Good morning all,
Esther, I'm sorry you had a crummy day yesterday, but those scarves sound lovely. I assume you are knitting (versus crocheting)?
I'm going to call my neurologist this morning about this new medication. I've been on it about 10 days and it's making me feel lousy. Mostly the night pill is the one that's the worst. So maybe they will let me reduce the dosage.
Not much at work today, except lunch with my ex-coworkers.
I started my Christmas shopping last night, with an Amazon-binge of gifts for my older son and his SO, the ones who just moved to Buffalo. After conferring with his brother, I got them an antenna for their little tv, a small toaster oven, some speakers, a set of Dove lotions and shampoos for her, and a small box of Penzey's spices. With my points and the sales, it all came to about $85. I will also send them a Christmas card with some cash. So I feel good about getting started. My other son is much harder to shop for because they are much better off and have everything they need. But he gave me a couple of ideas.
Hope you have an excellent Friday!

Hi Maryenne and ATF,
Yesterday's lunch was a lot of fun. The house was built sometime between 1890 and 1895. It is almost 4000 sq ft including the attic. They have renovated with a new kitchen, bathrooms, etc. but they still have curved glass windows and all of the original wood with egg and ______ beading (don't remember what it is called) and glass light globes in the dinning room.
We've decided on our lot so we will meet with the builder next Thursday and I've emailed our real estate agent and finance people. We've gotten the names of two handymen to get quotes for guest bathroom work that needs to be done. I hope to get them both called today.
Today is our usual lunch group which is always a lot of fun and we are meeting friends for dinner tonight. No real plans for the weekend other than getting a Christmas tree bought, home, up and decorated. This will probably be our last real tree to get, assuming we have more storage space in the new house.
Esther, I agree with Maryenne that your scarves sound really nice. I love soft!!
You all know by now how much I love to bake.......any recipe I should try this holiday season??
We have a gray day today but I don't think any rain is predicted so I will be shining on my own parade.....how about all of you??
Peg

Good morning everyone.
We have a cool and sunny day today. It is so nice to have the light.
I am going to join a gym today to use their machines and get stronger. The senior center classes that I used to do all involve standing for an hour which I can't do right now. So I will try the gym and see how that works for me.
I am doing some Christmas shopping also. Maryenne, thanks for reminding me about Penzeys. All the cooks on my list love their spices. Do you have a Penzeys store near you? Some of my family members put wish lists online. That is helpful.
Does anyone know what is happening with Michelynn? It is unusual for her not to post for so long.
Have a good weekend all.

Good morning everyone! It's a cool, but beautiful sunny day here. Reading the posts about Christmas shopping helps get me into the mood. I have most of my shopping done, but still have a little to do. I don't buy a lot of gifts, but the ones I have left to shop for are hard to know what to choose. Thank goodness for online shopping! As has been the case for the past four years, I won't do much decorating. In fact, I don't have many decorations left. I will put up a small artificial tree, however, and hang some wreaths. I'd like to find a new nativity set. The problem is that I want one that looks really nice, but is inexpensive enough that I feel comfortable letting the DGKs play with it when they come. Buying online doesn't work well for that criteria because I can't actually see the figures. Oh well, if I run across one I'll get it, and if not it's not a big issue. We still expect to bring my dad home from rehab tomorrow. I'm a bit anxious about that. His therapist at rehab says he is ready, but he is still very weak. But he wants to come home so badly, and he is depressed being there so even though it may be somewhat of a struggle in the beginning I think that being here will be therapeutic for him, and he will gain strength faster. Certainly both he and my mom will be a lot happier. She is noticeably deteriorating a little everyday with the Alzheimer's, and she is so stressed about him which I think makes it worse. He will have home health physical therapy (as before and as my mom has) here, and also a home health nurse a couple of times a week. Both the PT and the nurse are excellent. It will feel good to try and develop a somewhat "normal" routine again. Hope each of you will have a lovely day! Waving to all who may stop by later.

Good morning all. Yesterday was my first day on Medicare. A milestone of a sort! We are going out shopping in a little bit. It is the Holly Folly here in Provincetown and the shops have some good sales. Tomorrow night we will see our piano player friend. His shows are great and he is such a talented musician. Maryenne it sounds like you have a good start on your shopping. I hope to get a few things tossed off my list while I am here. Joyce, I have the same criteria for my manger scene! The little ones love to move the figures around and act out scenes. Esther, I can almost feel those scarves from your description. Lucky recipients! Peg, it sounds like a busy day ahead for you. And forward motion on the new house! Have a great day! I need to get out and enjoy the sunshine while it's here! Lynn
