Monday Motivation: If you’re not great at self-care, you’re likely going to be vulnerable to turning to food when you get stressed or upset because you won’t have other ways of calming down or soothing yourself. This week, focus on building other means of comfort and stress relief into your life so you have other things to turn to besides food.

Copying the post I mistakenly put on last week's alumni thread:
This morning: lowest weight in about 12 years.
Credits for Sunday: Ate seated Ate within calorie budget Tracked food Read Noom lessons Drank 8 cups of water Got 12K steps Got bending/stretching exercise doing garden cleanup/cutting back
On topic, response to stress, walking is my go=to these days. Especially now that spring is coming, being outside and walking are very rewarding and calming.

This message is perfectly timed.
I have a COVID case at work, which leaves me with 2/3 of my sales staff in quarantine.
STress is to the max.
I will not turn to food for comfort.
Lunch is packed and tracked, and I will stick to that.
DH is my anchor when I want to slide at home, he will help me for sure.

Hi, I am having some anxiety about too many people being out in my usual recreational walking area, maskless and not paying attention to distancing. I am trying to not eat that anxiety away. I need to find more alternate places, better times, and not let it derail my efforts. I am going by World Market today to look at the Adirondack chair for my outdoor space, that is self care. I will hereby swear to stay out of the candy aisle there.

I'm starting to do more in the self care department. It's more related to the fact that I have tons of stuff at home to use up. Face masks, foot masks, exfoliating scrubs type of stuff that I either need to use or throw away. This last weekend went really well. Yesterday was a lazy day for me, which was amazing. It's the first time in weeks that my mind was at peace in addition to my house being at peace. It's still an adjustment being home alone, but if yesterday was any indicator, I'm starting to love it. Yesterday I didn't get any exercise in, but I did take my vitamins. I was also lax with my water. This morning I got up for 0430 strength training, my food for everything except dinner is already tracked.

Here. Tracking, meal planning, getting as much exercise as I can fit in the day without becoming too debilitated with pain. My snacking is pretty well under control. I attribute this to continuing with the meditation lessons on Headspace. I did the "Acceptance" lessons twice and am about halfway through the "Managing Anxiety" lessons. This one is really helpful.

Oh, yes Advil always makes my weight go up and I'll accept quite a bit of pain to avoid taking it. Most medications seem to impact weight in one direction or the other.
On self-care: meditation, yoga and warm baths are mine.

The average gain of adults this year , 29 pounds . If you resisted in anyway give yourself a BIG credit ! We are comforting ourselves somehow . I am going to spend time catching myself making good choices so that I can thoughtfully increase what is working .

Still down 7 even if I'm up 10 since Christmas Tuesday Reality Check: If you tend to overeat at meals, worrying that you’ll get too hungry if you don’t, remember – there is ALWAYS another meal or snack coming. There will always be more food. Allergies are making life difficult and I am leaning on Aleve. When the pollen count (trees in this area right now) is up it kicks off arthritis. Yesterday I didn’t take it and tried to walk through it but only made it 2 miles before I gave up and came home. The weather is beautiful and I will take Aleve and try again today, otherwise things are ok but beginning to look forward the the next Beck in April We will be away during April but I’ll take the book with me.

I was going crazy with the tree pollen yesterday. Adding watery eyes to mask-fogged glasses is an extra special treat. Going to rain today, so that will wash some of it out.
Re today's tip, one of the best ST/HR cards I made myself last year was: There is no such thing as Food O'Clock. That one really helps me pay attention to my body's hunger and satiety cues. Along with the MSS eating habit. I've actually been able to dial back on some portions of things, like the Big-Ass Salad has become more of a Medium-Ass Salad. Or I'm fine w 1/2C of rice instead of 3/4 sometimes.

The eat more so you will not be hungry later was something my mother preached and I discovered early on did not work . Hunger comes for all sorts of reasons and starvation has only one . I have learned it is important to carry food with me and to seek healthy choices in places other than a fast food restaurant. The best place is food stores. They have single serving yogurt and loads of cut veggies and fruit . This is wisdom from before covid-19 days .

Today is my day for anxiety and being tired from waking up at 1am crying last night. I still got up for my 0430 strength training. Not sure if I'll stick it out at work all day or if I'll go home and take a nap. I planned on doing a 4 mile hike after work, not sure right now if I can make it or not. I did bring my breakfast, lunch and snacks, even an extra clif bar if I feel like I need it.

I googled and seems to be the culprit. my rings would not come off at all. www.drugs.com/slideshow/ibuprofen-1154

I feel like I usually check in here when things are going great but the reality is I'm still following Beck. Haven't kicked the evening snack habit so I set aside something to have then. I still want to kick it but for now I'm concentrating on eating more slowly. My weight seems to be down a bit, which is great, though not gaining is my big goal.
Had a weird experience yesterday when DH and went for a walk after lunch. I absolutely could not have been hungry because of not eating in awhile and lunch did not include empty carbs or things that give me cravings. Shortly after we started I felt ravenous like there was an empty pit in my gut. A repeat of the Beck lesson of skipping a meal. I often skip breakfast but this felt different and was a useful reminder.

Monday credits:
Weighed - up 0.4 lb. Read new posts, posted Meditated Strength & flexibility exercises, walked Tracked Ate sitting, mindfully Had 11:30 fasting blood work and I didn't really miss breakfast (odd 'cause I eat my largest calorie total at breakfast) Ended day 125 calories under plan DH went out to eat at the new Italian place and brought back ravioli and flourless chocolate cake. Tried a tiny bite of each but I was full from my at home dinner. Refused the fries he brought back. Had to accuse him of food pushing before he backed off on my trying the fries! The ravioli and cake (there's about a quarter of the piece of cake left) are in the fridge. I'm not sure if I will eat them or not. Wrote plan for today (which is just a calorie total so I can still decide about the leftovers)
OT: I already got the results back from the blood work and my cholesterol is up 25 points. I had been taking Cholestoff but my digestion has been wonky and I stopped it thinking it might be affecting the GI negatively. Doc will chastise me at our F2F in April I'm sure.
