Good morning Monday.
It's a warmish rainy day here. Supposed to rain most of the day. DH is starting to get tax stuff in order since he's off this week. We usually file fairly early. I'm going to attempt to clean house some today. I'm not the best housekeeper but it's livable.
Amy-enjoy your yoga class and lesson today.
Dutch-are you still healing?
Faye-still have DD at the house or did she go home?
Barb-have you booked any more shows?
Cathy-enjoying the new car?
Libby-stay safe on the road.

Good Morning - Beth -thanks for getting us going this week! I do have a small (one table) event at the end of february -it's a "coffee house" with artists -so not really expecting much in the way of sales but the table is only $15 so I figured why not? My DH is also starting on tax stuff - he also volunteers as an AARP tax preparer - so ours sometimes takes back seat -also depending on if we owe or get back! It's still warmish here (40) so may try for a short trail walk again -cause we are getting rain/cold after today.
My plan is to head to Y tomorrow morning to start slowly back on weights & do some swimming -have to really get motivated -
Anyone seen any movies over the holiday they want to share -good or bad? I want to go see Sing now that the kids are back in schooL!
Amy -let us know how lesson went -
Waving to the gang - HAGD -CBL

Hi, all! Belated Happy New Year! My "resolutions" for the year: 1) Get my credit cards down/stop buying things I don't really need 2) Take better care of myself (yeah, I guess that means losing weight but I think alot of things are involved in this Faye, sounds like you had fun with DD! Beth, nothing wrong with going to bed early. Hope church was nice yesterday. Barb, glad you had fun and are going to try and get back into the gym thing. You might like yoga Libby, safe driving! Hi to Dutch and Amy (glad you're Winter trainer feels Lukas will be good for you...no rush, enjoy the learning experience!)! Managed to stay up past midnight on Saturday. Friends had a lovely sit-down dinner for 8, and then we played a couple of games. Stayed away from champagne as it would make me sleepy so had coffee and Baileys, and then Martinellis Got home around 12:30. Didn't feel well yesterday, I think just too much food, too much booze. Went for a walk in the neighborhood and had a quiet day. Today went for a hike and will practice the harp. Gotta gear up for Saturday. Still didn't receive the tool kit for regulating the levers, Faye, so might call tomorrow to see what's going on, they are usually quicker than this. Supposed to rain for the next week, started last night and just kind of cold. Back to work tomorrow!! Cathy

Good morning.
I go see the dr. this afternoon. After that DH and I will go see the Star Wars movie since Tuesdays are senior day discount. After the movie we'll go out to eat on the Christmas gift card to Outback DH got from the school principal for $15.00. It's not much but we'll add the AARP 15% discount to it and it will help lower the bill. We don't get appetizers or alcohol so that helps keep the bill down. I'll post tomorrow what the dr. said.

Good Morning- Beth - Were you effected by the winds last night? enjoy the movie - Tuesdays are senior discount here too! We try to go often -but today DH has an AARP tax training con call!
I got to the Y this morning -(!) just did light weights on the machines & then 10/10/10 (eliptical/bike/treadmill) -thinking I'll be sore tomorrow! May try to get to the pool for some easy laps then check out a water excercise class tomorrow! (plus they have a steam room & sauna!)
Rainy here today -all day -so shed will not be pretty! will feed lunch inside & hope they stay dry.
Faye - enjoy your class - I may try a yoga class in the future -
Dutch -hope you are feeling better -
Waving to Cathy , Amy & Libby - stay warm/dry - ride if you can - HAGD

Eek! Posted to the old thread! lol Good frozen morning! It's hard to find a place over the holidays! Everyone doing the family thing I'm still looking. I did learn of a possible horse sitter I would trust... so waiting to get her number and explore that option... More cost effective, that's for sure! *sigh* holidays are done, now back to the normal grind!

Ya, I'm still healing. Laproscopic surgery - however it's spelled. So just a bandaid now... which is SUPER nice! Few fingers still numb and I called Dr this morning - I don't think that is quiet right... he said upwards of 24hrs. So we'll see, I'm not one to worry.
Here's to a great 2017!

Hi, all! Faye, have fun with all your activities today! Barb, yeah, it's been raining here since last night so...probably will hole up inside today, no swimming Beth, good luck at dr today; I meant to see that movie yesterday but never made it. My dad loves Outback. Dutch, good to follow-up with dr just in case. Everyone is different so hopefully no cause for alarm. Hi to Libby (yeah, thanks for bringing rain with you through CA, thank God you didn't bring snow!) and Amy! So yes, no swimming today. It's fine if it's raining AFTER I get there but to go out in it...nah. I got the hike in yesterday so hopefully will hold me until tomorrow. Got caught up on work emails, got the tracker done, so now it's kind of quiet. Maybe I'll practice that harp thing Cathy

Hi all, Had my 2nd lesson on Lukas with Winter trainer. He makes me work hard but I love it. He had me doing no stirrup work and my legs eventually gave out and I had to stop. He told me no more yoga classes before riding lessons! LOL. My legs are sore today but not too bad. My homework is working on canter departures. Trot circles, sitting and posting trot, and of course no stirrup exercises. I will lesson again on Sunday. I already feel some improvement in how I am connecting with Lukas. This is what happened last year, I bought Rueben in the fall and winter trainer got us working as a team by the time spring showed up. I wish I still had Rueben and didn't have to start over with a new horse but this is what it is. I am feeling more positive about the process and I love putting the work in. Trainer Dave is very good about breaking things down for me and helping me to focus on the small goals that add up to the big goals. For the canter he has me teaching Lukas the "outside leg" cue for the canter lead, which Lukas does not do now but he wants him to learn it.
Cathy, I signed up with a meetup hiking group. So far no hikes I can join in on have been posted but maybe one will come up that I can do. Hope the harp tools work out for you.
Libby, How is the kitchen coming along?
Faye- Been to NYC lately? I tracked today. Glad you are tracking now too. It is hard but if I remember it becomes easier the longer you stick with it. Bought some frozen veggies in steam bags to help me switch to healthy eating. Made it though the day at the office without eating a piece of chocolate so I feel accomplished. The snug pants I was wearing was a good reminder.
Beth- are you on Outback's email list because they send out deals sometimes.
Barb- what is the mud situation and how long does it take you to groom to tack up. Lukas is talented at getting mud covered but the blanket saves me some grooming time.
Dutch, some people tend to swell more then others so hopefully that is the issue and it will resolve.
HAGD Amy

Good morning, Wednesday
AMY-glad you like the winter trainer. sounds like you have a good plan even though it's more work to train Lukas but will be worth it in the long run. Yeah, maybe another day for yoga--or after to stretch out, would be better DUTCH-how's the swelling today? BARB-glad you like the Y. Swim exercise class was fun, I did all that when I was recovering and that was actually ok, even though I sort of hate the pool. BETH-did you finish your taxes? I think you were doing them early? What did you think of Rogue 1? hope you enjoyed Outback CATHY-how are the tools? were you able to regulate? good luck LIBBY-are you home? how is the kitchen going? How is one service dog? I think Dakota was ok and went with you but I can't remember the other one's name and I know one was having an issue.
harp lesson and acupuncture today. HAGD

Good morning.
Yesterday didn't go exactly as originally planned but it turned out okay. I saw the dr. about my knee. I asked the nurse there to give me a copy of the MRI report. It shows an oblique tear anterior horn medial meniscus. DH was in the room with me this time. After going over all the options with the dr. I decided to go the surgery route. It will be done arthroscopically. It's scheduled on the 16th of this month. That is MLK day and DH is off and doesn't have to try to get a sub that day.
So I spent over 2 hrs at the dr. and when we got to the theater we were too late to see the showing of Rogue One unless we wanted to wait 50 minutes. So we opted to see Sing. It's a cute movie with lots of music in it. I was surprised DH enjoyed it as much as he did. Well after the movie we went to the Outback but there was such a long line and a very long wait just to get a table we chose to go to IHOP. We had a coupon for a free short stack. We got 2 short stacks and a side of bacon. When we went to pay for it somehow the register doubled the coupon and all we paid for was the side of bacon as we got water to drink. A very inexpensive meal. We'll go to the Outback another day.
Amy-glad the winter trainer is able to help you so much with Lukas. You and Lukas will come together as a team.
Cathy-getting credit cards paid is a great goal. Getting healthy is too.
Dutch-is the swelling going down? Is your hand in a cast?
Faye-enjoy the harp lesson and acupuncture today.
Barb-$15.00 for a table isn't too bad if it's an eight foot table.
Libby-are you in AZ yet? What did the vet say about Dakota?

amy, I'm happy for you and Lukas! Sounds like a great winter trainer. squiggle37 I figured surgery. MIL had it done 2x. Her's was a very bad tear. Surgery went well with a pretty fast recoup - and pain went away fast. I can feel my middle finger now.... ring finger still numb. So that's improved! Frozen solid here! With windchill ... 8 degrees. Snowing too - small and pellet like. brrrr!

WOw- busy morning -Dutch -glad the fingers are getting there -yikes - your cold is coming here this weekend -today close to 50- but after that.......Amy- happy for you & Lukas -it takes time to become a team -and it sounds like he has some unlearning/learning to do -but your trainer seems to be putting you on the right track -does he ever ride Lukas for schooling? You asked about the mud -well right now the paddock is sheer ice - not pretty -there are parts where the snow/ice has melted away but you have to walk over a LOT of ice to get there -both horses are being very careful! Penny does roll even with her blanket but you are right that does make grooming easier. I take her blanket off for a few hours any day the temps get to 40 -so she can roll naked! We are going to try to get out later today -just walk the part of the trail where people don't! Will let you know how that goes! Beth - I want to see Sing as well -maybe tomorrow! are a lot of the jokes over kids heads? Faye- acupuncture? wow - for what - I'm assuming it helps? just not sure if I could deal with the needles!
SO after the gym yesterday i was just a little sore (I did go easy yesterday) so figured I try the water aerobics -well, that was almost harder than yesterday - I'm thinking I will be more sore from that! Will do it again tho -kind of liked it!
Waving to Cathy & Libby -hope you guys are doing ok too! (kitchen on the home stretch?) HAGD - Ride if you can - CBL

Hi, all! Faye, I read the instructions, compared the tools to the instructions and tried adjusting JUST the bridge pins but that may not be enough. So looks like I'll have to get the harp up on a table (kitchen peninsula may work) and fuss with the levers as well. I wish I'd got the tools over the weekend...had plenty of time to fuss with them. Now I feel sort of stressed to get it done before Saturday Have good visits at yoga and acupuncture! Barb, hope you get in a short ride...the paddock sounds yucky. I love that you enjoyed the pool class Beth, well...you made yesterday work even with the changes. Arthroscopic will have such small incisions you'll be glad you did it. My brother had some scar tissue taken out behind his knee and he was SUPER glad he did it. Dutch, glad the feeling is still coming back. Good luck with Dr follow-up. Amy, I like the sound of your winter trainer. He seems good a breaking things down, which is the sign of a true athlete. Have fun working with Lukas! Hi to Libby...hope the rain didn't spoil your drive yesterday. OMG...I think there was over 6 inches yesterday...this morning it's just a light drizzle. If it stays that way all day, I'll try for a swim. Sometimes the water level gets pretty high in the pool and the heater can't keep up...we'll see how it goes. Well, and of course, continue to fuss with the harp. Cathy

CATHY-good luck with the harp. My CAMAC levers are supposedly super easy to regulate. I bought the tools but this harp is new and I think it needs it's first "well baby" checkup so I'm taking it to the tech this month and I'll go over how to use the tools. I love her, she's at Somerset every year and in Brooklyn. hope the heater keeps up BARB-yes, water exercise is hard. you have the water as resistance. I have been going to acupuncture for probably 10 yrs now. for hot flashes. I found a terrific person here and go once a month religiously for hot flashes. and general well-being. He's great and addresses anything. he was a help when I fell too. AND he's the person who gave me the name of the PTist who sent me to Hosp for Sp. surgery so he really saved the day! And when he opened a new office they had a Chinese dragon dance thing at the opening and that was neat! DUTCH-glad you are better. Good luck at the appt tomorrow BETH-well, sorry the day didn't go the way you had hoped. But hoping the surgery does the trick and you feel better.
waving to LIBBY and AMY and ATF. Have a good day.

Hi all,
Tracking food pretty well, each day is getting easier then the last. Had a really great practice ride on Lukas today, putting my lessons learned to use. Kept Lukas' mind occupied and he did not spook once. My legs are still sore so I did some no stirrup work but probably not as much as I should.the barn. My main trainer does ride but my winter trainer does not ride anymore. He is in his late 60's and had shoulder replacement surgery and a heart bypass last year. He was very competitive back in the day and a horsemen all of his life. Tons of knowledge and other people at the barn will often ask him questions when he is out. He is well known in the area and had his own show barn for a very long time. That is where I started riding as an adult about 6 years ago. He sold his large place and now trains out of other peoples barns.
Today I Did a step class at the gym that also included hand weights. It is not a super hard class but got me moving and with my muscles being sore it was enough.
Beth- surgery is scary but will be very much worth it for the cure. Good idea to have DH with you at the appointment, better then trying to relay all the information later.
Dutch- hope the hand keep improving every day.
Faye- How did you find the acupuncturist? I have thought about trying it before but how do you know the person know what they are doing?
Libby-how are you and DH feeling? I hope the trip was fun.
Cathy- I hope you can get the adjustments done on the harp. Do most players have tool sets or are you being adventurous?
Did not get as much housework done as I wanted but amazingly enough it will still all be there where I get to it. LOL

Good morning Thursday AMY-your trainer sounds great. I found my acupuncturist through a friend. He's marvelous, teaches in the city and lectures all over. I got lucky. If you are interested I can ask next time how to find someone in your city. I think there is a website or training he said to look into. LIBBY-how was the trip? How's the Kitchen? How's Dakota (is that the service dog that was left home? can't remember) BETH-sorry you need surgery on the knee but hope it does the trick and you have relief. Does your Bible class start up again soon? CATHY-happy practicing. still impressed you regulated the harp.
An article came out in the local paper of the town I played at the library. I'm on the front page with a huge photo that is stunning. I emailed the paper to see if I can have the photo (I would love to buy the rights to it and use it). and the article was wonderful. I was really happy. I posted on FB but even then you can only see part of the front page because you need to register to read on line. I also emailed to see if I could get the paper, we looked last night but we only found last week's in one store, need to see where they sell it.
here is an excerpt: It started with "The heavenly sounds of an authentic Celtic harp filled the air..." and later "..many of them saying they felt they were at the scene of a Charles Dickens tale."---
busy day, my Kabbalah class starts again, then hair cut and massage late in the day. Waving to all. HAGD

Morning - trotting thru on my way to Upreach - Faye - I saw the post on FB about the article - Woo Hoo! You are famous! And talented! Yes I am a bit sore from yesterday's water class - and yes we did ride - just the walk trail -Penny had one tiny buck going up a small incline (not even a hill!) and then Skip spooked coming out of the woods -onto the icy main path-Penny then decided that it looked like fun -but we were deeper in the woods so I turned her into some brush & she settles - Dee stuck it out -and got Skip's brain back -I hopped off Penny & walked her home on the road (we were done at that point anyway!)
Waving to all -more late - HAGD

Good morning. Nothing new here. Just more house cleaning and laundry.
Faye-that's great about the newspaper article. Bible study starts back on the 11th.
Barb-yeah icy road conditions are not fun to ride on. Have fun at Upreach.
Amy-glad you got to the gym. Sounds like you have a gem of a trainer to help you.
Cathy-did you finish adjusting the harp?
Dutch-how's the hand? How is Ally handling the snow?
