Hi all,
I am anxious to hear from our walkers today......Maryenne and Esther.....sure hope you check in later.
My dr appt yesterday afternoon as good. They did a chest x-ray and it was negative so no infection. She switched out the antibiotic and I am feeling better this morning. I am sooo ready!!
Our Kuerig that we have had for about 10 years died so hopefully I will feel like getting out with DH this afternoon to get a new one. We need a toaster too so hopefully we can look for that too.
The sun is finally shining today. Joyce, I know you have said it helps your spirits and I totally agree. A totally blue ski would be wonderful too but beggars can't be .....
Wishing everyone a great day!
Peg

Glad you are feeling better Peg. It's still gray and cloudy but warm here today. Hoping our walkers stay safe and are energized by the walk today. I made a batch of Unstuffed Cabbage Soup for the cookbook club Monday night. I made a batch for us, too. Yummy and low points for 1 1/2 cup serving. We are going out for dinner tonight to a favorite seafood restaurant. I am hoping the have Mahi Mahi for a special tony. I try to order either a new good or one I am not likely to cook at home. Off to a mani-Pedi this morning. Have a great day. Lynn

Good morning all. I have sadly decided to not participate in the march today. The organizers - Planned Parenthood - decided late yesterday to move the location so now the march go to the middle of a university instead of the capitol building. Many people are angry and are saying they will go to the Capitol anyway. It's become a huge fight. I now wish I had gone to DC instead.
Peg, glad you are feeling better!
Lynn, we have mahi-mahi at least once a week at home. Our grocery store - Publix - sells frozen filets which bake up quite nicely. I am leery of fresh fish because so often it's not really fresh.
I hope you all have a nice Saturday - I'm looking forward to crocheting and movie-watching.

Good morning everyone!
Maryenne, that's disappointing about your march today. I hope Esther's will go better.
Peg, so glad you got a good doctor's report yesterday.
Lynn, the cabbage soup as well as the mahi mahi both sound good.
Well, so far things are not going well with the AL transition for my mom. Had to take her to the ER by ambulance early yesterday as she was in severe pain with her back. She has had pain ever since the surgery, but not this severe. I was afraid she had broken something else, as she is at high risk for that and the pain seems to have started when she tried to use the rail and pull herself to get up from a flat position lying in bed. At rehab she had a hospital bed, but in AL they have their own regular bed, and we have rails installed on it to help them pull themselves up. She is very weak because she hasn't eaten anything other than to drink Ensure since this whole ordeal started before Christmas. Anyway, fortunately x-rays did not show any additional fracture and did show that the khyphoplasty is holding strong. Not sure why all the pain. They bumped up her pain meds, and yesterday afternoon she rested pretty comfortably. She had a difficult night, however, and was hurting she said "all over" this morning. She wouldn't eat anything, but did take pain med and antibiotic. Now she is very nauseated and throwing up. I got her to try to eat one cracker, but she threw that up. The nurse at AL gave her something for nausea, even though she is really not supposed to since there was no Dr order for it. I called her Dr's office, and the on call NP is calling in a nausea prescription for her. Just not sure what to think or where to turn. I believe if we can get her easy and eating to build up strength things will start to smooth out, but right now I am at my wits' end. We are to follow-up with the pain management doctor and also her GP. After the surgery the doctor told me that for some people it works right away and in a day or two no more pain. I knew not to expect that for an 85 year old. Some people it takes several weeks to several months, and then no pain. But, for some people there will always be pain that just has to be managed. I worry she may be going to fall into this last category. I worry about everything. But, I know I am doing everything I possibly can, and yet I worry.

Of course you worry, Joyce. I'm unclear as to whether she went to AL or is back in the hospital?

Good Morning
Sorry about the plan change for the March. Hope Esther's march goes well.
Joyce - sorry that your mom is having so much difficulty. I had a similar procedure - vertebroplasty - in fact, I had eight vertebrae repaired in a four month span of time. The recovery was not easy - although I know others that have easy recoveries. I started having muscle spasms in the back that were terrible. And I got three inches shorter in that time frame. So I have great sympathy for your Mom (and you). Hope things get better soon.
After a foggy start, we now have sunshine so that is a nice change. Will be in the 50s.
The cabbage soup sounds good. I have not figured out what to cook today. I rarely fix fish. I do buy frozen on the rare occasion I buy it.
Have a nice afternoon.
