Good morning, Jewish Musings thread!
sorry I cannot load the regular opening. My computer is unhappy, and I cannot cut and paste using my mobile device. (If it is possible to do this, I can't figure it out, so....) I will do better for Monday, once my computer decides it likes me again.
Anyway, here we are in our first full week in the new forum.
Since we are, in a way, beginning anew, perhaps we could reintroduce ourselves to one another and to the WW world by stating where we presently are in our WL/ WM journeys.
i started WW a few years ago, and lost about 20 lbs in the first few months. THen I stalled. And stalled. I gained a few lbs back, then lost those, then gained them back again, etc. I still have at least 20 more to lose, but am currently not at the high level of motivation I need to actually sustain weight loss.
where are you on your journey? If your current status is less than terrific, do you have plans to change that, and if so, what?

Hi all After reading yesterday's thread that you don't have to be frum and only have to have a Jewish heart, I decided to join in. 😄 I'm once again working to get back to goal. I've had 6 foot surgeries and a knee surgery in the last 6 years and have had even more excuses. I was at goal 2 years ago at my daughter's wedding and since then, well, I've been going to weekly meetings all along but not working the program. I went back to points plus 2 weeks ago and last week lost 2.6. I actually made goal in 2003 and have been over goal, at goal, over goal, at goal, over goal......since. My first grand baby, a grandson is 7 weeks old and when my daughter goes back to work next Monday I'll be watching him twice a week. I need to get back to goal to be able to run after him! 16 pounds to go. Then I'd love to lose another 10.

Boker Tov! My weight loss journey began over 7 years ago. I wanted to loose weight before my wedding. Although, with all the stress, etc I was at my heaviest. I do need to keep my weight at bay, due to the soft tissue I have in my bones. Knowing my health makes it easier for me to stay on plan. Before both of my pregnancies, I made sure I was at a low weight so my body could handle the gains. I'm currently within 10 pounds of goal, and DS is just over 2 months. At times it is hard to stay focused, with DD3years and the new baby. As the previous poster said, need to have energy to chase them. One day at a time. Completed day 5 of tracking, being OP, on to day 6. Have a Super Sunday! Tamara

Boker Tov All! I started WW about 8 years ago, @ 300 + #. Lost 70 pounds, stalled, gained some, lost some, had other issues & life interventions, gained, lost, gained, etc. You know the drill. When the new program rolled out, I never really got on board with it, so finally dropped my membership. Meanwhile, it's summer. I find I am starting to lose wt - intentionally - and that I do better when I track/journal my food & my emotions/feelings when I'm wanting to eat. It's another beautiful day here - I am taking a bucket & going blackberry picking later (7 AM here). Some for the freezer, and if I put some in a cobbler for John, he would be in heaven! Have a good day all!

Holly here. I live in San Diego. My weight and height were in proportion for the bulk of my adult life. Then came menopause and I gained around 40 pounds. I did an old version of WW (I found the information online, didn't think I needed to join) and lost all the weight I'd gained. My weight then settled at about 7 pounds over my pre-menopause weight, and I was a happy camper (everything I'd read about menopause said not to be concerned if you gained 5 or 10 pounds with menopause, so 7 was fine with me). Stopped working the plan. After a couple of years, I was up an additional 20 to 25 pounds and realized it was time to get serious. (I had always been a size medium, 8/10, and being size 10/12 was okay, but somehow size 14 wasn't!) I joined WW during the Momentum plan. Counted points for about a year. Hovered at between 2 and 3 pounds over goal for about 2 to 3 months. Realized I needed to "shake things up" to break the plateau. Tried the Simply Filling Technique. Ten days later, I weighed in at 2 to 3 pounds BELOW goal. I've been Lifetime at Goal since August or September of 2010, and have been using SFT this whole time (okay, I tried counting PointsPlus, but it lasted for about a week). I haven't even learned SmartPoints. I still use PP values for non-SF foods (with my PP weekly allowance). I'm still LT at goal. Happy with my new size small (the mediums are really too big for me now).

Good morning all. Mazel tov on the new grandson bosh! It's the best job I ever had, being ShaSha (They can't say Savta) to my 2 babies. You'll love it!! I'm Beryl, full time school nurse and part time adjunct nursing faculty. Heavy (fat) my whole life except twice--before my wedding and right afterwards. My highest weigh was probably 210 or so. On WW since a teenager. Finally both DDs got engaged at the same time and both weddings were within 3 months of each other. 5 years ago I got serious and changed my whole life. I eat healthy and clean, I exercise every single day, and I allow myself wine and chocolate (or sometimes rum!) when I wish. I was at goal (155 pounds for me) and since SP came out, I have actually lost 12 more pounds. Don't think I can continue this, but I'm sure going to try! I have to plan my meals, and schedule my exercise in. I used to love those 100 calorie packs, but they did me no favors. But everyone is different, and we find what works for us! Here you'll find support and kindness, that's for sure! Beryl

Hi everyone, just popping in to say shavua tov, bosh22 when I was in high school, which was a modern Orthodox yeshiva HS, I had a friend whose name was Bonnie and she decided to spend the year after graduation learning in Israel. One of our friends said to her, "watch, you're going to become ultra-Orthodox and when you come back, your name will be Boshie." So you made me think of that story. Also, if you have longer things to say, it's probably best to start a new post in the Reply box at the bottom rather than commenting underneath.

I'm still learning this new system!! Makes me nuts but we're all in the same boat at least. Bosh, my parents were both still alive 3 years ago when JoJo, our DGD was born, so they were Bubbie and Zayde and we were Savta and Poppy. Jo couldn't say Savta so I became, gladly, ShaSha. My dad died shortly after she was born, but it's still going to be the same thing in our family. I love to cook, and DS is a chef, but dislike the daily cooking. Give me Rosh Hashana and Seders for 25 and I'm good. Day to day--UGH. But I do it. I'd love to go out more, but we just don't. Too tired after working.

Hi everybody. I'm late today because I've been sleeping and/or resting most of the day. The air conditioning is not working, and my house is currently 81 degrees. I am feeling kind of sick from the heat and a possible electrolyte imbalance. I need to take it easy, and I will be seeing another doctor on Wednesday.
Re my WLJ: Some years ago, I lost a huge amount of weight, but unfortunately have gained it all back. I am not happy about this but try to feel good about myself anyway.
Welcome to all our newcomers! I am glad to see you joining in.
Have a peaceful rest of the day, Lee

Welcome, Basha to the gloriously Happy Kingdom of Savta, Bubbie, Nana, Gamma, Oma, Sha-Sha, and Grandma!Aren't the little ones wonderful? Grandkids, eininklech (My parents spoke Yiddish and I grew up in that language), nechadim (I spent 10 years living in Israel and am married to an Israeli.) Pure joy! And your popularity with your own adult children will also skyrocket when you become Babysitter-in-Chief!
Oh, yeah, and welcome Jewish Musings too.
I'm been on WW, or Tops, or Overeaters Anonymous or some generic diet since age 12. Have been heavy since early childhood. Was at goal maybe once or twice as an adult (before the wedding) but kept weight off only very briefly.
I've been in and out of WW a dozen times. I lose 30-40 lbs and I keep the food journal, and then suddenly I just run out of steam. I turn to food to sooth, calm, reassure myself whenever I get nervous or upset, which is often. Maybe I should take a lesson from my grandbabies and get a pacifier!
Anyway, today is today. Every day is a new beginning and another opportunity. It's a fresh slate.
I'm going to the pool and walk in the water for 30 minutes. That's my goal. I'm grateful to be part of this group because putting my goal out there in a post strengthens my resolve. The other thing I'm going to do is throw out the box of donuts I bought for half-price (what a bargain!) last night. They belong in the garbage, not in me. Those of you who know me know how difficult it is for me as a child of WWII refugees to throw out food. But it has to be done.
I'm in WW at the moment, my weight has shot up, my clothes don't fit, and I'm grasping for the motivation to stick to a routine.
So here's the plan for today: I'll start with a couple of BIBO (Breath In-Breath Out), make a salad, throw out the donuts and go to the pool. OK? I'm looking forward to tonight when I will babysit my 7 year old DGS and the almost 4 year old twins. Darlings!
How's that, banot? Good?

Can someone please tell me the right way to post a new post? (Not a reply to someone's post.) There's Quick Reply at the bottom, which seems to do the same things as Reply at the top, or Quote. I can't figure it out. Right now I'm under Quick Reply.
Help!

Hi peachymom1! The quick reply at the bottom is just right. That's for posting like we used to on WW. When you post in the little comment box (it has your name in it and it's in every post), that's just for a "WTG!" or "Mazel tov!" Hope that helps.

Could someone explain to me why I can't load a picture? When I go to my pictures and upload it, the box comes on saying it's too big. It's the same size as regular picture I used for everything else. Do I need to switch servers again? I'm on FireFox

Do I need to switch servers again? I'm on FireFox It needs to be 1MB max. You can reduce the size online using a free site like www.fixpicture.org/.
