Good morning - Lynn, you guessed it. My early flight was cancelled and I'm now leaving at 11. The leg from Atlanta to DC keeps changing. The woman I was traveling with got bumped completely and now has to drive to Jacksonville to fly out of there. The later flight allowed me a few more hours to sleep and time to do a small load of laundry.
I'll check in later or tomorrow.

Good morning from COLD TN everyone! It's 10* here with the wind chill factor making it feel like 1*. Not our typical weather scenario for sure.
Sorry I haven't been posting much lately, but things have been pretty busy around here. The pain in my leg just isn't improving, so I had an MRI and it did turn out that it is coming from my lower back with a disc impinging on a long nerve (not the sciatic nerve this time) that goes all the day down the side of my leg, crosses over to the front, down my calf into my ankle. Yesterday I got a spinal injection, and I'm hoping for relief. The pain is still here, but I don't think quite so intense so maybe it will be gone in a couple of days. If not, the doctor ordered 3 spinal injections. Those are certainly no fun, but if they will just get rid of this constant pain they are well worth it. We had ice/snow yesterday morning, and of course I had to have a driver anyway in order to get the injection, so DH took me but on the way back home a young, inexperienced driver got into a problem causing us to also have an accident. No one was hurt, so all is well, but my poor car is much the worst for it.
Now for my BIG news! We have signed the final paperwork on the assisted living for my mom and dad. My mom is improving faster than thought originally, and rehab has notified me they plan to release her on the 12th rather than the end of the month. Everything just seems to have fallen into place for us at the right time. I found a lovely place only 2 miles from us that can meet all their 24/7 needs. My mom is actually happy about the move, and my dad is pleased as well. An apartment had just been vacated, and so they are painting, putting in new carpet, etc. and will have it ready for us to make the move on time. Everyone there seems very nice. My dad got to tour the facility, and the social worker has been here to visit with him, and also went to rehab to visit with my mom. So as things stand now, we will move their furniture on Wednesday the 11th. My dad will sleep there that night as their bed will be there. On Thursday morning the 12th we will go pick up my mom from rehab, and move her directly there. This is such a big step for us all, but it is time as DH and I just can't continue to meet their 24/7 needs. I will still visit daily, arrange all appointments and take them for dr visits, manage all their financial affairs, but I will no longer have the 24/7 responsibility. It's going to be a big adjustment for them, and really for us all. But I think this is the right thing.
Have a lovely day everyone, and stay warm!

Good morning all and safe travels Maryenne,
We did venture out for dinner last night and after having been in the house for two days it felt really good. We even ran a couple of errands afterwards. I did spend 45 minutes on the phone with Disney Resorts getting our "magic bands" ordered. For some reason their website wouldn't let me order them. They are used to unlock your room door, entrance to the parks, food charges, virtually everything. They use radio frequency technology.
I made blueberry muffins for breakfast and I am enjoying a muffin with coffee and watching the Food Network. Later this morning I want to start our storage closet decluttering project. My wedding gown is stored in there and DH still has his wedding suit.......so we are going to set the camera up on the tripod and take some pictures. We don't know what day we will do it but hopefully on a sunny day next week. I've heard there are places/organizations that will take old wedding dresses and make gowns for infants. Do any of you know anything about it.. I am going to search the web and see if I can find anything. I've also thought about contacting the hospital auxiliary. After we've got some pictures, assuming of course I can even get into the dress, I want to donate it, assuming the fabric is still in good shape. There are a lot of assumptions in those last thoughts. LOL
It is freezing cold here this morning, 0, but t there doesn't appear to be any wind and the sun is shining bright. It is supposed to start warming up tomorrow and be in the low 50's by mid week.
Have a safe, beautiful day!
Peg

Good Morning
Sunny and cold here in Topeka KS. Wind chill minus 1. We had a couple inches of snow during the week so it is pretty outside with the snow and sun. By midweek we will be back in the 30s and 40s for a few days.
Blueberry muffins sound very good this morning. We have a new bakery in town that specializes in Kolache of various types - the typical fruit filled and also make them with meat and savory fillings for lunches. I have not gone there as yet but it is calling my name.
I hope the assisted living works well - I am involved with a lot of folks in assisted living and nursing homes because of my job with an attorney that does elder law and is trustee for many folks. We just had a lady move into assisted a week ago and she is so happy. (she went reluctantly) Is out of her room meeting people and participating in the various activities. Plus, for her, she is getting nutritious meals which she was not doing at home. I know your parents have been taken care of in those respects so they will probably miss your home meals. You will still be involved daily with them and it will give you a breather from time to time too.
Enjoyed a glass of wine and a visit with a couple neighbors after work last night. We try to get together every Friday evening at 6 when I get home. It is a nice ritual and we rarely snack so it works well.
Working on laundry and a bit of cleaning - then out for errands. Maybe an afternoon nap!

Good afternoon all. The snow has returned, we are supposed to get another 8 inches tonight. We ran to the grocery store as we needed produce. The lines were long! Fortunately the managers were efficient in directing customers to the registers. We are in for the duration. The woodstoves are roaring and dinner is planned. Potato leek soup, salad, roast beef, mushrooms and broccoli. Joyce, you are wise to acknowledge that your parents require more hands on care than you can do. This decision will allow you to do more for them in the role of their daughter. Letting others handle the day to day health issues will be very helpful. Prayers and hugs to you and your family. Janice, your Friday ritual sounds delightful! Peg, how are the house plans coming along? Safe travels Maryenne! Esther, how are you making out in Boston with the storm? Have a good day! Lynn
