Am I the only big dumb head that can't figure out how to do this from an iPad or did I hear that it can't be done from an iPad ? I may have to stay alien head if I can't. Suggestions appreciated for android phone and iPad. If too much to explain, don't worry about it. TIA

I usually use Photoshop to resize photos. There may be a more limited program available on your iPad that allows you to do this.

I have some photo editing apps on the iPhone and iPad that allow you to change the size when you edit then save the changes. But if you can't be bothered faffing with that, on the iPad you can: select a photo and choose the option to email it to yourself in the 'from' field it will say images 1.6mb (or whatever the size of the photo is) click on that and you'll get another field that allows you to select the size of the image select the size that you want the image to be (anything under 1mb is fine) email it to yourself then save the smaller version back in your photos use as avatar

I can relate to the I Pad pictures. I had put up a picture and everyone was saying it was upside down. Not on my I Pad but this morning at work I looked and it is upside down. Tried again on my machine at work and it is saying the picture is to big. So grabbed a picture that is doesn't matter if it is upside down or now. But would like to have my boys picture.

On your iPad, go to your picture library and select a picture to email to yourself. In the Cc/Bcc line on the far right your will see the size of the image. Click on that say 899KB and you can change the size to smaller. Hit send and save the smaller picture to your photo library. I hope that helps.

This heat must have fried my brain. My apologies to Gemster. I didn't read her post carefully enough.

This heat must have fried my brain. My apologies to Gemster. I didn't read her post carefully enough. No worries Riva and at least you have heat though it's warmed up a bit here today. Jazi let us know if it works and we could possibly make a sticky for everyone who is having avatar issues. We could probably do with a guide for other devices/computers too but I don't use anything other than i-devices so can't help with that.
