No choice (or your equivalent). The decision is the struggle not the food itself is the basis of this one. I find rules surprisingly easy and hard to follow. There are times when it is easy - No Choice! It isn’t time to eat! At other times it is so hard ‘ I don’t care! I’ll do what I want to do!
I feel like a child having a tantrum!
But, over time, the rules stick, habits get formed and it gets easier. One just has to have the stick-to-it-Iveness to do it till the path is grooved. One day at a time.

Yes! What Ermabom said. That is sooo me. I can skate by with not following the rules for a bit, but it will catch up with me eventually. I do much better when I ‘follow the rules’. (I even Tracked my food today—with a Smile!!) And many of the Rules have become second nature now, so I actually have even fewer rules to follow.

Yes, I'm a good rule follower, until I'm not. I am trying to follow them. One thing I've not been consistent with is writing down my food in a notebook. I always enter it in my phone on my app but not the notebook. This time I am doing the notebook and marking through, adding as needed, etc. I know it's only been a couple of days but I can see the benefit of this. In the app if I didn't plan it and ate it, it doesn't show. Same as if I planned it and didn't' eat it. It just doesn't show up any longer. I've had to make a couple of circles and even scratched a line or two. I see some advantage to this. The No Choice worked well for me today. I really wanted that snack sized snickers bar but I told myself no choice and moved on! I also didn't want to write it down! We can do this.

this is why I refer to these things as habits and not rules and I track my habits to make sure I'm doing them more often than not so they become habits. Habits are much easier to follow than rules!

I'm thinking about writing food down in a notebook now after seeing what you said, gemellus. Interesting. I also am very good at following the rules until my spoiled brat personality shows up. Ugh. She is very difficult. I like to say " My Choice is to eat to be healthy" vs. No Choice which seems more limiting and negative to me.

Making a plan committing to a plan has really done a great job in making my mind calm and peaceful. I had to get over rebelling against myself. Part of it was understanding I had no audience except myself in most circumstances. Even with an audience "people" just did not have a real investment in my choice to follow the plan I committed to.

No choice works for me. Slowing building healthy habits.

lunabear, my inner toddler also throws tantrums when restrictions are set up. So No choice doesn't work for me as much as 'My decision is to eat according to plan' or just 'My decision' and 'My choice'.
