It's my mammogram day, then to physical therapy for my right elbow that's been giving me a lot of pain. Beth; I used regular Hillshire farms beef sausage, my dd and her dh liked it so much, she made it for dinner last night - he will have the left overs for lunch all week! Thanks again, it was a hit! Cathy, glad kitty had good news! It finally warmed up here last night no more hauling water to the horses, everything froze up! Hope that was the extent of our cold weather! Amy; hope you get to the barn soon. Wave to all, HAGD

Hi, all! Faye, thanks for your help with the harp tuning. I finally have it figured out (as well as the screenshot I sent you, I also found a lever chart for the different keys). Started practicing!! Good luck with the computer stuff. Barb, yeah, well, if its "new age" it comes from CA Hope the training goes OK. So happy that you did well at the show!! And it's great you get your son and his wife for some part of the holiday! Beth, I also like turkey sausage...I get the fresh stuff from Whole Foods. SOmetimes they have wonderful lamb sausage as well, use it in my gnocchi recipes! Libby, bummer about the elbow...too much tennis? Still butt-cold here, 29 when I woke up. But the days are beautiful! Hi to Dutch and Amy! Will go get insulin today. There's a pharmacy over by the vet clinic that sells it, but I'm buying 1000 units! I usually only get 300 at a time, but even 1000u is cheaper than the 300 I would get at the vets. I checked Costco and they don't carry this brand, but I could check Walgreens, good idea, Beth! Cathy

HI- so the training was interesting -as I suspected -some of what I do w/ Penny - loose lead, walking at mid -head/shoulder, making her walk at my speed when I walk, stop when I stop. the dressage whips are used as tools to keep the space -and to encourage walking on -or stopping. I will make a concerted effort to do this (and the dressage whip) with Penny for practice for Upreach & as groundwork as riding may be limited due to the ice!

BARB-training sounded interesting.
just got a thank you from the library director from Last Thursday's show so guess I was the only one to notice my mistakes which is usually how it is. I do keep going and try not to miss a beat so it usually just sounds like a variation. She said the patrons enjoyed it and hopes to see me next year so I'm happy. I just want everyone to enjoy it. Last library show is tomorrow then background Thursday and that's it for a while.

I did get to ride Lukas after getting out of work a little early. It was about 28 F so I took my time warming up and I had him wear a light quarter sheet. It took a while for me to warm up too. My trainer hasn't left yet but is done with lessons due to needing to pack up and make arrangements for the move to FL. I will miss them and the activity that surrounds them. This is when the barn gets very quiet.
Hi to all, I have to run to work.

Good morning. I'm working on the cap order today and may finish them today or tomorrow. Since I don't have any other orders right now I thought why not work on them today. It's only 20 caps and the same pattern for all so no constant switching of patterns.
Amy-glad you go to ride Lukas. I remember thhose cold mornings riding. I was made of sterner stuff back the. Plus a lot younger and not as decrepit as now.
Cathy-how many songs will you be playing with the ensemble?
Faye-background music tonight?
Barb-have you ever considered Penny for the Upreach program?
Dutch-how are things going with your and your family? (and critters)
Libby-is therapy helping your elbow?

LIBBY-how was PT? BARB-How's Tundra? do you still go to the dog park in the winter? DUTCH-do you put out cookies for Santa? CATHY-did you get insulin for the cat? did you decide on a new drawing to do?

The strangest thing happened at my mammo apt yesterday. I pressed the button on the key fob to my car and the key flew off! So, I had to call dh to come drive 20 minutes and bring the second set of keys. I was in my newer car so I had auto start and could still get in, it was cold and windy! I sat and listened to Christmas music while waiting. The PT went well, she said that the good news was that with ultrasound and exercises my elbow will get better and I'll be working out again! She checked my feet also and gave me some more stretches for that. I went from working out almost everyday to not working out once since September. I feel flabby! The electrical will be done on Friday, for the kitchen, then next week the sheetrock guy is coming in. Driving to Hillsboro, Oregon to have lunch with 97 yo dh's great Aunt and will p/u dgd to go with me to Nutcracker this Thursday I've been making sure Lucy has lots of hay in the evening, mare magic and gets turned out everyday (for a little bit) and so far no barn kicking HAGD everyone!

Hi, all! Faye, good luck at the show tonight! Nice of the library director to send you a note Bummer about the cavity. I do need to start the painting my brother wanted...can you tell I'm excited or what? Libby, so odd about the key! Glad the PT will help with the elbow, and the feet are doing well. I think I'm going to have to give up driving manual transmission; that might be whats exacerbating my foot, but podiatrist tomorrow will have more info. I feel flabby too Barb, so is the whip used between you and the horse? Or do you carry it on your offside? Just trying to picture it... Beth, have fun working on the cap order...might as well get it out of the way! Amy, so glad you got to ride! At 28 degrees, yeah, takes a while to get the muscles working! Hi to Dutch! No insulin yesterday...they didn't have it yet. Will call me when it's ready. Pretty frustrated because the traffic over there is horrendous but couldn't get angry with the clerk, not his fault. Definitely will check out other venues closer to home! Another freezing morning. Hope to swim today. Dad said they wanted to do lunch on Thursday, but I'm still working so not sure I'll make it over there. Cathy

HI all - DH & I volunteered at the local soup kitchen this morning - sorting food & handing out for a bit.
Beth- I'm not ready to retire Penny yet and not sure she would do well -she's a one person horse & can get a bit mareish! Hope you can get the caps done!
Amy -glad you got to ride - like Beth- I remember the cold mornings in the indoor when I was showing.....now I just wade thru the ice & snow to clean! hehe
Faye- we still are taking Tundra to the park - but it is very icy -we both have spike things we put on our boots (I also have a pair for the barn) -once you get into the back which is more wooded it is better -and she does love to play with her friends!
Cathy - so as you are standing -between the shoulder & head -facing the same way -the whip is in the outside hand -so you can flip it back to "tickle" (their word not mine) under the belly to move them on or flip to in front of chest to stop them -also using words -"walk on or whoa" . Eventually the horse should move with you -walk when you walk -at the pace you are walking and stop when you stop. As I said -i kind of do this with Penny -without the whip -she will stop when I stop -and walk on -so.....but for the therapy horses who might have 20+ handlers in a week -the consistency can only help.
DS & DDIL come in tomorrow -can't wait! waving to all keep warm - ride if you can - TTFN

Good morning, Wednesday AMY-sorry you didn't sleep well. that happens to me with change of weather so maybe that's possible. DUTCH-major congrats on the registration for Ally coming thru. Nice Christmas gift! LIBBY-hope the hand/arm improves. enjoy Nutcracker. I play "Coffee" on the harp from second act and am learning Waltz of the Flowers cadenza. Planning on learning "tea" for next year. BARB-nice of you to volunteer. yes, consistency is probably a good thing with so many working with the horses. BETH-hoping to make the Jambalaya this week. getting ingredients today. Doing better now that I'm back tracking. Lost 1.5#this week even with eating out and chocolate I also go low on carbs when I have shows (don't want hands puffy) so I think that helped, too. Will try to keep that up the show was great. a surprise before it started-a local newspaper reporter. Interviewed me, took photos and interviewed me after. that was a first. Years ago i was in a local paper but she just emailed some questions. DH thinks it was my best show yet and a couple of missed notes but I thought it went very well too and the audience was very nice and I got lots of people coming up with compliments. So all shows went well. Thursday is background so that's low stress. Just some extra tunes. This was my busiest season ever so I'm very happy . Thanks for listening Waving to all . HAGD

Good morning. Today is the last day of school for this year. It's also a half day. Got to take the car into the repair shop to check it out as the 'check engine' light came on. I'm thankful that we have 2 vehicles. Got the cap order done and will get it in the mail today.
Faye-so glad you had a great show. That's something about the news reporter. Like I said in an earlier post, you're getting famous.
Dutch-yea for getting the registration in and getting your first choice in names. Is DS getting more excited? Do you have any Santa pictures with him you can post?
Libby-sorry about the key fob. Glad the PT is helping. Hope you had a nice visit with DH's aunt.
Cathy-sorry about the insulin. What we do for our animals.
Amy-hope you are feeling better.
Barb-is Tundra full grown yet?

Hi all - Dutch -yes - exciting that you got your name! Faye- you are now a celebrity! Woo Hoo - Amy - hope you feel better & can get some sleep -go shovel out some manure that always tires me out! LOL Beth -bet you are glad cap order is done? Yes, Tundra is full grown at 42 lb +/- - just perfect for a "lap dog" or so she thinks! Hard to believe next month we have had her a year!
Took Tundra for a grooming this morning- then breakfast w/a friend -errands -barn (lunch & clean) some house work (mopped kitchen floor) and I'm exhausted! DS & DDIL in late tonite -tomorrow I am taking DDIL for a manicure when I have my appointment. Saturday night we are having "christmakkuah" at DDIL's parents' house - after they go to church -we are taking our menorah & latkes to their house to celebrate! Having dinner tonite with a friend I haven't seen in probably 5 years -she moved away -is in the area -Yikes -got to love the holidays!
Waving to the rest of the gang -enjoy your evening -

The car issue was a sensor that said a filter needed cleaning. So a quick and relativity inexpensive fix. Saturday night we are having "christmakkuah" at DDIL's parents' house - after they go to church -we are taking our menorah & latkes to their house to celebrate! I think christmakkuah is a wonderful word to express both cultures. Hope you enjoy dinner tonight with your friend.

Hope you all have a great holiday, however and whatever you celebrate! May the weather be safe enough to travel where you need to get to. No Santa pictures yet, and now probably none, as DS woke at 4:30 this morning w/ a fever of 103.4. Went to dr. Ear infection and some weird virus - per DH. Med's have been picked up... so let the healing begin! Poor guy. I love Chirstmakkuah!

Hi All, I had an interesting ride on Lukas today, we are not quite a team yet. I am enjoying him though. I have an unexpected day off tomorrow so hopefully I can finish up the last bit of gift shopping and wrapping. I am down to real stores now, not internet. This is my third Christmas without my Mom and I miss her, I guess I always will.
I am not doing well with food and avoiding cookies. I will have to redouble my efforts when Christmas is done. I will get back to tracking then.
Faye - I am glad someone is tracking! congrats on the WL. Hope the article is nice. Will it be on line too? If so, share the link.
Dutch- congrats on the registration! So exciting. Hope DS gets better quick.
Barb- it is hard to believe that you have had Tundra for a year next month. I keep thinking of her as your "new" dog.
Beth- way to knock out the cap order!
HAGN Amy
Cathy- what was it that your brother wanted you to paint? I forget.
