Good morning all,
The mindfulness meditation class was very nice last night, although the instructor was a half-hour late. I'm glad I waited though. With just two students, she was able to give us very one-on-one attention which was great. She gave us a sampling of techniques to focus on breathing and quiet the mind.
Nothing else to report really - another light day today at work and we'll have salmon for dinner. As I mentioned yesterday, DH is driving his friend to Gainesville this morning - DH made smoothies for them to take on the road. Not sure what time they'll get back, so not sure about the salmon.
Lynn, have a safe trip back home. Esther, hope you got your day back in order yesterday. Joyce, did you get your AC fixed? We already are in the season where we need it. Early morning is ok, except for the humidity. Peg, sounds like you've got your work cut out for you this week. Be sure to take a moment here and there to breathe. Hearty hellos to Joan and Janice, too.

Good morning all. We will be heading to Fort Lauderdale in a couple of hours. We will have lunch with friends before going to Daytona Beach for the night. We have had a great visit with DSiL and her husband. We have a couple of quick visits to see friends on the east coast of FL before heading to New England. Enjoy the salmon Maryenne. I love fish, salmon is one of my favorites. Have a wonderful day! Lynn

Good morning everyone!
Well painters are to be here tomorrow morning around 8:30 so I have to finish up the prep work today. DH isn't helping much, he said he needs boxes and we kind of got into it briefly. Basically he was upset with himself as he wasn't able to fix the door frame he had been working on. I am hauling a lot of stuff upstairs so I can box and work on staging the free rooms over the next three days. We hope to put the house on the market a week from today or tomorrow. The electrical walk through on the new house is Thursday.
Today our usual group is meeting for lunch and I want to do some throw rug and towel shopping but that will depend on how much time I might have. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
Lynn, hope you enjoy the rest of your trip. We've been to Amelia Island a couple of times and it is really nice. Enjoy!
Joyce, glad your parents have had some good days and that your car air conditioning got fixed. It is still too cool in IN to need it.
Esther, you are an amazing lady. Your love of music is very special. How old is your therapy dog? How is your pain doing?
Janice, what do you do for pure fun??
Maryenne, my DH loves salmon. For me it is OK. My favorite fish is shrimp. In fact I thing we will have some tonight....sounds really good, thanks for the idea.
Well ladies, I've rambled too long. Wishing everyone an awesome day!
Peg

Good morning friends
Our temps are in the 30s today. We are expecting cold rain this afternoon. I plan to take Bonita the dog down to the river for a walk while it is still dry. Today I need to practice for our contra dance band. We have a bunch of tunes from Quebec to learn for the New England Folk Festival next month. I am also working on a piece on the treble flute for our Renaissance flute group.
I am looking for things to help me cope with my pain and lameness. There are two that are currently helping me. One is "what you have other people pray for ". It gives me a new perspective.
The other is from a program about dealing with chronic illness. One thing it emphasized was self care. I need to do everything I can to help myself. For me this means doing my stretches and exercises regularly and walking with the dog every day.
Wishing everyone a good day!

Good morning everyone! As usual it sounds like you are all busy and enjoying life. Esther so sorry your pain continues. I did get the AC fixed in my car and while it was at the shop had them do some other things that it was time for such as changing spark plugs, oil change, etc. So now I am ready for summer. My mom and dad continue to do well or as well as I could hope. I can tell a real difference with my mom from having the amount of pain medication cut in half, and adding on the second depression pill. I just hope this will last for awhile, because she seems much more like "my mom", and is showing some interest in things around her. One of the hardest things for me in this Alzheimer's journey is not knowing what to expect and feeling so out of control. The AL facility where they are also has a memory care unit on site, although my mom is not ready to need that at this point I don't think especially as long as she has my dad with her. The facility is offering a series of 4 weekly classes starting on the 30th for family members of those suffering with the disease. I have signed up for the classes. Not sure what to expect from them, but I am hoping that anything I learn will be helpful and that if I am lucky it will help me to learn to let go more and not always feel so responsible for trying to "fix" the unfixable. On the 18th they are also offering something called "The Dementia" experience, and I have signed up for that too. From what I understand it is a unit that will be there parked on site for the day where you go in and for a short time you are immersed in what it is like to have dementia and not understand what is happening around you. Sounds somewhat scary to contemplate, but something I am going to try and do to learn more. Have a great day!
