Good morning everybody, Lynn, I hope your BFF is better today and that you were able to get some rest. Peg, did you get your Christmas tasks finished? I am having a difficult time at work. My new boss is very dramatic - someone has actually called her a nutjob. I thought that I would be isolated because of the nature of what I do, but she has found ways to insert herself into some of my projects, and not in a good way. There is some reorganization going on and I'm not very optimistic about it. So I'm definitely planning to retire soon - the only question is when. I've got two trips to DC and one to San Diego in January and February that I really want to take - they both involve presentations on a national scale. After those, I will begin seriously to decide on a date to leave. If I can hold out through July, my birth month, I'll have more SS $$ and a slightly higher pension. So, we'll see. I am trying to not react in an emotional way, but in a thoughtful way. Stay tuned Said boss is out of town today so it will be quiet, I hope. Hope you all have a good day! Maryenne

Good morning Maryenne and ATF,
Maryenne, sorry to hear about your new boss. I often wonder how some people get to the position of authority that they do/have. May I suggest a "countdown calendar" to a possible July retirement date. I knew years ago one fall that I didn't want to return to the school I was teaching at the following year so I started a countdown, marking the day to submit my notice to leave, etc. and everyday I would mark off another square. There were times when I would forget then I would get to mark off an entire week...kind of fun!
I ended up going shopping yesterday afternoon but still need a couple of stocking stuffers.....hopefully I will get to those today.
I am off to the bank later this morning and we are meeting with our builder this afternoon. My menu list has a good start as does the grocery shopping. I really need to finish all of that by tomorrow evening so Thursday and Friday are free to wrap, etc. Four days til our house goes from 2 residents to 8 and two dogs. Both dogs are small poodles, one is a puppy. DS isn't bringing his two dogs, both are larger. I wouldn't survive with 8 humans and 4 dogs under this roof, even for just a couple of days with the Christmas tree and holiday village......nope. This is a very scary thought. 😜
Temps are to get warmer today and continue that way through the week. Make sure you enjoy the day!
Peg

Good morning friends. My BFF is a lot better today. I stopped over with her prescriptions a while ago. This has been an especially stressful week for her. The holidays are not joyful for everyone and with the emphasis on perfect celebrations it can be stressful. I am grateful that she is home and had no major physical issues. Maryenne, I agree with Peg about a count down calendar helping through a difficult work situation. When do you have to let them know of your intention to retire? I had to give a year's notice to have the maximum severance package. I was glad to do that. You will know when the time is right. The calendar was a nice visual and it gave me great pleasure to cross off some of the "lasts", such as last faculty meeting, last dance, etc. Having a crazy boss was not part of my scenario but there were some who filled in the crazy part! I miss some of the people I worked with, but have kept in touch. Peg, you are so organized! My way of dealing with Christmas this year is to travel to the grandchildren on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. They all live within twenty miles. Thanksgiving is the holiday I host. Enjoy the chaos! It doesn't happen often and is enjoyable for a few days! I actually lost a bit of weight this week, a real victory for me given my eating habits. I have consistently increased my steps and I am feeling better because of that. Have a great day. Hello to those that follow. Lynn
