Good morning all,
We lost our power Sunday late Sunday and finally got it back late last night. I stayed home from work and caught up on reading.
Esther, so proud that you were able to go to the march!
Hope everyone has a good day - I'm off to work.

Good morning friends, Maryenne, sorry to hear about the lost power. Do you have a generator? We have one since we live a little off the beaten track and when we lose power we are one of the last ones to get it restored. We are in our second day of rain and fairly high winds. It looks like things will be cleared up by Thursday. Our cookbook club meeting was fun last night. Our book was Skinnytaste. I made the Unstuffed Cabbage Soup. Next month our book is Lidia's Italian Table. I have seen her PBS show but have never tried any of her recipes. I am leaning toward a lentil salad. It is quick to cook and I will be getting home from a long weekend away the day of the next meeting. I will make it a couple of times before then. Today is WW meeting and then a few errands. Tonight is card league. Wishing everyone a wonderful Tuesday. Lynn

Good Morning
Wow, Esther - I think my body would have collapsed with the crowds and length of day! Great you were able to go - I believe my friend from Cambridge was there - have to give her a call and see how she did.
Lynn - hope you get the old Kuerig going or a better new one! A good cup of coffee is an important thing!
We have had an usual amount of fog - from my ninth floor office I could not see the street and it has been that way several times in the past week. Today is to be sunny and very windy.
Today is visit with primary care and a mammogram - so I took the day off work. Need to return some bras to the store - between shoes and bras, I have an awful time getting something that works well. These bras were professionally fitted and I only wore one of them the other two go back. Also going to have a mani/pedi this afternoon. That will pretty well take care of the day.
Hope you all have a nice day.
Janice

Hi all,
Esther, I think it was awesome that you could participate in the march.
Lynn, your cookbook group sounds like a lot of fun. Do you each buy the cookbook or find recipes on line? There is a cooking store here that offers classes periodically but it seems like I always have a conflict. I would love to take a couple of classes just for fun. Wine and Canvas classes are big in our area right now. For about $35 you go for a couple of hours, and enjoy some wine while you are guided through a painting. All paint supplies are provided with the $. A friend and I have been wanting to do that but again it seems like one of us always has a conflict.
Janice, forgive me but I don't remember what company you work for?? Yes, my DH did get the coffee pot working again, saving us the $$ for a new one right now.
Maryenne, I wondered if you got hit by any of the bad storms over the weekend. Glad your power is back on. Have you switched bosses yet?? Is it any better??
Joyce, how are you and yours doing?? Is your mom getting any stronger??
As for me, my cold is improving but very slowly. I did do a little baking yesterday, a lite cherry crumble pie bar. We both really enjoy it and I've cut it down so it only makes a 6x6 pan, perfect for the two of us. I think I am going to try a new banana bread recipe today and I will finally cook dinner tonight as my strength is finally returning. We are really looking forward to going to DD's the first weekend of Feb. and then we go to FL for two weeks on Valentine's Day. I will need a ton more endurance before we spend some time in Disney World.
Another cloudy day in IN, temps really drop later. Remember to make the sun shine on your world!

Good morning everyone!
Esther, I also am so glad you were able to participate in the march!
Yesterday was a bad day here. It started off with my getting my second spinal injection (this one was not nearly as painful as the frist). They used a different steroid this time, and while I still have pain this morning I'm hopeful this one will do the trick. I had intended to spend the day resting after the injection, but that was not to be. Spent the afternoon at the pain management clinic with my mom. She is still having a lot of pain. Long story short, it is as I feared. She will likely still have some healing, but they expect she is going to fall into the segment of people after a kyphoplasty who will always have pain. So the goal is to manage the pain in order to give her back some quality of life. They gave her a different prescription and instructions, and so hoping for the best. As you can imagine, the pain meds don't combine well with the Alzheimer's; but, there's no other option. If we can just find a way to keep the pain better controlled, they are going to be quite happy and content in the AL. Thankfully, the people there are all really good to them and are trying to be very helpful. Just talked with my dad, and my mom is still in bed. She doesn't want to try to move because of the pain. Life can sometimes be so cruel.

Good morning all
I am going back to the gym today, the first time since Saturday. I have been resting, but now I need to get moving again. Joyce, I am sorry the news about your mom is not better. It is so hard to see her suffering. Peg, I hope you are feeling better.
