Here we go! Starting off with our list of reasons to do this work. Read it when you are having a tough time in addition to scheduled times. it's important to really make the items on the list accessible for when the thoughts arrive about going off course. It will also help you keep your eye on the future prize instead of what is in front of your face. Write one (or more) up and figure out a plan to consistently review it. Not glaze your eyes over it or open and quickly delete the email reminder but really think about each item. Please share them here if you are up for it! Oh, and the results are in! Here was the order of trappiness for our group from most to least. Let's see if I can remember to use this new order- Stress May 3 Emotional Eating May 6 Getting off Track May 10 Holidays May 13 Family Problems May 17 Travel/Eating Out May 20 Psychological Issues May 24 Food Pushers May 27 fitin14, pirouette, sweetmarsh52, gemellus, Cyn, Emily.Postal, beherenow, ontosomething, charlotte21, phoenix, digplantweed, lindabee, lumberjack55, wendroz, corgi, mary~m, peacemama, bunzoni, tina1966mi, mollyrox, melbre, Emily.Postal, irisinnia, gracie,

"You want to lose weight for a reason--probably many incredibly important reasons." p. 26
My ARC (which I keep on the vision board in my home office and a snapshot on my phone):
Life is too short to be spent overweight, unhappy, and unhealthy. If I want to feel great and really live my life the way I want to, then I need to do what I can to maintain a healthy weight.
Taking care of myself is a necessity. My health is a priority.

I good reminder for me to read and pause and take in, vs glazing over. Some of my reasons were health related, avoiding diabetes and stress on my joints, others were related to riding my horse, when I videotape I’ll focus on riding and not how I look. Another was feeling more confident in what I wear.

Not glaze your eyes over it or open and quickly delete the email reminder but really think about each item. This is me. I have a reminder set on my fitbit to read my ARC but many times I will just click off the beep and go about my day. I really need to remember that it only takes a few minutes to go over my list and just do it. Most of the time I'm not doing anything that important that I can't take the time to do this for myself. I am using the Day One app on my phone and I've really scaled back my list to what's important to me right this minute. Of course, I'll revise my ARC as needed. ARC I have the skills to - succeed in my WL journey be in control of food be proud of myself for losing the last 10 pounds feel more comfortable in my clothes make sure I stay healthy as I get older

I've updated my list to the most important ones to me right now: I will feel better physically and be healthier, be better able to enjoy activities, feel more comfortable with my appearance and in my clothes, and be proud of the accomplishment of losing weight. The full advantages list is on my phone, along with this quicker version. I have reminders set to read them regularly.. thanks mare, for the advice to actually "read" them and not just glance over. I also like the suggestion in the book of changing the order of items on the list to keep the advantages fresh in your mind.

To be able to hike and perform other strenuous exercise without gasping like a fish out of water. No matter how much or little cardio I do, if I am carrying too much weight nothing will be easy.
To eat food that make me feel good. Life is too short to eat things that make me lethargic and cause other unpleasant side effects.
To reduce back and knee discomfort.
To (possibly) jog a mile.
To have less difficulty finding clothes that fit and flatter.
To reduce risk of developing hypertension, runs in the family as well as overall risk reduction.
I had an older list I had kept from a prior Beck course, I may add a few more when I find it.

I thought about how easy it would be to say that I have a list and I'll read it. But I realized if I did that, I wasn't truly making a commitment to myself and this process.
So I opened up my pinned note about Beck that always shows at the top of my notes list and I read the list I had created back in September. If I am being really honest, I can tell you that reading my ARCs was not something that I excelled at. BUT, I was very excited to see when I read my list, how true I have remained to it and how I feel those things having lost the weight I have.
I stole these two from Cyn during that round and they are very much things I want to focus on: - I don't want to wear my comfort food anymore. The feeling of discomfort from the weight it puts on and the guilt I feel afterward last a lot longer than the feeling of comfort that I get from eating it.
- Face your stuff, don't stuff your face!
Of course, you can probably intuit that the trap I need the most work on is Emotional Eating.
Have a great day!

I am not "actively" participating but reading along with the threads. Wow, so many comments really hit home for me. I am going to make a list for myself and really think through it (again). I know it works...
