Good morning and happy Friday! Last long weekend for me until February most likely, so will savor it. I went to the doctor yesterday afternoon and was positive for strep throat, so need to pick up antibiotics from this pharmacy this morning when they open. The appointment was kind of annoying because the doctor thought I was there for a check-up (which I am overdue for) even though I'd just gone through my symptoms and the reason I was there with the nurse. Then she still didn't seem concerned and said my throat didn't look that red so I told her that may be the case but that it was also one of the most painful and swollen sore throats I'd ever had and my entire neck was sore from it, so then she finally did the strep test. I felt better at least getting the positive result and knowing that's what it is and hopefully the amoxycillin can kick in pretty quickly.
I'm in the office today because I wasn't sure who else would be in to open it up but I'm masked and will stay holed up in my office with the door closed most of the day. I don't think my boss mentioned if we're closing early (and he's out today) but leaning towards just telling everyone to leave at 1. I don't imagine much work will be getting done. I didn't have any plans tonight or tomorrow which is just as well since I think I can still be contagious for a day or 2 after starting antibiotics. For NYE, we've been back and forth with our friends about whether to go out to an early dinner/drinks or just go to one of our houses. I've had mixed results going out to restaurants on NYE in the past (usually very overpriced for just eh service given how crowded it always is) but there's a newish restaurant nearby that's doing a really delicious sounding 4 course dinner with wine pairings. I think it's $180/person if we do the wine pairings which isn't bad for that much food and wine (and given that it's NYE) and it's a place I've been wanting to check out so we'll see. On NYD we'll go to the Mummers Parade like usual but don't think it will be a late night like some years since I have to work the next day. I definitely prefer it when NYD falls on a weekend with a day off after!
A: none.. less achy today but my kickboxing gym is closed anyway and figure another day off won't kill me!
B: leftover sausage and egg casserole
L: leftover tomato turkey orzo
S: York peppermint patty
D: TBD.. maybe we'll order pho?
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and a fabulous New Year!
