Over 60 and Still Working/Tuesday

Good morning! It's so cold here in DC! But we're adapting. I'm in all day meetings today and a committee dinner tonight. Tomorrow at 8 am is my last presentation and then I can relax.

Good morning Maryenne and ATF,

Hope you don't go crazy sitting in meetings all day but we all know you will nail your presentation tomorrow morning. Have a great conference!

I did get our storage closet all cleared out yesterday. I have two boxes to weed through yet and DH knows he has 5 1/2 to go through. We will probably make a trip to Goodwill tomorrow and be ready with more trash for Wed.

We are starting to think more about kitchen appliances. It is amazing how much they have changed in just five years. Do any of you have any suggestions?? I am starting to think about a wall unit with microwave/convection unit with built in oven. We need to look a ton more and then find out where our builder will have us go. He allows an appliance allowance which is almost a joke. When we find out where he will send us then we hope to work them to upgrade for a lower price.

Today I need to continue to work on the closet mess and then run some errands this afternoon.

Good morning friends.
Just think Maryenne in a bit over 24 hours you can relax and enjoy the conference! Or skip out for some sightseeing! LOL the last time I was in DC for a class, I was teaching, DH came with me. He had a light of time for sightseeing. He went to the the Vietnam Wall to pay respects to some high school friends that died. He said it was a humbling experience. He went to the Lincoln memorial and to some of the Smithsonian museums. I have been to D.C. three times and made it to the gem and mineral hall at the museum of natural history, Arlington national cemetery and The Ford Theater. I want to go back and see what I missed while I was working!
Peg, the difference in appliances is amazing. I would advise to consider carefully the usefulness of each one, not only the aesthetics. The new appliances are fairly energy efficient. My new dishwasher is, but it takes llomger for the cycles than the older models. How exciting to have all new appliances! How long will it take for the new house to be built?

Esther, how did you make out with the snow? We have a foot!
Janice, do you have any snow? I remember you saying how cold it was.
DH is still sick with the cold. His has traveled to his chest, so he may see the doctor today. The over the counter mess and the usual, lots of fluids, etc have not been very effective.
Today I am tackling the "junk" drawer in the kitchen. Ugh! After that I am heading out to get a new Fitbit. A little treat for myself. Also stopping for a few groceries.

Maryenne - I hope your presentation goes well.

We got around 6" of snow Saturday. I had a scary ride home from services sliding around on the untreated roads in the snowstorm.
My upstairs neighbor shoveled the whole driveway so I wouldn't have to do it. What a nice surprise! I was able to drive right out to services this morning.

We had a triple birthday party here yesterday, DD, DS and DGS all had birthdays last week. I so enjoy having the family around. It was a wonderful day. We got a cake from a local bakery and they had put my name on the top instead of Happy Birthday. Oops. The lady I ordered it from did not speak English very well and we had a total misunderstanding. The kids thought it was a riot and posted pictures online. It tasted good anyway.

I am working on cleaning up paperwork today. I hope to have my office all cleaned up by the end of the day.
