Good morning all!
It has turned a little cooler today (for us) but just enough to feel very nice. Pollen season is here - everything is covered with yellow dust. But it rained during the night, so perhaps a lot of it washed off the cars and out of the air.
DH is leaving today for Miami for his 50th high school reunion. He's pretty excited. He'll spend tonight in Orlando with his sister and then drive the rest of the way tomorrow. I encouraged him to stay as long as he wants to, because he has friends he wants to visit with, but I suspect he'll be back Monday if not sooner.
I'm having dinner with my best friend from the doctoral program and our dissertation advisor. The Good Doctors, I call them. She is teaching in Raleigh at NC State, and he is professor emeritus now.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!
Maryenne

Just dropping by to wave hello. Thanks for the well wishes for my dad. He was better when I left the hospital yesterday evening, and I think we have dodged the bullet again. The heart doctor thinks the penumonia was placing strain on his heart, and they are keeping a nitro patch on him, but thinks that overall while we do know he has congestive heart failure that his heart is pretty stable since the last heart attack in November. I am trying to get to the hospital early this morning in hopes of talking with the kidney doctor. The antibiotics seem to be working on the pneumonia, and it is only in the left lung rather than in both.
We did make it without my mom having a melt down yesterday, but her Alzheimer's is definitely progressing much faster than we'd like to see. Nothing that can be done about that. Stress and tiredness both increase the symptoms as well. DH brought her up to visit yesterday and then came back to get her. We'll do that again today.
Waving to everyone, and wishing you a good day!

Home again, home again, jiggity jig!
We totally enjoyed our trip but sleeping in my own bed felt really good last night. We did just enough unpacking last night that I have the laundry stacks ready and the first load is going. I drove all 611 miles yesterday and surprisingly had energy left. Driving through the cold front wasn't too bad at all. Traffic slowed way down just once during a downpour but it was short lived. I figure it helped as we got through it before lunch and the front had less time to brew under the sun.
Our new home construction manager called to tell us that they have stacked our house so we drove by to see what we could see in the dark last night.....super exciting.....and we are meeting with him Friday morning. Foundation materials have been delivered. We will be selecting the front door then too.
Joyce, hope your mom and dad can get past this new bump in the road. Life can be wonderful and cruel all at the same time.
Lynn, do you have a favorite wine?? Do you prefer white or red??
Esther, I need to go back and read yesterday's posts, but were you able to get ahold of your dr??
Maryenne, it sounds like you will have a fun dinner tonight. Enjoy!
Janice, ready for wine sipping tomorrow evening??
I do have a question for everyone.....do you all have cast iron skillets?? I have never had one and sometimes wonder if I have missed out on a lot?
Happy Thursday! You are all in my thoughts. Peg

Good morning friends! Peg, generally I prefer red wine but our sommelier friend has opened my eyes to a wide variety of wines. I am more adventurous and pickier than I have ever been. Our neighborhood pub, where I decorate the display window, has pretty generic blah wine so I don't order it there. I have cast iron skillets. Love them! Especially for searing meat and finishing it in the oven. Maryenne, I hope your DH has a good time at his class reunion. The three docs dinner sounds like fun. Joyce, sending virtual sunshine to you. I am glad your father is holding his own and that your mother is handling things as well as can be expected. Waving to Janice and Esther and anyone I may have missed. Off to see DGD for a deep conditioning treatment and bang trim. We see Lion King tonight, looking forward to it! Have a great day. Lynn

Peg, I rarely use my cast-iron skillets. I find them too heavy and hard to clean.
