AMY-congrats to DD1 so glad things are going her way, she had a rough spell and about time it turned. hope she gets to sell the dress. I hope to go to Quebec on day. does your DD2 speak French?
BETH-hope you enjoyed the dinner from your side of the family
LIBBY-that is cold . glad some rooms are warm. I would bring Rosie home. geez, no hay, are they kidding? --was that a video of Rosie on FB? was Heidi showing you Rosie was ok?? DUTCH-hope you had a nice holiday. does DS like the Easter bunny or do an egg hunt?

Good Morning -Faye - you are our rock! Glad you are almost back to "before" -your story & Judy's is why I am SO careful. DH helping me take down the strips on the shed this morning -even though it's supposed to rain some this week -it's time -The water is still seeping up though the mats from the run down of the water -we have not put shavings in the shed in almost 2 weeks -it does make cleaning somewhat easier -(just sweep up the poops) but not as "clean looking" -hope once it finally all dries out we can put them back again -next pasture project is just cleaning up all the poops & hay we have put out over the winter -the grass is starting to come up -we are lucky there is not a lot of "lush" grass (to be honest - pasture is over grazed -in a perfect world they would be moved & this pasture would rest) so there is not a colic risk -just enough to keep them busy!
Libby - hope the hole gets covered up so that it warms up for you -and that you get Rosie home ok
Amy -how is the office staff hunt going? Is there like a central registry you can go to or just cold advertising?
Beth-glad you got the order done - I think you said you were not doing shows this year?
Cathy- is the pool you swim at at a club, or just a local community pool? How far from your house? Have fun today
Dutch -I think you said everyone is finally healthy at your house? HOpe everything else is smoothing out.
I THINK (!) I am finally getting past this cough thing -slept thru the night (ok -I did take nyquil & cought medicine w/codeine!) but getting there~

Hi All,
DH and I are going to go look at some patio furniture. Some of our old chairs are too far gone after many years. I will ride later on.
DH is not looking for another Dentist right now. He has other things he wants to get done first. Our current associate dentist will work until the end of May and then my husband will just be seeing a lot more patients for a while until he is ready. Most of the "looking" is done through networking.
Barb- I am so sorry about your friends sudden loss of her horse. Unfortunately I know that pain too well. Glad the cough ordeal is coming to an end for you.
Beth- glad the Easter celebration turned out better then expected.
Libby- One bale of hay for how many horses? You will be glad to have your Rosie where you can keep an eye on her.
Dutch- what's up?
Faye- It seems like your determination is paying off with the yoga poses and I am sure the balance will get better also.
Cathy- good news about the harp teacher.
Going shopping now!
TTYL Amy

DUTCH-hope you had a nice holiday. does DS like the Easter bunny or do an egg hunt? Had a small egg hunt at grandparents. We're not big on Easter, usually at least color eggs, but just didn't this year. DS thought it was ok (candy was great, but mad we wouldn't let him eat it all right before dinner - and then he chose to not eat dinner, so ya, no candy then either.) We're mean like that. Dutch -I think you said everyone is finally healthy at your house? Hope everything else is smoothing out. Well, I thought so! DS had a cough last week... still today, but otherwise seems fine. My throat was really sore/swollen yesterday, so I went to bed early and feel better - but super tired! Weird! I THINK (!) I am finally getting past this cough thing -slept thru the night (ok -I did take nyquil & cought medicine w/codeine!) but getting there~ Fingers crossed you're on the upswing!! Hoping everyone had a nice Easter!

Hi, all! Faye, glad the yoga is going well! Barb, wow...I would like a little more heat, but we are still getting rain. I think I'm kind of over it. Glad you had a good night's sleep. Sorry about your friend's horse...wasn't that the one you were going to watch her ride? Libby, so cute of Rosie, lying in the pasture. If you feel she's OK, then go with your gut. You know Heidi better. Dutch, sorry about feeling poorly again. I remember being a kid and wanting to eat just candy for dinner...I guess things have not changed Amy, have fun shopping for patio furniture. I need a patio first Beth, how are the cozies doing? I really don't like getting up early. I used to be able to do it, not anymore. I have 3 more days of this...sigh. May swim today but it's ugly out, not that it would stop me but just tired of the rain I guess. The pool will probabaly be quiet and the water level high Barb, it's at the local gym, takes me about 5 mins to get there. Cathy

CATHY-hope you get to swim. I forget, it's outdoors? will the podiatrist make orthotics for you? DUTCH-hope you feel better. the weather is so weird I think everyone feels a bit off. BARB-hope the coughing continues to disappear! LIBBY-hope you got chores done. Rosie is adorable. loved the video, which it were closer up. AMY-good luck patio furniture shopping .
so I ordered some soil to fill in where the snow plow guys pushed away the grass . well, 2 CU yrds is much more than I thought. Had to dump the bag on the driveway. and I got 2 of them. Actually I think it will be just what I need but I didn't expect it to be so heavy. the clean up people are here now and mowed so tomorrow I'll do the soil and the grass seed which should work because it's supposed to rain later in the week.
had to get a new cable for the amp/harp. so ran errands and now home
doing better with tracking so feeling better. Waving to all. HAGD

Good afternoon. it was raining a little while ago. May get some more later on. I'm thankful for the rain as I don't have to water the hay bales today.
Barb-I don't blame you for not putting shavings down on the wet ground/mats.
Faye-glad the yoga poses are getting easier to do.
Amy-hope you find the patio furniture you like.
Libby-sometimes we need a "lay on my hiney" day.
Dutch-hope your throat gets better.
Cathy-glad you will be able to have personal harp lessons again soon.

Hi All, well patio furniture shopping is frustrating. Almost everything comes in sets and we don't want the whole set. Really we just want some nice chairs that swivel and rock but they all come with dining tables or matching sofa and coffee table. The chairs that are sold separately are just basic chairs. We will look on line but it would have been nice to try before we buy.
I have two of Lukas's blankets washed and have 2 more to go. I just wash them myself with a hose and diluted laundry detergent. They don't come out perfect but he is just going to roll in them the first time he has them on so it is good enough. I will leave his light sheet at the barn until May because I don't trust April weather in PA, he probably won't need it.
Have to run to work.

Good Morning- Amy - like you -I also wash Penny's blankets - I take them to a laundry mat -have been for years -the woman there knows me -the first year I brought them in she looked at them and said that it would be fine - I explained to her how in the "old" days blankets had fabric lining that held the hairs -but now they are pretty much a slick material so hair doesn't collect (as much) I also brush my blankets whenever they get muddy -I can fit 2 medium & 1 sheet in one big washer & then the heavy & other sheet in the other -i use commercial blanket wash. Then I hang them on my fence at home & waterproof them - i used camping waterproofing spray I get at WalMart -one can ($4.95?) will do a little over 2 blankets. Once they dry they get put in plastic bags till next year!
Suddenly realized my Vegas trip is 2 weeks away -guess I will have to start looking at warm weather clothes!
Cooler here today -only maybe 50 - but will ride this morning -went out yesterday w/Skip & Dee -we had a nice ride -today will be alone -then DH & I going shopping - he needs new sneakers (do they still call them that?) and maybe a few shirts for summer. he likes me to go with him!
Heard from Judy that she walked up her steps at home -first time since Nov! Such a long haul (at least when we here do something - it's done right -right Faye? ) Faye - do you know where Warren NJ is? there is a glass shop that does classes that I'm hoping to take one sometime this summer
Libby- what's going on w/ Rosie? How's the kitchen coming?

Good morning. I've got squash and cucumbers sprouting in the peat cups. I'll be planting them in the bales in about a week. The pole beans haven't sprouted yet. Whenever I go into town this week I'll get some tomato and pepper plants.

It's raining like crazy here today. will be playing catch up today. Need to get off the sugar! So many sweets around for Easter, candy, pie, cookies....I'm struggling with it. I made my honey, almond butter, protein pwdr, no bake balls to try and curve the craving. I talked to dh about bringing Rosie home this weekend. The barn is about 20 mins away and I'm having a hard time getting there. HAGD everyone!

BARB-Warren is under 45 min from me.(if you email an address I'd have a better idea) so let me know if you take a class. Not sure what the comment about Judy meant, but it is a long haul physically and mentally even longer. Our barn had a washer dryer. I took my saddle pads to a laundrymat that actually allowed blankets but it's sort of horse country around that area. BETH-sounds like a nice garden. AMY-sorry about the patio furniture. I just wanted a few pyrex containers and had to buy a set so one piece is very big. nothing comes the way you want it somehow. hope you find what you want. YOur show must be coming up soon , this weekend or next??? LIBBY-how's the weather and temp in the house? are the windows and skylights in? DUTCH-hope your throat is better. CATHY-any more playdates scheduled? how's the cat? still doing ok on the antibiotics? i hope so. hope you swam and hope the early mornings are over soon.
went to a park to see the cherry blossoms. nice but not as nice as i was expecting. there were a lot, but not some many in a row so i was hoping for a see of pink but just spotty areas of pink. nice day out though for a walk. off to water my grass seed and the bulbs HAGD

Hi, all! Faye, you're not going to move around the soil yourself are you? I made the mistake of moving the box spring off the bed this weekend, forgot how heavy it was. Thank goodness the neighbors were gone because it made a lot of noise falling Be careful! Barb, check the weather in Vegas. I know it's 'warmer' but it's been pretty cool lately. Myabe by the time you leave it will be nice! Beth, yay for cukes and squash! You are having an early spring. Even though we had daffodils a few weeks ago, I don't think the weather has been consistent enough for planting. Libby, I got this app - LoseIt - a friend suggested it. I did upgrade (kind of $) so that it lets me put in what I SHOULD be limited to versus what I'm actually eating. Because my cholesterol and glucose seem to be going up, I'm tracking fat and sugar. Fat is a problem, bigger than I thought. It hides in processed breads so trying to weed those out. Amy, sorry about the patio furniture fiasco. I do see lots of nice things in catalogs, but as you say, it's nice to try something out before you buy it. Good luck! I think I used to hand wash the heavy blankets, hose on high for the exterior and brushing out the interior, but that was a long time ago. Light sheets went into the washer (mom said make sure you do an extra rinse afterwards . No swimming yesterday, I honestly wasn't feeling it. Busy, and too cold and rainy, all day. I actually cranked up the heat a bit, don't know if that's an early morning thing or not. Today I'm getting the orthotics, at least casted. Not sure how long it takes to actually receive them after casting. Cathy Cathy

CATHY-good luck with the orthotics. I did move the dirt myself, only had to drag it a few feet. dumping it was something. but it's all done and remaining dirt is in the bag in the garage. will wait till the water sprinkler is started end of next month to see what needs to be filled in. supposed to rain tomorrow night and Sunday so wanted to get it done. I'm fine. Had wt. training tonight. HOpe you are ok after trying to turn the mattress. I just had to drag the dirt but flipping a mattress is a whole other story. Had a buzz with the harp. Called VA harp center and they diagnosed it over the phone, seems the wire from the amp to the harp has a little metal cover that screws at the end and it can get loose. then if a string has the right frequency it will set it vibrating.. so mystery solved and don't need to bring it to the tech. Thank goodness.
HAGD everyone.

Hi, I switched about a year ago from using more traditional saddle pads to baby pads so they easily go in the washer and I have a stack of them so I can use a clean pad for each ride and they don't get that dirty. They are kind of like "liners" for those of you not familiar with them. They are thin and go on his back first then I top it with a lambs wool half pad and then the saddle. This way the wool half pad stays clean because you shouldn't wash them.
My show is this Saturday! yikes! I am always nervous at the first show on a new horse but I am feeling ready enough. I really hope it goes well and I will be able to move up a division before too long. Lukas can do it, so it's me that needs the confidence building.
Cathy- I hope the new orthotics work well for you. I had some made and I had to build up the amount of time I could wear them until I could wear them all day. Then I wore them for about a year and they really changed my feet for the better. I also did foot exercises that helped.
Faye - I love pink trees too! Hope the grass comes in well. I planted grass once but over planted the seeds so it came in pretty but then choked from being overcrowded. It was a very small area so I switched to sod. I try, but don't always succeed.
Libby- I too need to get back off the sugar! Easter did me in. If you are used to having Rosie home it would be nice to have her back. I would love to be closer to Lukas. It takes me 20 min. or longer to get to him so I can't see him every day. I wish I could. I think if I had him at my house I would spend too much time with him LOL. I guess you get used to it.
Beth- your garden plans sound great. What are pole beans? I hear about them but not sure I have eaten them. I am the only one in my family that eats tomatoes but I keep thinking I should grow some in a pot anyway. Any suggestions on a variety that tastes good?
Barb- how many years do you get out of your blankets? I might check into that waterproofing spray, I think the medium weight one could use it.
Hi to Dutch! what are you up to with Ally these days?

(preens) lol Ugh to cleaning blankets. I cannot take them to the local laundry mat. I know there are some services here at stables, I need to check that out. I'm not putting them in my brand new washer, I know that much!

BETH-when does your first "crop" usually come in? and no, no one wants a buzzy harp ("buzz" actually is a harp term and there are workshops on tracking them down! Hi- Amy- I have very good luck w/ blankets - I have one heavy that is at least 9 years old - that is my last resort one as even w/waterproofing the water kind of pools & freezes in the liner -but it is good for just cold -no wet. My 2 medium ones (i swap when one gets wet) so far I have had one for 5years the other for 3 - both still in very good condition -lucky for me Penny (and Aaron before her) are not hard on them. One sheet is about 6 years old the other about 3 -again I swap out when wet. The waterproofing spray really works well - i respray them every year after washing. All in all between 2 wsher loads & 2 cans of spray I do the 3 blankets & 2 sheets for about $15!
Good luck at the show -you both will do fine -just remember to breathe!
The new place is another "artist" shop in a neighboring town -the woman has 2 other shops in other towns -you pay for a spot (a small one 3 x 2- so not a lot I can put on) but it's relatively inexpensive & they take 10% for processing etc. I figured I would give it a try for 2 months - nothing ventured....etc.... the other "pop up" shop so far nothing has sold -but I am in a "glass case" so maybe people are afraid to ask to see anything. I signed on for one more month -moving to a better spot -eye level -open "cage area" ( the shop is an old pet store!) and bigger - so I will have about 2 weeks to decide if I stay any longer -if nothing sells I guess i'll pull out.
Had a nice quiet ride this morning- Penny really does not want to fall -or else she is taking really good care of me - while we were cantering she stumbled a bit -but pulled herself up and kept going. Yea Penny!

trotting thru; lunged rosie yesterday and pulled a pillow full of hair off of her. She is on the slim side and looked stiff on her R hind at a trot. Will ride today and see if she is still stiff. Talked to Heidi about switching horse back on Saturday. She wants her barn helper (the one that didn't lease Rosie) to work with Rhoku more. Rhoku put his back leg up for a warning kick at my dd's mastiff yesterday when I turned him out. The neighbor dogs have been harassing him thru the fence, now I think he has a bad feeling for dogs. I corrected him and he didn't kick, thankfully.

Hi, all! Faye, wow, figuring out a buzz over the phone...awesome! I had one in the C below middle but it appears to have resolved on it's own. I told my teacher that I got sweaty yesterday working on all the things she's trying to change about my style...it's a lot of work breaking old habits and starting new ones. Guess that's why we're all here as that applies to eating as well Barb, have fun at the bris! Glad Penny kept you both safe! And hope the new pop up shop is better. Beth, all I know are "green beans" so not sure if those are bush or pole beans Amy, I tried some heirloom tomatoes once. I liked those more than regular tomatoes but they didn't grow very big (I'm not good at keeping up with gardens). Good luck this weekend...I bet you'll do WONDERFUL!!! Libby, maybe it would be better to have Rosie at home. Was it Lucy or Rosie who kicked early mornings? Is that still going on or does Lucy get along OK with Rhoku? Hope Rosie's limp resolves! Dutch, glad you got to spend some time with Ally So orthotics take about 3 weeks. I've had them before but stopped wearing my old ones as they didn't seem to help the current issue. Of course, all the OLD issues started reappearing so getting new orthotics is probably smart. Sound asleep when the alarm went off; 3rd day of training is starting to take a toll. But the cat let me sleep all night instead of waking me up...for something. She had a HUGE barf session this morning, but I'm hoping it's just a one-off. She's been doing well on the new antibx. Swimming today for sure! And if it's not too busy, I can stay as long as I want since I will have finished my day by then. One of the positive aspects to starting work at 6am Cathy

CATHY-how many more early mornings for you? do you think the new habits are helping? have a good swim. hope the orthotics help and hope the cat is feeling better. so the one that buzzed for me was the C below Middle C also. had that once before , that frequency must set the world to vibrating because that one always seems to be the issue. When the tech had it it set off something in her apt. Rule 1 of buzz, move the harp, it may be setting off something in the room. Rule 2, check any loose joints (the legs, the chairs legs, and in my case , the amp cord) BARB-glad you had a nice ride. hope the new pop up does well for you. and hope the other stuff starts to sell. traffic and neighborhood i guess makes the difference?? LIBBY-hope Rosie is ok. DUTCH-glad you groomed Ally and had some fun time. AMY-wishing you good luck this weekend at the show. Was DD in Quebec for fun or business? BETH-do you do flowers too or just veggies?
good harp lesson then had acupuncture. last gig on Monday (background)

Hi, all...everyone must be busy! No posts this morning! I did get to the pool yesterday, sunny for the first time in a while, but cool breeze. Since my day was pretty much done, I swam for 45 minutes and had a lane to myself. Very nice, except for the foot cramps Cat didn't throw up this morning so must have been a single occurrence. This morning was the last early morning so back to regular schedule tomorrow. Hope to walk today. Cathy
