Dgd and I played with Lucy yesterday instead of going to see Rosie. She needed the attention. The arena was too wet to ride. Lucy is the stall kicker, she hasn't done it in a really long time Of course, I have electric tape in her stall and the last time she kicked that tape down and was freaked out. I guess that's what it took-knock on wood! I'll have a lesson on Rosie tonight if she isn't off on her R hind, it was pretty subtle, Heidi said she runs a lot in the field and may have pulled something. Vet is coming at the end of this month. Saturday we are going to do the horse switch. DH wants Heidi to get all her tack and stuff out of our place. I'm going to have to come up with a different plan for the horses in the winter while I'm in AZ and for a week in the summer when we always take off. HAGD everyone!

HI all - Cathy - glad you were able to swim -sorry about the cramps -but at least you are doing something! Libby - loved the picture on FB- are you still planning on bringing Rosie home this weekend? Amy- have a great show -Faye- does the weather effect your harps (heat etc?) have fun at the show tomorrow. Dutch - how is DS doing? Beth- so jealous of your planting this early - although DH did buy me a new rosemary plant today!
Had a hair cut (actually many!) cleaned the barn -groomed Penny right out in the field -more to get the mud off but lots of hair came off too! Tomorrow is last session of upreach for this session -then 2 weeks off -supposed to rain so probably no ride -but will ride this weekend!
Dog park annual meeting tonight -may go to hear what they are going to do about the grass -they apparently planted 1/2 of the front almost 2 years ago -it is fenced off so the grass can "take" - they spent $8000 (!) on it -and are thinking of doing the other half -to be honest I think that is the stupidest thing to do -once the dogs get on it it will be toast -I would rather they spend money cleaning up the wooded area of all the winter debris!

BARB-i'm with you on the dog park and grass and $$. yes, humidity especially affects the harps. so we have a humidifier and dehumidifier and a humidistat to measure the humidity (they like 50%). strings can pop especially change of season. and extreme heat or cold is not good for the wood etc. and you NEVER leave it in a hot car. New style or regular haircut? CATHY-sorry about the cramp. were you hydrated enough? glad cat seems to be ok. fingers crossed it was a one time incident LIBBY-glad you got to play with Lucy, loved the photo. hope you can have a lesson on Rosie. BETH- hope your "crop" grows well. DUTCH-hope everyone is doing ok. AMY--good luck this weekend!!!
waving to all. HAGD.

Hi,all! Faye, we aren't as humid as back east but I do notice the heat and cold will flat or sharp the strings. We had a cold spell a couple of weeks ago and I was tuning every day...bleh. You said you have a show on Monday...what kind? I don't know about the cramps...it's also a symptom of hypothyroidism, so it could be that. Barb, I wish I still liked short hair...wore it a long time but would like to grow it out; it does not agree. Hope you get to ride this weekend! It does seem silly to spend that much $$ on grass... Libby, is this new, that DH is getting involved in what you do with the horses and tack and stuff? It seems new. I hope Rosie is OK for your lesson tonight, and yes, electric tape WOULD have a bit of zip to it if you touched it...nice to find a solution for Lucy Hi to Beth, Amy and Dutch! I did walk yesterday, and ended up taking a nap. The early mornings caught up with me! Slept until 7 this morning so back on my regular schedule (it helped that the cat was hungry!). Will swim today. What's everyone doing for Earth Day tomorrow? I'm hiking with friends on Sunday, going to see wildflowers (need to check the battery on my good camera, will take pictures and maybe get something to paint). Cathy

Cathy; the hike sounds wonderful! DH gets involved when he thinks about it lol, He is the one who wanted Lucy-so she is officially his horse. I'm not stupid enough to tell him no, he can't have a horse! now every time he mentions the expense, I say, well your the one who bought Lucy! Also, he knows how skinny Rosie gets in the spring every year and hearing that Heidi was out of hay worried him! Barb; I look too much like my mom with short hair! lol I've seen pictures of you on FB and you look lovely! Rosie did well at the lesson last night, no lameness at all Faye; Scottish harp playing? sounds nice! Beth; it is finally getting warm here - suppose to be 70 today Wave to Dutch and Amy! HAGD

LIBBY-I play a couple of Scottish tunes but not sure what you meant by Scottish harp playing. CATHY-another background in the same Sr. community i was at last week, this time background for the volunteer's brunch. so 11:30-12:30 which is nice. Glad you are back to your regular schedule. BARB- i forget, are you going to Vegas? i think you are going on vacation in about a week. have the trails dried out or are you getting our rain?? gloomy and gray here but I put down that grass seed so not complaining! DUTCH-how is everyone feeling? AMY-lots of luck this weekend at the show. did you braid Luka's mane? has it trained over to the correct side, I know you were working on that.
BETH-hope your seeds are germinating. I planted some Jasmine seeds in a pot and put it outside. we'll see what happens.

Good afternoon. Yesterday I was monogramming towels for two upcoming weddings. I get no money for these gifts as one is for a bridal shower for our choir director at church this Sunday and DH's DB is getting married (for the 4th time) on May 6th.
This morning DH had an eye appt to check his pressures. The dr confirmed he has begining glaucoma in the right eye. She is continuing to watch the LT eye. He's been given some kind of drops to use everyday.
Tomorrow I will probably plant the tomatoes and peppers into the bales. My squashes and cucumbers are only about and inch high and not ready to transplant yet. The pole bean seeds haven't germinated yet. I don't know if they will or not. If no then I will go back to my rattlesnake pole bean seeds and try to germinate those.

My computer kept freezing the other day so I could only read.
Practice ride went well this morning. Then Lukas got a bath and I cleaned my tack. I have to finish packing up the car with my show clothes. I am nervous and excited at the same time. I am looking forward to getting the first show over with, my nerves are always the worst at the first one on a new horse. Lukas' mane is on the right and he is all trimmed up. No braiding thank goodness I don't think he would stand well for it.
Still have to polish my boots.

Hi, all! Faye, glad you liked the show! Never seen Bette Midler in a show, but then again, haven't been to one in a while. Barb, bummer about the rain but glad you'll be able to get in a ride. I've only been to Vegas once...I think it might have been enough Beth, have fun planting. Sorry about DH's eye, are the drops helping at all to control the advance? Libby, funny about DH and Lucy. I didn't realize that Rosie drops weight in the spring...or just didn't remember. Glad you had a good lesson on her and lameness is gone. Hi to Dutch and Amy, who I hope did well in her show yesterday! Just did errands, shopping and cleaning yesterday, hike today. The woman who set is up got a call last night that her youngest DD was in hospital (she's at Berkeley). Hope to know more soon, but the rest of us will hike anyway. I also got a call from the insurance and they have apparently cut a check for the mold remediation guys for around $2k. I haven't heard if I'm supposed to pay anything as the promised email has not shown up yet. No big surprise there. I will call her tomorrow. I went to a "block party" at the microbrewery we go to regularly, who was hosting for a new real estate office. One free beer, one free taco and that was dinner But also caught up with a guy that was in my watercolor class. he apparently has brain cancer and has been through chemo and radiation (his hair was quite short, which was what I noticed and mentioned, then got the whole story). Very sad because it's the kind that has no cure. His doctor's told him 15 months. Pretty horrific. Cathy

BARB-good luck with the 2 shops. what hotel in Vegas. when I graduated 6th grade we went and stayed at the Flamingo and I saw Don Rickles do a show. (just made the age minimum). Saw Hello Dolly with Carol Channing in the 70s. cute show,. it's really the production and acting that makes it and this was really well done. Midler is 71 years old, gotta hand it to her. Curious how tired she'll be by November when it ends. in June she does 2 less shows a week . CATHY-sad about the gentelman in the water color class. guess you never know what someone is dealing with. HOpe the 2k is enough to get the mold taken care of. Have you heard about the person's DD that is in the hospital. hope you had a nice walk. AMY-how'd it go??
waving to Dutch, Beth, and Libby and ATF. show tomorrow in the AM for a brunch. hope it doesn't rain.

Did get a ride - in hind sight I should have lunged her first - since i hadn't been on her since last Tuesday -1st we saw 3 deer up ahead on the trail - she looked and jigged. then we ran into our neighbor who i knew had gone out as she passed us on the road as I was cleaning -she has the friesan stallion who Penny loves (!) and he of course has to prance for her -they were coming off a side trail -so she backed up while we went by -more jigging (!) on the back trail where around a corner we run into a man & his dog -didnt' see them till we were almost on top of them -Penny did a sidestep "spook". She really wanted to canter/gallop the parts of the trail that we can but I held her mostly to trot -because I am in charge (maybe?) But she was really a good girl!
I saw Bette Midler in concert once -she was great -
Cathy - will the 2K take care of what was done or are you going to have to try to get more? Libby - did you bring Rosie home?
Off to take tundra to the trails for a walk & DH clear some brush for me! TTFN

Hi horse lovers, Not going to bring Rosie home till tomorrow. After my lesson on her Thursday, I watched Heidi work her wild horse, Maximus for a bit. If you ask me he's dangerous, so flighty of everything. You can't even walk up to him and pet him w/o him spooking. Anyways, I left and she was still doing ground work (she hasn't been on him yet) apparently he freaked out on her and kicked her above the knee. She said she has been down for a few days and hoped to be better by Monday. She wanted to be there when we do the switch. Glad she didn't get hurt worse! I worry about her - she always takes on "problem" horses. The newest horse at the barn is lunging at people when they clean his stall. Yikes, I'm all for my quiet older horses! Barb; sounds like you had a spring day on the trail! Faye; I've been to very few plays-it sounds like fun! Cathy; Glad the insurance guy finally came thru Dutch; how are you? Amy; can't wait to she how the first show went Beth; nice gifts! Yesterday got the last skylight in right before the rain! The electrical got done, I now have lights in the kitchen, got the drawer pulls, yet now can't find the right size screws, will have to order them on Monday and they will take a few days..... Have some of my stuff unloaded. Still have plastic on the walls, ceiling of the dining area. It's cold in here this morning! HAGD everyone

LIBBY-so you need to get the screws but how much more after that do you have to do? sorry it's cold. Sounds scary about Heidi and Maximus-sounds like an accident waiting to happen. Be safe BARB-glad Penny was such a trooper.
there was an interesting segment of 60 min about Timber racing. Something about this Saturday being the Maryland cup? looked sort of like eventing. I missed the beginning so I missed the explanation. out in the country jumping fences, but a race. never heard of it before. Looked interesting. anyone know what I'm talking about?? HAGE
