Good morning- from last night:
LIBBY-so glad you feel better. 104! wow hope you got the AC
AMY-congrats on the stairs and can't wait to see the photo when the runner is installed Tues. do you use brass rods to or is it tacked down? sounds like a nice walk
good luck with the washer. did you get one?
CATHY-wegman's is big I mean big. you can eat there buy cooked food, food that's prepared and you cook it and then like a whole foods. prices supposed to be good but not sure. too big for me and didn't have some things I use even with being so big. Will have to go a weekday in the morning. it was PACKED on the weekend. Even the parking lot was scary
tea was expensive and tasty but a bit odd. in the Baccarat hotel so pretty but almost a bit stuffy. more like Hors d'œuvres than tea sandwiches. scones were good, and had devonshire cream and a mango puree that was delish. pastires were nice too. wouldn't go back but glad to go. BUT on the way back stopped at the Decorative arts museum and saw the Judith Leiber purse exhibit. she had an interesting life. and the purses were amazing. Funny, i remembered seeing some in a store once and that line was from 1990! It was the asparagus purse. I remembered the tomato too
waving to all. HAGE

Hi Tracking yes
The weather is supposed to be pretty again today so I am going out to ride this morning.
My laundry machine is on it's last legs but we have a new one arriving in a little less then 2 weeks so hopefully it will hold on until then.
I told my husband I would let him see the carpet in person tomorrow evening before I post it on FB.
Faye- DH suggested the brass rods on the steps but I didn't want them. I told him they just looked like they would be hard to clean, kind of a dirt trap. It seems I make a lot of decisions about décor based on how easy it is to clean since I am the one that does most of it. HA! Not every new tea place will be a favorite but now you know. The purse exhibit sounds fun and interesting.
Hi to all, HAGD, ride if you can.

Good morning- Faye- Wegmans - what a place -there is one about 25 mins from us & we sometimes go just to go! Prices are average -some better -some worse -but fruits/veggies-well worth it. Yes all the food bars are overwhelming -and the breads to die for (In NH we don't have really good bakeries like in NY!)
Amy -new washer - are you getting top or front load? Some of them are so complicated you need a class on how to use! I go for pretty basic. good luck with it. Any trail rides over the weekend?
Libby -hope your weather cools off -
I pulled a muscle in my groin area -walking is very painful -so much that I don't think i will ride today trying to let it heal as we leave Friday (and since I rode 3 days in a row one day off will be ok ) but I plan on riding rest of week. Busy week getting ready -have to take Tundra for nail clipping (I can't do it) I have mani/pedi on Wed -meeting a friend for lunch who moved away 2 years ago - haven't seen her since -and yes, pack!
Waving to Beth, Cathy, Dutch & Julie - HAGD -ride if you can - CBL

Yes, we got the portable air conditioner-it's really ugly! With are old one and this one, should do the trick. We are breaking a 40+ year record for days with no rainfall, and we rarely get over 100 degrees. We will be in the 90's all week, Wed and Thurs over 100 degrees. Barb; hope your pain subsides Faye; Tea place sounded fun, yet not your favorite. When is the harp being repaired? Beth; Nice that your bringing the dog to groomers. Now that I have hot water outside, I tried giving the dogs baths myself yesterday for the first time. Cookie did good, Dakota hates water and wasn't very compliant! Brushed them both out with furminator then clipped their nails, Dakota loves getting her nails clipped, Cookie hates it lol, brushed their teeth and cleaned their ears. They had their spa day! Cathy; r u getting the hot weather? Dutch; I'll bet your in the heat wave! Julie: did you ride this weekend? Had to clean stalls/paddock/arena yesterday, since I didn't feel well I hadn't done it for 3 days-what a mess that was! Fortunately it was an overcast morning, so I did it when it was still cool. Working out with the pilates dvd this morning, taking ds to drs. and I might finally do the painting in the broom closet that I attempted last week and didn't get very far! Also need to write up my "work" visit from Friday. I like working 2 hrs a month lol

Hi, all! Faye, I've heard of Judith Leiber, but can't remember what her purses look like, I'll look that up! Glad you had fun! Amy, can't wait to see pix of the finished stairs. I had a new washer/dryer in my house, and got new ones for this TH. This washer is harder to keep clean for some reason (front loader, less water). No problem with taking cleaning into account when deciding on decorating! I wish I had less...crap. Barb, oh no, sorry about the groin pull. Hope that resolves quickly! Have a nice spa day! Libby, yeesh...104 in WA state? Unheard of! It looks like we're supposed to be in low 80's so not hot like you. Broom closets are fast...they don't have to be pretty I do the cats nails as well, she doesn't like it but tolerates it. Hi to Beth, Dutch and Julie! Just found out this morning that our company has been sold...again. That's 5 different names in 10 years...and I'm not keen on who we were sold to. I guess time will tell whether this is the last company I work for or not. BUT I did manage not to regain that pesky pound over the weekend, so I'm happy. Went for a hike yesterday and really paid attention to what I was eating, versus the whole mindless thing. Hope I can keep at it! Today is harp lesson. Cathy

ya to projects wrapping up! Who sent the heat up to the PNW?!?! lol we don't "do" heat! Right now the weather app says: Wed 106, Thurs 108, Fri 101. Yesterday is said Thursday to be 111... scorchure! eeek! I'm laying low. Not making major changes. Went to watch horse show at the neighbors- Paint/POA/Quarter thing. It was fun. My bestie diagnosed with terminal cancer, I got the news on Tuesday. This has me doing a lot of thinking- doesn't it to most folks? So I'm trying to mentally create how I want my life to be - the changes I've mentioned. And then I'm trying to figure out how to do it- and give it some order. So with that - no current job change. That won't fix my complaint as the grass isn't greener on the other side of the fence. I'm looking for a way to add quality back into my life - I have much to ponder!

Dutch - sorry about your friend -didn't you have another friend recently diagnosed as well? yes, it does make you think.
The pain is not fun -I cleaned the shed as Dee was away -hayed them but turned down a ride offer -taking ibuprofen - not helping much -I'm not very good about doing nothing -so this is killing me!

BARB-feel better. rest up. good book? watch a movie? CATHY-i have to email the tech again. so not sure. enjoy the harp lesson. so sorry about the company being sold. it's happening a lot. a few people I know are out of a job when their companies merged. Leiber did those sparkly fun shaped Swarovski crystal little purses (minadieres sp?) you see on the red carpet. she did many First ladies for the balls etc. fun shapes. AMY-good luck with the washer. my microwave comes tomorrow. wish me luck. my middle name is "lady, we have a problem here" . so until it's in and working i"m a wreck LIBBY-hope all goes well with DS at Dr. AC doens't need to be pretty, just work well. Need to get the tech to email me back to set up a time to drop off the harp. I have another folk harp so I can use that but I'd like to get this done. DUTCH-so very very sorry. does make you think. take care. and again, so sorry. BETH-how's the weather? i saw there were bad storm and also a prison break, are you anywhere near birmingham. I see they caught everyone but 1 as of yesterday I think. Hope all is well with you. is DH looking forward to starting his route soon? August does seem early we start after Labor day
waving to all. HAGD

Hi All, tracked yes,
Went to a different "hard class" at the gym. I can tell I am gaining some strength and endurance because I was able to keep up fairly well although I am not "crushing it".
Faye- I know what you mean about getting deliveries of appliances etc. My mind does wander some about the carpet install...what if they show up with the wrong carpet? What if the guy installs it crooked or not centered exactly? I try to tell myself, stop, there is no use in worrying. Your "middle name" joke made me LOL.
Dutch- I am so sorry about your friend! Taking time to evaluate your life is a common response to news like that, we get these "wake up" calls. It's tough.
Barb- Wow, I hope you heal fast! The new washer is a top load and the simplest I could find. I am not very interested in all the fancy additions I just want my clothes washed. It has a delicate cycle which is about as "special" as I need. The one new feature is the "soak cycle" where it will just fill up and soak the clothes for up to 2 hours before washing. This would be good for some of the barn laundry.
Cathy- good job not gaining the pesky pound! Stay motivated. Sorry the company you work for is being sold again.
Libby- Hope you can find some comfort during the heat. The statement that you work 2 hours a month hardly describes your busy life!
Beth- Back to school seems so soon. Does the school year end earlier then most? Hope your garden is blooming and producing. Are you still getting your morning walks in? How are things going at your church?
Have to go get dressed the install is due at 9:00 am.

Good morning -leg is better -can walk almost normal -i spent the day on the couch and heating pad on/off -that seems to have helped. Will of course ride today Amy - I am sure it will all go well -it's not their first rodeo! will they move all the "stuff" or did you have to do that?
All you ladies out west seem to be getting the brunt of the heat -stay cool -
Does anyone use fans in the barns? When I had my horses in barns we always had fans somehow attached for cooling - I keep kidding the BM that we should run the extension cord we use for the heater in the winter so I can cool the shed -luckily the pasture has some shade somewhere pretty much all day long.
So waving to all -off to barn - HAGD - CBL

BARB-hope you are feeling better AMY-good luck to both of us today with installations!!! glad the "middle name" gave you a chuckle. One delivery man actually said it those exact words, other times just -oh, we don't carry that on the truck, oh we have to order that we just come to look. May your carpet lie flat and be seamed perfectly BETH-how's the temp? easier to walk or still very hot? CATHY-any news if things will change with the new company? how was the harp lesson? did you decide if you'll play with ensemble at the museum? still haven't heard from the tech about my harp waving to LIbby, Dutch, and ATF.. have a great day. microwave between 12:30 and 4:30 today. a little later than I 'd hoped for . i hope they come toward the earlier part of the day.

Hi horse lovers, Installing some white bamboo type shades on the outsides of the windows and doors on the south side of the house today! DH got a flat tire on his riding lawn mower-so yesterday was all about helping him with that and helping ds with his drs and activities. Didn't get the closet done-again! it's beginning to be a joke! Faye; hope the delivery come early and you love the microwave! Barb; glad your getting some relief Amy; yeah for tracking! Cathy; glad your feeling better and eating better-sorry about the company selling again Beth; yikes, a jailbreak by your place? Julie; hope you've been riding! Dutch; I know, what about this weather?? HAGR everyone!

Hi, all! Faye, love the middle name! And good luck with the delivery. I seem to always be the last one on the route that day; if they say 1:30 to 4:30, I will be 4:25 Hope you get a response for the harp fix...that is frustrating. Barb, good luck today riding (you are probably already there)! Hope there's no pain. Dutch, it's almost as if some higher being is telling us something sometimes, huh? Bad things happen and we hope we learn from it. I go through the "I'm going to get a new job" mantra every few months, but I don't act on it. The few times I've left places were either drastic changes I wasn't interested in, or something really bad is going to happen soon Hope you find some comfort...somewhere. Libby, hope you make it through the heat...are the shades to keep the heat from reaching the window? I did that with an apartment I used to live in. I wish I could do it here, but there's 1) no eaves to hang it from and 2) the HOA wouldn't allow it Stay cool!! The closet will get done when it gets done. Amy, good luck with the carpet. Stay positive!! Glad you're trying different classes...I should do that at the gym but none of them sound interesting to me. Beth, whaaa....a jail break!!?!? Harp lesson was fine, working on fingering a new piece. She didn't mention the museum thing so I didn't bring it up She's playing Wed night at a local book store that's closing, so will go to that, sounded kind of fun (lots of good deals on books, maybe?). Had an early all-hands meeting this morning. The CEO of the new company was a bit of doofus, in my book, but then, it's a HUGE company so hopefully his business sense is better than his personal interactions. Will swim today. Cathy

Cathy - have a good swim -hard when new people take over & you kind of get a feeling that this is not good!
I did ride -the only time I had a twinge was at the trot -walking /cantering was fine -but all good -bugs were kind of nasty -so we did our 3.3 mile loop in under an hour!
Going to a friend's pool for a bit -TTFN

BARB-have fun at the pool. glad you are feeling better CATHY-the tech called. the showroom is closed until Aug 23 so she can't get the paint. so we'll keep in touch and end of august set up an appt. then about a week to get the paint and I guess a week to do it which should be fine. have fun at the bookstore. AMY-good luck with carpet DUTCH-hope you can figure things out BETH-hope all is well . did you give more veggies away? what's with the groundhog? we had one but I named it I think our fox is back ; I saw a whole by the shed. i haven't seen her yet. I named her too. LIBBY-it's a closet, it will wait for you. hope the blinds go up easily. sorry about DH's tire.

5 minutes in and the famous words have been uttered they are very nice and trying to figure what to do. the molding of the cabinets blocks them from tilting it down and sliding it out.

Faye...you called it! Hope they can also get the new one in So, remember a year ago when I was so unhappy with the optometrist I tried, that I made an appointment with my old one? I have it on my calendar; it was for tomorrow. Since I didn't hear from them, I called. "We don't have an appointment for you." But I made it last year! "Sorry, we have nothing for you...at all. Anywhere." @%(*@$!!!! So now I get to wait a couple more weeks...at least it's not another year!

HI All, I am with you on the tired but still going to meet DD2 at the gym at 7pm. Just cardio machines.
The carpet runner is installed on the steps! Looks great. Really great installer. They were supposed to arrive between 9:30 and 10:30, Called me at 10:40, got here at 11:05 so not too bad. LOL. Once DH sees it I will post on FB. There was just enough extra runner to make a mat by the front door to match. I took it over to the shop and they bound the edges for no charge while I waited. I would use this shop again. Very good prices AND service.

Good morning. The weather is slightly cooler (lower 90s) and yes I'm still walking. The garden is growing fine. The tomatoes are coming in as well as the pole beans and cucumbers. I took some more cukes to church and gave them away. The groundhog is still around but has mostly stayed near the front yard. It can live as long as it stays away from the garden. Have been doing my monthly grocery shopping the past 2 days.
DH got his bus Monday so now it's in the back yard driveway. School starts this coming Tuesday (Aug 8). DH has already assigned seats for his riders. Open house for the school he drives for is this Thursday. He will find out if he has any new riders then.

Faye; yeah, the microwave is in! Beth; sorry, did we start a rumor about a jail escape by you? lol Barb; sorry the bugs were bad! glad your leg is better Julie; are you here? Cathy; I would have been pretty upset about the eye appointment also! glad your getting in soon Dutch; do you have air conditioning? Amy; so happy the stairs are done and your happy with everything! good job! Helped cook at the barrel series, last one, yesterday. The thermometer said 120 degrees above the big grill I was cooking on! Then someone else took over and I helped dgd saddle up Lucy. She beat her last time, so she was happy I wasn't sure we were going to get to stay at the club. There was black smoke and a huge tree had flames shooting in the sky across the street and about 100 ft back from the club driveway when we pulled in. 3 helicopters, tons of police and media around, thought they would evacuate us. It was a little nerve racking! Turns out police delivered a restraining order and the guy threw a multoff (sp?) cocktail at the policeman and set the fire. They found him a couple hours later in a burned out shed, he didn't make it. So, that was pretty disturbing! Get my crown today then I'm going to a saddle shop that an old friend works at to have some repairs done to the saddle that we borrowed from a friend (barrel saddle for dgd) it is missing a chonco and a strap-thought that would be a nice thank you. HAGR/D everyone!

Hi there all! WOW Libby -that is quite an adventure! Glad everyone (2 & 4 legged) are ok! And that DDG is doing well with Lucy!
Amy -the stairs look great -love the runner!
Beth- school starts very early there - and the kids have assigned seats on the bus? interesting -but guess it kind of makes it a little more organized! Our tomatoes are no where near ready -hopefully when we get back!
We have lots of cukes (i too giving them away) and peppers- jalapenos & some milder ones. basil about done -did 2 batches of pesto in ice cubes -got about 30 cubes -that will be about 15 meals.
off to get mani/pedi for trip -starting to organize stuff -will pack tomorrow -Dee picks us up Friday at 5AM! (that's a good friend!)
Waving to Dutch, Cathy, Julie -ride if you can - HAGD -CBL

Hi, all! Faye, I bet you're right about this week. Is Mars in retrograde? Anyway, glad the micro got in and all is good! Libby...yikes! Never a dull moment right? It's Molotov cocktail, I think...something the Russians used, probably in a Bond movie Glad all are OK and dgd had a good time...literally Good luck with the crown (my gut reaction was a tiara-type crown...how silly of me!). On my hike on Sunday, a couple of Western riders went by, wearing silver conchos on the reins, bridle and martingale. I mentioned that they all looked spiffy, and was thanked. They must have been meeting for something; can't think that was normal trail gear Beth, glad Mr Gopher is staying away from the garden. Was this the first year with the hay bales? Did they perform better than in-ground plants? Just curious. And yes, the schools start early back there, we have a few more weeks, I think...can't wait. Even though, I must admit, it's been very nice here with the loud kids moved to San Diego Amy, the stairs are really lovely; you did an amazing job! And smart too...not worrying about the part under the rug? Genius! Barb, glad you did OK on the ride. Hope you enjoyed the pool time! Hi to Dutch and Julie! Got in a swim yesterday, really nice. It's warm here (not as warm as what Libby and Dutch are dealing with), so the cool pool felt good. The cat has decided she REALLY likes turkey baby food. The vet mentioned using it as an additive to prescription cat food. Now it's all she wants. Totally OCD... Today I'll walk, then the harp/book sale/wine tasting event tonight with harp teacher performing. I've invited my neighbor and some wine-tasting friends, and I know a couple of the harpers will be there...should be fun! Cathy
