Hi horse lovers, Barb; I saw that page was riding I think she got a fear block and is working thru it. I loved fried clams! yum, hope you had fun Beth; is power back on? love the pic of the beans and peas! Cathy, glad you got to hike, 90 is too hot for me! when we left for vacation I couldn't find the cat. Looked under every bed and all his usual inside hiding places, called him, shook his treats, figured he was outside catting around! After no one saw him, I had the neighbor go in the house and look, sure enough, he was in my bedroom for 30 hours w/o food, water or litter box! Poor guy, he seems fine Faye; The ponies did well while I was gone. They didn't get turned out, glad they have paddocks! My neighbors aren't horse people! Heidi was supposed to feed them thurs and fri and texted me on Wednesday and said she wasn't coming home till Friday, so the neighbors got to do it again! Live and learn, I won't ask Heidi to feed while I'm gone again unless it's an emergency! Dutch; Allie is a beautiful horse!! love the pic! Everytime I try to put a picture on this it won't work, says it's too big or something! Amy; nice your rode bareback, I grew up riding bareback! We had 4 horses 2 ponies and 1 saddle! I use a bareback pad w/o stirrups as Rosie has really high, painful withers lol and with Lucy, it just keeps me cleaner. Vacation was wonderful! Beautiful setting in the mountains, private campsite with really big evergreens and a beautiful view of the mountain. Hiked around the lake with a girlfriend who was staying close by, ate at Timberline Lodge, enjoyed every minute~ now back to reality Kitchen countertops finally will be installed tomorrow~!!!! and hopefully the flooring by the end of the week. I won't have a kitchen sink for a few days..... oh well, I'm going to go buy some water tomorrow in those big gallon containers. Rode Rosie around yesterday, gave her a bath and took picture for the best ever saddle pad I'm thinking of buying. Wave to all! HAGR

Hi, all! Faye, what is "Beautiful"? A movie or a play or...? Glad you had a nice time and enjoyed it...was that in the City? Libby, glad you had such a wonderful time! Oh my about the cat, they can go without for a bit (pet sitter forgot to come and feed dinner one time at old house, all food had been eaten and she seemed unusually hungry ). Glad all are OK and yeah, don't trust Heidi. What an awful thing to do, at the last minute (sorry, it just really bugs me). Dutch, Ally is so beautiful...her coat is just lovely (don't you love summer coats?)! Barb, saw your FB post...no clams??!?!? How could that be? Did you go somewhere else to find some? Hi to Beth and Amy! I picked up a lb...I think it was that soft pretzel! It's my busy Monday (lots of spreadsheets) but it has cooled and I have a harp lesson this afternoon. Cathy

LIBBY-when i was a teen i cat sat for a friend. one day cat is gone. panic! looked every and finally under the bed saw the bedspring looked funny. she found a hole in the covering of the mattress boxspring and got stuck in there. got her out ok and all was fine. Glad ponies are ok but yeah, not great about Heidi. congrats on the countertop and so glad you had a nice time. CATHY-enjoy the lesson. Beautiful is a broadway play about Carole King so lots of songs and really fun. bought the soundtrack. we had very good seats and had brunch first. our anniversary is tomorrow (36) so that was our celebration. easier on the weekend. somerset is a week from Friday. I have a note to try out Cygnets especially cherry. the lb. is probably water from the salt in the pretzel hope everyone is having a good day. tracking. did ok over the weekend even without tracking but being careful.

Hi all, Tracking -no , doing it today. Libby - So glad you enjoyed camping so much. If I remember correctly Heidi is not very reliable when it comes to commitments, but to contact you during your vacation and back out of caring for the horses is really over the top. I mean I think if something came up everyone on this board would say "sorry I can't go I promised a friend I would look after her horses". Faye- I love Carole King's music, I bet it was a great show. My older sister used to play Carole Kings songs on the piano when I was growing up. Dutch-I have to go back to the prior thread and check out the photo of Ally. I am sure she looks great. I too can't load photos here but I might try again on my phone. Cathy- hope the harp lesson was fun. Was it in person? I think I read on a prior post that you are back to doing some painting, that is great! Hope you get some swim time in. Barb- Have you ever though of having an ETSY shop for your glass. I have no idea what is involved but I just bought a T-shirt off an ETSY shop and it made me think of all my talented friends. Beth- Hope DH recovery is moving along well. Have you been walking? How is Peekaboo? Our new furniture arrived yesterday but we have not gotten the old furniture out yet so it is exciting but we are not quite "put together" yet. DH had a good idea for reusing a corner cabinet in our finished basement and that looks great. We put the loveseat up in his home office (daughters old bedroom). We still have a sofa and another cabinet that need new homes. The carpet installer came and measured the steps yesterday so once the order goes in today it will take about 2 weeks to get it delivered and installed. I still haven't started staining but will get that done this week. I did nothing but wait a day and now the board works for me and I can scroll. It's a mystery to me. I am off to the barn HAGD Amy

BETH-how is DH doing? how long will he have PT? how are you doing? LIBBY-good luck with the counter. is it then just sink and flooring? CATHY-how was the lesson? how's the picture for your brother going? BARB-what's new? any more plans to ride with friends?

so- I forgot that we started a new week yesterday - and this is what I posted this morning on last week's board
HI all - guess we all missed yestereday! Dutch - great photo - she's looking good (how long did she stay clean?)
Yesterday DH & drove up to Kennebunkport -about 1.5 hr drive -lovely little town to walk around in & shop (we bought nothing!) but look! Also our favorite place to eat -The Clam Shack -world famous for fried clams -we only eat the strips & after standing in line for 15+ minutes -we get to order and find out they are OUT OF STRIPS! Oh No! I don't like the whole clams -and if we wanted lobster we would have gone elsewhere -so we wound up eating at another lovely restaurant on the water - I had crab cakes -but so bummed!
raining here today -tooth dentist coming around 11 - Penny will most likely need to be tranquilized!
Faye -I loved Beautiful -the music was fantastic! Glad you enjoyed it.
Cathy - congrats on passing -
Amy any lessons soon -are you going to start looking for a new barn/trainer -or is the sale something that isn't going to happen fast?
Beth- hope you are not getting all the nasty weather they keep showing on TV here -it looks like the whole south is getting slammed!
Libby - back into routine? Were the ponies glad to see you?
Later - Teeth done - she had to be tranq'd -but each year she gets better - my dentist is really wonderful -that is a hard job! So now I am all caught up w/ everyone! hahaha -TTFN

Good evening. DH was released today. His knee is still a little sore but he's able to drive again. Yea! The garden is doing well. I made 4 quarts of sweet pickles yesterday. Tomorrow I'm starting the cap order and should have it done by the weekend. Our weather has been hot and humid but no rain the last few days.

Good Morning,
Tracking yes, but went 8 points over yesterday. trying again today.
Started the staining project yesterday. It will be a several day process because a second coat of stain is needed then the filler putty that is dyed to match needs to go in the holes then the polyurethane on top.
I did wash Lukas's tail yesterday to save some time today. He is a "roller" so I saved the bath for today. Looking forward to the schooling show but it might rain a little bit.
Beth- So glad DH had such a good outcome from his surgery. I love sweet pickles! Hope all goes smoothly with the cap order.
Barb- No need to look for a new barn or trainer at this point. I don't even think the place is listed yet. They had the appraiser come out but now seem to be dragging their feet. Trainer does have her eye on some land that is near the current place. It seems she would like to build a new place rather then buy an existing place so she can have her "dream" set up. She says she wants to take her boarders with her. None of these plans are going forward right now I think she is just considering options.
Hi to everyone!

Good Morning! Amy - that's good about the barn -HaHa about Lukas being a roller -as is Penny -I rarely bathe her for that reason -more sponge baths (!) after a ride!
Beth- pickles sound yummy! Years ago we did bread & butter pickles -I think they are the same as sweet?
Beth- nice that DH can now drive -guess he's happy too!
Off to ride before it gets any hotter -very muggy now -tonite DH & I have a "wine & cheese" paring class at a local winery -should be fun.
Waving to Faye-Libby-Cathy & Dutch - HAGD - ride if you can -CBL

Good morning. It's very hot and humid here. This morning it was 73 but felt like 84 according to the weather station. I was drippy sweaty after walking. then when I was picking the garden I got even more drippy sweaty. I don't think I had a dry stitch on me.
Yes the sweet pickles can be called bread and butter pickles. The recipe is super easy as it is made in the microwave. Here is the recipe:
Sweet/Bread and Butter Pickles
2 C thinly sliced cucumbers 1 medium thinly sliced onion 1 C sugar 1/2 C white vinegar 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp mustard seed 1/2 tsp turmeric 1/4 tsp celery seed
Mix all ingredients together and microwave on high for 8 minutes. It may seem like not enough liquid is there but after microwaving the liquid increases. Place the pickles into a quart glass jar and let cool. Place into refrigerator. Enjoy when cold.

BARB-enjoy the wine and cheese class. AMY-good luck with the staining. Trying to track today but we'll see. Tomorrow is my mammogram and my anxiety is at top notch level BETH-so glad DH did well and can drive. I'm not a pickle person but nice to be able to use your own veggies to do it. Good luck with the cap order as well CATHY-how's the picture for your brother going?
yesterday I posted on FB that a delivery person saw the harp and asked if it was real and asked if I'd play something, so i played a bit of Danny boy and a little Over the Rainbow and he said he loved his job because he met interesting people. it was a nice way to start the day. I have my show Monday; so back to practicing

Hi, all! Faye, thanks for the feedback on Beautiful...I like some of her songs as well. Happy belated anniversary Lesson was good, still working on hand/arm connection. Oooh...water weight gain from the salty pretzel...did not think of that! Wonderful! Beth, the pickles sound fun! Nice to find something to use all those cukes for. Great that DH is mobile and ready to drive! Barb, hope you get in a ride today! We finally cooled off after last weekend. My horse had to be tranqd for floating as well...hard job, agree. Amy, good luck today at the show! Fun about the new furniture (didn't Barb order some as well?)...and you found some carpet for the stairs! Really moving forward! Dutch, definitely a fun bunch to read about, huh? Quite diverse except for that "horse lover" part Hi to Libby....must still be recuperating from her holiday Yesterday was crazy work. Lots of spreadsheets and bugging people about things and following up on things. There are days when I feel like a glorified assistant...and yesterday was one of those days. Did get in a swim though...very nice, hardly anyone there so pretty much a lane to myself. I am continuing to work on my brother's painting...kind of slow but better than nothing I guess Cathy

WOW- so muggy & buggy on the trail -we did our short 3.3 mile loop in about 42 minutes (thanks to my trail tracker I know the time & distance) usually I might do it in 50 minutes -but the bugs were very aggressive!
Beth - going to try your pickle recipe -TTFN

Hi horse lovers! Beth: I make pickles every year! Your recipe sounds fun. I do dills and sweets, last year I added a sliced jalapeño to the sweets and wow did they turn out wonderful, not too hot So glad to hear that dh is home and recuperating well! It sounds really muggy out there! Wow this site is about to have an anniversary! Faye; I love Carol King songs! I used to play, "you've got a friend" on my guitar all the time! Speaking of guitar, I brought it with me on vacation and am basically learning it all over again. I played/had classes in jr. and Sr. high school and have let it slip thru the busy years - now living my dream of taking it back up in retirement ;)Can I be irritating for a minute and ask you for the name of that Pilates DVD again? Barb; what no clams!! bummer! glad you had fun anyways! My horses are usually drugged for teeth, last year I used one of Heidi's vets, he didn't drug them and they did fine (a lot cheaper). Sorry the bugs where so bad! Dutch; yes, we are a busy group lol, you fit right in! Cathy: I'm glad you got to swim amongst your busy work day! My brother is doing well after his full shoulder replacement, he is in less pain than before the surgery-he was bone to bone! ouch! I had fun Tuesday evening with my dgd 12 yo, she rode Lucy in the barrel race series, I was a nervous grandma-as she has only cantered a few times and it was in a round pen. My old friend up there took pity on us and lent us one of her barrel saddles and barrel reins, which made a big difference! She is so sweet, she coached my dgd and said she could borrow the saddle for the rest of the season! She trotted and cantered the course, her fear about stopping the horse at the end we worked on yesterday in the arena, I rode Lucy and stopped her at the same spot and backed up a couple of times, then Magically Lucy stopped really well for her when she did the same thing, the smile on my dgd face was priceless! She is starting to get better control of the horse Today I've got to go spray round up around the driveways and were we park the trailers-always hate using it, yet love the results! Sometimes this little acre and 1/2 feels like 10! And......got the countertops in! The new sink and faucet works awesome! I get to use my new dishwasher for the first time today! I've been doing dishes by hand since December!! HAGD everyone!

Amy: glad you don't have to move your horse! My df has been looking to move her horse. I went Sunday to look at Heidi's place with her and then went and looked at her set up- it's literally down the street less than a mile from her home and her horse has a big paddock and grassy individual turn out area, I told her if she can put up with the owner, I'd stay there! I guess the owner tends to be mean to her, she is a very sensitive person-her dh told the barn owner that she can't talk to his wife that way, so hopefully it will get better! Glad your project is getting on it's way! hope you did well at the show!!

LIBBY-so nice of your friend to let DGD have the saddle. glad it worked out so well. Great about the countertops and faucet, etc. Also glad DB is doing ok. is he still in PT? Mari Winsor www.amazon.com/Winsor-Pilates-Workout-Accelerated-Sculpting/dp/B00077BD7A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499963040&sr=8-1&keywords=winsor+basicenjoy! CATHY-glad you swam. does it get less busy in August? our town seems to empty out, i think everyone goes on vacation. Good to work on hand position; technique is the basis for freedom in playing. and makes tone nicer too. how are your strings in this humidity? some strings just are not happy! i went from 32 percent humidity to 54 % in one day. BARB-stunning glass in black and white. new design? hope we don't get the storms they are saying. BETH-how's the weather? we're supposed to get storms tonight and tomorrow is on a "watch" alert. Can't believe we've been on this board a year. it's nice. so glad you found it. AMY-glad you don't have to move. will you be looking for another trainer for the winter? How was the schooling show?? DUTCH-waving. hope all is well. mammo was fine. thank goodness. My anxiety level was on overdrive. going out to dinner to celebrate that and our anniversary. HAGD

HI all- Libby- that is so cool about DGD riding barrels -that is a whole other thing I can't even imagine! Too bad about the owner of the barn where your friend is -that can make your horse time very stressful! (That is why I moved Aaron all those years ago!)
Faye- thanks for the kind words about the new pieces -I just love the simplicity of the white w/black -as I said I am making a few more pieces in the group (until I run out of the decals!) Glad mammo was good -mine is next month after our cruise. Happy Anniversary -(how many? when?)
Amy - how was the show?
Cathy -doing any watercolors? have you ever tried alcohol inks? I use some on my glass & there is a whole board on FB with some fabulous work on paper -check it out!
Waving to Beth & Dutch -hope you are both staying dry!
First session of Upreach this morning - I have a little boy who turned 7 today -I had him last summer - & he came right up and said "I remember you!" It will be a fun 7 weeks!

Hi, all! Faye, congrats on the good mammo! Barb, I also like the black and white plates you did...just wonderful! I will look into alcohol inks...I know we tried a bunch of things when my teacher was still here. Can't remember all of it Awe...the little boy from Upreach makes it all worthwhile, huh? Slowly working on the painting of my brother. Libby, wow...how awesome of a grandmother are you! Glad dgd had fun with the barrels, and yeah, nice of friend to loan the saddle. Don't feel bad...I used to use Roundup sometimes (bricks, sidewalks)...it was just too annoying otherwise. Amy, yes how was the show? Beth, wow...a whole year...already??! Seems so fast, thanks for the info! Hi to Dutch! Busy couple of days at work. I swear, I tell Bangalore something that I KNOW is right, and they tell me they want to do it different. It's billing and resourcing, there is no "other way", only the "right way" but they STILL want to do things differently. I give up...let my boss fight it out with them. I'm so frustrated! Will try to swim today. Oddly enough, after the first spurt of summer swimmers, it has quieted down. Nice. Cathy
