Good morning.
My knee still hurts. I spent most of the day sitting with my leg propped up and a heating pad on it off and on. I can't get an appt today as all the dr offices are closed today for their Christmas holiday. I'm afraid I will probably have to have surgery eventually.
DH went to his family for dinner and gift giving. His DM's dementia is getting worse. She couldn't remember what we gave her and he had to remind her. Since she's in her 90s I keep reminding DH that it may be his last Christmas with her. Of course there was drama with his DB not showing up for dinner after he told his DF he was bringing something special to eat. Turns out he went to his girlfriend's house to eat. The family had delayed dinner waiting on him. The grandkids were hungry and cranky for having delayed dinner. DH was upset to say the least as this is not the first time his DB had pulled something like that. DH's parents of course made excuses as the brother seems to be their favorite (there is just the 2 boys). Anyway to make a long story short DH said they ate and then opened the presents. Then DH came home and was still upset about DB.
The weather here has been gorgeous in the 70's and sunny. Today and tomorrow will be in the 70s also then turn cooler. Ride if you can and have a good day today.

Hi all,
I am so looking forward to seeing Lukas today! The bridle is a standard hunter bridle but has a wide noseband which is very much the style right now. It is also a better quality leather then the one I have now. I just use a D-ring snaffle bit with Lukas, nothing fancy. My bit is pretty old (showing wear, hard to shine) and I got it used because it came with my first horse. I am going to order a nice quality stainless one and then I should be set for quite a while. Years I hope. The bridle is Arc De Triomphe, the style is Tribute. I see on the tag it says to check out their website for recommended care so that's what I will do.
Faye- thanks for starting the board.
Dutch- the photo is so cute! Your son is very handsome!
My Christmas decorations will stay up until the Feast of the Epiphany,(3 wise men arrive) how about you? Any traditions on when you put things away?
Faye and Barb is there a special tradition for each night?

Hi, all! Happy Post Xmas (and continuing Hanukkah!)! Faye, sounds like you "make it work" with DD so that's lovely. Glad the practice went well yesterday. I took yesterday off so will be back at it again today! Beth, sorry about the knee (but bet you're NOT sorry about missing yesterday). I guess at this time in our lives we need to let the annoying family things go, but oh so hard to do Hope you can get into the dr soon. Barb, we have a theater with reclining seats as well...you can even get alcohol and cooked food! Glad you enjoyed LaLa Land. I think I will go see Rogue 1 sometime this week, can walk to the theater. Amy, so glad you got a new bridle but they are work to soften. I think I used Neetsfoot and saddle soap. I still have the bridle I owned for my horse, just hangs up in the bedroom as a reminder of good times Dutch, such a cute photo...is the wheelbarrow his or is he just using it to haul his toys I didn't stay long at mom and dad's. Did breakfast (overate but that's what you do), did presents, etc. They were going to watch a movie and that doesn't interest me much so I went home around noon. The cat wasn't feeling well when I left so was a bit worried; she was fine when I got home and is fine today. Going hiking with the women's Meet Up group this afternoon. Tomorrow is all mine to do with what I want Cathy

I "remember" cleaning/conditioning leather bridles! My last bit bridle was a Wintec -no cleaning and now i use a DR Cook's bitless beta -which is also synthetic. I actually have a brand new Wintec that had been sent to me when the noseband cracked 2x (!) So the wintec rep sent me a new one -I've actually put it up for sale on the FB sale site -maybe someone will spend their holiday money! LOL

Hi all, Just got back from the barn and the bridle didn't fit. I am so glad I decided to check the fit before diving into conditioning it. The noseband is a tiny bit too big and he is up to almost the top hole on the side pieces so I am going to exchange it for the next size down. Brought my current bridle home to clean and condition it in the meantime. Saddle can always use another round of cleaning too. I am at the time of year when I bring my tack home after each ride. My lockers are not in a heated room so I bring my leather tack home when the temperatures get extreme. I have a tack area in my laundry room with a saddle rack on the wall. Doesn't everyone? LOL.
Beth- what have the doctors said about your knee?
Barb- I know some people with Wintec tack who love it. Because of the discipline I am showing in I kind of stick with what is "in" (unless I really don't like it). Helps me to fit in and keeps the trainer smiling. I think the tack I have now should last me for the rest of my riding life.
Faye- that is fun that DD opens the gift while she is on the phone with you! So you have to get 8 gifts, are they opened in a particular order?
Cathy- hiking sounds so great. I should probably look into weather there is a hiking group around me, I never really thought of looking for one. How did you find your group?
Hi to Dutch and Libby

Good morning Tuesday.
Not much new here. I'm going to call today and try to get an appt with the orthopedic dr whenever he has an opening to see what plans of treatments are available for my knee. Resting it this weekend helped to take the acute pain away but if I move it certain ways it's still painful.
Amy-sorry the bridle didn't fit. Will you be able to get the same type and brand in a different size?
Faye-does DD give you any presents or is it just the parents give the presents?
Barb-La La Land sounds like you liked it okay but wasn't the greatest or did I misinterpret what you wrote?

Good Morning - Beth- hope they can figure out something other than surgery for your knee- I would say about the movie -yes - I liked it -not the best -but would say go see it!
Amy -I get it about "fitting in"! When i was showing I did the same - I actually have several bits -used depending on the trainer I was with-for a while (not sure if they still do) H/J were big with pelham/2 reins ; then when I worked w/ my dressage trainer she pushed the "fulmer" bit. So i have quite the collection -none of which I now use!
DS leaves this morning -we had another fun evening last night with our "nashua family" good friends -her grown up kids, my DS/DDIL, her grands, her DB/DSIL; parents of her DD's new boyfriend! 18 in total -fun night. Now I can relax until New Year's Eve.
Off to pull Penny's blanket for a while -since it is 50 out already -guess I'll let her roll in the mud we may try to ride later.

Hi everyone, I gave dh my cold! he rarely gets colds, this is probably the 3rd one he has had in the 22 years of marriage! Today is the first day I'm feeling better, one week into it. We are suppose to leave to Arizona on Thursday to spend new years with our dear friends in Yuma. It doesn't look like that's going to happen unless dh gets better quickly! No way I'm driving the truck with the camper in tow! I'm bad enough with the horse trailer lol Electrical got done in the kitchen yesterday, insulation and sheet rock going in today and tomorrow. Then just waiting for the cabinets, which will be the end of January. The slow feeder really slowed Lucy down, I think yesterday she just gave up on it! there was quite a bit of hay left in it which is unusual for her. Amy; glad you fitted the bridle before you got to busy with it. Rosie has a small cob size head, the browbands on the cob is always to small, so she is custom! Lucy has a huge head! Faye; sorry your dd got sick! nice you can do things over the phone Beth; that knee has been causing you some trouble, hope the dr can help you out, some family members are just rude! Cathy; nice that you had breakfast with your family, glad kitty is ok Barb; muddy horses, ugh! from now until June lol Dutch; wave to you HAGD everyone!

BETH-that's not too long a wait considering the holiday. hope it feels better and fingers crossed you don't need surgery. LIBBY-sorry DH has a cold and you may not go to AZ. BARB-hope DS has good trip home. sounds like you had a nice visit. Warm here too so hope you and Penny get out. Did Tundra and Penny get Hanukah gifts? we used to send to California for edible toys for our bunny it was a ball made of twigs stuffed with hay, and bunny shaped toasts for him. he liked them. he was cute. CATHY-hope the cat is ok. happy rehearsing. have fun with it. do you have to wear a certain color? we all wear "concert black" for ensemble. Beginning of Jan there's an AHS chapter meeting with the harpist from Wicked. Can't wait to here what she has to say about playing on Broadway ! She also is on the cast album of Hamilton. DUTCH-hope DS is all better and no more ear infection. AMY-nice of you to let someone ride Lukas. probably good to see another rider on him to see his gait etc. I used to like to go early and watch others ride the horses I rode. Seems like a thousand years ago and yesterday all at the same time. For those that remember, Dorito is now retired but at a therapy riding barn so I guess similar to what Barb does as a volunteer. Had a good workout session this AM and yoga later (he had to switch to Tuesdays for a while.) HAGD

Hi, all! Faye, we haven't been told what to wear yet but I'm assuming it will be black. I have some black slacks so should be OK. I thought we were supposed to play a 4th song but have yet to receive the sheet music Can't wait to hear back on hearing from the Broadway harpist! Beth, wow...they did get you in fast considering the holidays. Can you wear a brace to keep you from tricky moves? Barb, yeah, I agree with you and Amy...I had quite the selection of bits (the Pelham for jumping, eggbuts, twisted snaffles). I guess it all depended on who you trained with. Libby, glad you're feeling better but bummer about DH. Um, so you missed Hawaii AND maybe Arizona??!? That's really a bummer. Force-feed him vitamin C and zinc Amy, oddly enough, I was out hiking by myself and this woman was standing at a trail head, like she was waiting for someone. She asked me if I needed some help with the trail, and I was like, I'm OK. She mentioned her Meetup women's hiking group, so snooped on Meetup and found them there. I can't go very often because most of them are retired so they go during the week, yeah, and I'm working. You should try it...there are some really good groups on Meetup, and it's by locale. The hike was nice, longer than thought, with lots of women I didn't know, and it was cold (OK, for CA). I just got REALLY tired, and hungry. Stuffed my face with crackers and cheese when I got home then barely had energy for showering and making dinner. I think it was the cold...it affected my asthma a bit. BUT my foot did fine, did not get sore, until I got in the car and started driving So pretty tired today, was going to swim, but will do some research today on the car I'm thinking of trading in for, maybe some painting and some harping. Got the car washed this morning, got the shoe inserts, and cat food. Faye, what car did you get specifically for your harp? Cathy

Hi all! DS is better, never complained of the ear infection, but says his throat doesn't hurt any more. So that's good. Now I'm sick! (of course!) and I have surgery tomorrow. This too shall pass! That wheel barrow is all his! Nice santa! Now he can also move stuff when mom & dad work in the yard But for now it's inside and great at moving toys from one room to the next! He is spoiled materially ... can't help it. But he does his 3yr old chores as well! Squiggle - glad you have a dr appt! It can be fixed, but what a hassell! Sounds like most had a nice holiday!

Libby- hope you can cure DH soon enough to travel - Yuma sounds nice -never been. Kitchen is just moving right along! Glad the slow feeder is doing the trick -which one did you buy? net or hard type?
Faye- tundra got (another) squeakie toy in the shape of a menorah -now she carries it around with her others when she "paces" in the morning. Penny ( and Skip) got matching hunter orange saddle pads! We did get out for a bit today -farther than the other day -but still a lot of ice on the trail. That is nice for Dorito -is it close that you might go visit? (or want to?)
Beth- hang in there with your knee -1/3 isn't that far off! did you get the caps out?
Dutch -good luck w/ surgery (I must have missed -what are you having?)
Cathy -car shopping - I love it - are you looking for a "car" or SUV? What's the latest painting?
Have a good evening -till tomorrow!

Good morning Wednesday
BARB-sounds like a cute toy for Tundra and lovely gifts for Skip and Penny. I think Dorito is far and I visited after the fall once then she and her horses moved further away--and never wanted to go. I'm glad I did the one show and glad I rode on the beach but that's it for me for riding. I'll stick to the harp. BETH-hope your knee feels better until you get to see the orthopedist DUTCH-good luck with surgery and hope your cold is better or gone. LIBBY-hope DH feels better and you can get to go on vacation. AMY-were you getting a new laptop?? CATHY-how are the inserts doing? hope your foot is better. Happy harping.
waving to all. Harp lesson then some errands

hello horse lovers, Dh is pretty sick! I'm finally feeling better, I still don't sound all that great. Called friends in Yuma, they are sick also! We will plan on leaving Saturday now Looks like we are in for a cold streak for us, next week hovering in the teens. Worried about horses and frozen water while I'm gone. Went to the feed store and got stocked up on grain, shavings, mare magic and wormer for the horses. Cathy; they cold is hard on a hike! wears you out. hope your foot is ok. There is a new cat hanging around here the last few weeks, looks like a young female, all grey, long haired. I can't get close to it. My cat is male, so he isn't fighting with it. I'm feeding two cats again! I might look for that site you mentioned when I get back from AZ. I used to hike often before I got married, my dad was a hiker and mountain climber, so hiking was always part of my life. Having a ds in a wheelchair and now having my dh using a cane and a walker, not much hiking going on lol. Heidi drove to eastern Oregon yesterday to pick up a horse trailer, a two horse stock trailer, it looks in great shape 2010, not sure of the brand. I'm concerned that she planned a 3 day vacation when she knew I was going to be gone. Our agreement for her to bring the second horse here is that she takes care of the horses while I'm gone, the first two weeks of Dec (I didn't go), Jan, Feb and March. She is going to ask someone at the barn she teaches at to feed while she's gone. I don't know who it is. It's going to be during the time it's really cold here. One good thing is that I can see the horses from my iPhone on the security camera's Faye; nice to hear about Dorito! Sorry to be insensitive - was he the horse you got hurt on? For some reason I thought it was a different horse. It's so nice to see the kitchen walls coming together (instead of studs lol) Dutch; glad ds is better! Beth; hope your knee isn't giving you too much pain Amy; Its nice to watch someone else ride your horse. You can learn so much from it! Barb; I got a small, I think 1' netted bag. She has been leaving hay in it, so not sure how successful it has been. I fluffed all the hay last night, I'll check this morning and see how she does. Wave to all! I got called in to work today to meet with the director that is covering a parent training program I used to run that starts in January. The manager who has been doing it since I left - left for another project and so the director wants to pick my brain. It sounds like the assistant is being laid-off due to budget cuts and isn't being very forthcoming with information on how the program runs. They did hire a new manager, who knows nothing about the program and starts the middle of January. When I get back from AZ, they want me to mentor her-so, more money-no time lol

Good morning.
Yesterday after going to the store for a few items I mostly was a couch potato with my leg propped up and a heating pad on it most of the day. All this sitting around is doing nothing for wt loss LOL. It does feel better today though.
I have another order from another vendor for caps, cozies, umbrellas, towels and insulated lunch bags and needs them by Jan. 5th. She sent me most of her caps, towels and umbrellas. I have the insulated lunch bags that didn't get sold at the last show and lots of cozie blanks. The vendor is doing a specialty Spaniel dog show and needs patterns for the Clumber Spaniel, Sussex Spaniel, Welch Springer Spaniel, Boykin Spaniel, English Cocker Spaniel and American Cocker Spaniel. I already had the patterns for three of them and had to buy the other three which she will pay for when I bill her.
Libby-sorry DH is so sick. Do you think he will be well enough to go to Yuma by Saturday? I also would be concerned about the other girl who is supposed to take care of your horses while you are gone. It's good you can see them on your phone through the security camera.
Cathy-I don't like hiking/walking when it's so cold either. Not doing much walking right now though. Have you any idea what car you might be looking for?
Amy-no decorations in the house now. Did you get a new computer/laptop?
Dutch-hope the surgery goes well. Is it an outpatient? That is so cute about the wheelbarrow and that DS has 3yr old 'chores'.
Faye-I know you are through with shows for 2016. When do you play the first show for 2017?
Barb-that new squeaky toy sounds so cute. Post a picture of Tundra with it so we can see it.

Hi, all! Faye, OK a hatchback. That's what I have but I usually put the harp in at a 45 degree angle since there isn't enough "head room" for it to be upright. I also have to fold down the back seats as well as the passenger seat. Looking for something bigger and longer Mini has the Countryman, so I'll look at that first since I have a Mini. If that doesn't go well, there are VW, Honda and Toyota dealerships near me. Beth, can you work with your bad knee? I know you're mostly sitting but can you be at your machine with your leg up (used to do this at work ? Barb, I really like the plate you posted this morning on FB...really pretty and kind of nice for the winter season. Glad you got in a bit of a ride...orange saddle pads...love it! Keeps the hunters on their toes? Libby, so sorry about DH! I really hope you can go on Saturday, but yeah it sounds like the barn antics are frustrating. Hopefully you can meet this person before a final decision is made about the barn care. I wouldn't let anyone take care of the cat without meeting them first (which doesn't preclude some folks from having a sub come in, much to my utter surprise and anger!!). Dutch, I hope you get through your surgery OK, and just sorry you have to have surgery! The wheelbarrow is a wonderful idea for a child with lots of stuff Amy, glad you were able to trade for a better fitting bridle! I started testing things for my brother's painting. He's in the foreground getting ready to hit a golf ball and behind him is a tree line with the fairway stretching before him. I'm practicing trees (yes, more trees, you'd think I'd know how to do these by now) and the fairway. I'm not worried about painting him at all, just the background. I was supposed to go look at a car today, but the dealer emailed and said that the car wasn't ready (roof scratched in transit and they're fixing it) so will hopefully go tomorrow. He said he'd make "aggressive pricing" on the car to get me in to see it, since it's quite a drive. We'll see. Also, got the thyroid results. So, I'm at 4.4 and the range is .4 to 4.8. I'm high, but not above the top of the range. My doc might be OOO so I'll wait to see what she says. I'd like to try a low dose to see if there's any improvement in sleeping, hair structure, etc. Swimming today!!! Cathy

CATHY-happy painting. i lay the harps down flat on a mattress. good luck car shopping. might even want to bring the harp before purchasing. and try looking up harpmobile. i think it will take you to harp Column and some photos. Good luck with the painting too BETH-congrats on the big job. I was also curious if working is ok on your knee. I have no shows scheduled for 2017. Usually end of Jan I make calls about St. Patricks or I get calls for that or Valentines' day. is it hard to do umbrellas? hope you feel better.
LIBBY-so sorry about DH . hope you both feel better and can go away. I'd also be concerned about who is taking care of the horses. Yes, DOrito is the one that got scared and I was airborn.
good harp lesson. heading out for some errands. HAGD

HI all - Libby - hope the trip all works out - and the horses are all taken care of (to your satisfaction!) but guess they will do fine - have fun - travel safe - how long a drive is it?
Cathy - gotta love car salesmen! let us know how that goes! happy swimming!
Will try to post photo of Tundra & her new toy soon.
We did get out today again -the 3 of us at the barn - again just a short -30 min- walk although the 2 geldings were a bit bouncy -Penny just sat back & watched! My sad news today is that my horse vet who I have used for over 20 years will no longer be doing horses after March 1! the entire practice is stopping them -now have to find a new vet -
DH is installing Amazon TV -one more remote for me to not know how to use! LOL
Faye- have fun at your lesson. Judy went home the other day and is starting her PT, using her walker etc.
They are predicting 6+" of snow for us tomorrow into Friday - just when our paddock has all melted (to mud) but no ice!
Waving to the rest of the gang -HAGD -CBL

Several of you have asked about my working on an order with my knee like it is. Here's how... when it is really painful I don't work I just mostly sit around with it propped and a heating pad. Oh yeah, some ibuprofen too. Days like today when it doesn't hurt so much I'm able to work with the machine. Mostly I'm sitting in a chair and just get up to change items to embroider. The machine does the actual work lol.
