Good morning Maryenne and ATF,
I am moving very slow today. I ended up going to the ER yesterday with my cough and a fever. I think I may be feeling better today but needless to say I am just laying around. They did give me an antibiotic.

Good morning everyone!
Peg, hope you feel better very soon. Do you think you have bronchitis? That can make you feel miserable, and sometimes be very hard to shake. Hope the antibiotic will help quickly.
I haven't been posting regularly lately, but am hoping that will soon change and I'll be back in "normal" mode. My dad seems to be settling in well at the AL, and I am very pleased. Still hopeful that my mom may be able to join him there on Thursday. In addition to her back issues, however, she is fighting a nasty UTI. Saturday they changed her antibiotic, so I'm hoping that will kick in. She is so miserable there at rehab, that emotionally I believe it will be very good for her to get to AL and be with my dad. With the Alzheimer's she is at a level where she knows she is not thinking and remembering clearly, and so that keeps her upset. I believe she will be less upset once she can get settled in with my dad. She thinks the AL is a good plan, but at the same time she worries about the adjustment. Alzheimer's is such a dreadful disease. It steals the very essence of who you are.
Anyway, don't mean to sound like doom and gloom because things are going very well with my dad at AL, and I'm very pleased about that.
Hope each of you has something fun planned for the day! DH and I are going to use our new "freedom" to try out a new restaurant in town for lunch.

Peg, I hope that antibiotic kicks in very soon! Meanwhile, are you taking anything OTC?
Joyce, so glad to hear from you and that your Dad is settling in. Those UTIs are hard on us. My urologist stopped giving me Cipro and prescribe a new something - Neuro something - and it doesn't have the side effects of Cipro. Of course, you didn't say what your Mom is on, but I hope she gets better soon so that she can move. Enjoy your lunch with DH!
We're having a good day. The dump-truck man just brought our third load of rock to fill the sinkhole. I hope that does it, because it has cost us over $500 already. Homeowners Insurance won't cover it because it's too far from the house.
I finally have all my DC sweaters and jackets clean and hung up/folded. I won't need them here because it will be in the 70's for the next week. But I'm going back to DC on 1/31 so I'll need some of them again.

Good evening friends. Peg, I hope your antibiotics kick in soon and that you are feeling better soon. Joyce, thank you for the update on your parents. I hope you enjoyed your lunch with DH today. Maryenne, a sinkhole in your yard! How scary! I am glad that it wasn't close to the house. If I lived closer I would send rocks. We have more than we need in Rhode Island ! We had a fairly uneventful day. A trip to the gym, unloading two more boxes of books. A visit with DGD to work out the logistics of selling her a car. Tonight we are going to DS's for a while. Enjoy your evening. Lynn

Good evening to all had good intentions for exercise today, but did not follow through because it was so cold (20's). I am too old for winter. I am starting to understand why some people go south for the winter.
Joyce - I am glad your father is adjusting well to the assisted living. I hope your mother can join him soon. She is really having a tough time.
Peg - Get well soon.
Maryenne - good luck with the sinkhole. What a bizarre happening.
Have a good night

Good Evening
Joyce, so glad that you Dad is adjusting well and hope your Mom can join him soon. Those UTIs are so nasty and add to confusion greatly.
Peg - hope the antibiotic kicks in and you feel well soon.
Hmmm - that is a lot of rocks!
Despite dire warnings of ice we escaped in Topeka. Many areas of the state were hard hit but it warmed up enough that our moisture didn't stay frozen. It has been very gloomy and dark though and continually misting or raining. But we will take that over ice.
Have a good evening.
