What’s on your mind — how to make kugel? This week’s Torah reading? Life goals? Prayer? We are all engaged in weight loss/weight maintenance journeys and we are all Jewish or at least interested in Judaism. We like to eat, we like to discuss. It is our goal here to provide each other support on our journeys, to share experiences, to call on our rich cultural heritage and texts, and to help each other grow spiritually.
Some of us take weekly turns starting the thread:

And for those of you that stop by to read this thread without posting - you are welcome to do that but you are also welcome to chime in

Boker Tov All! It's a brand-new day - I almost need sunglasses to look at the computer screen! When we got home from the surgery center yesterday afternoon (rush hour traffic, it took 2 hours) I could not see well enough to come here - but this morning the world is bright, and almost clear!
Frieda - how wonderful! I am so happy for you, and so pumped that you are doing this!
Today I would like to talk about how our bodies react when we do something to them. Specifically - I know that after my eye surgeries, anytime I allow myself to get overly tired, or if I am in an accident - I freeze. (not deer-in-the-headlights, shiver-can't-get-warm) Yesterday, coming home, it was 65 degrees out, John was wearing short sleeves, had his window cracked open a little - it was a beautiful day - and I sat there with my sweatshirt on & the heat blowing on me, LOL! It always surprises me when my body decides to do this - I often have no warning that it is coming.
So - today my "field of vision" on the L side is still a little wonky. It fairly vibrates - I'm thinking from all the stuff dripped into it yesterday afternoon. But - whites are whiter, brights are brighter, and colors are a whole new experience! I don't mind wearing a sweatshirt!
Have a wonderful day, ladies! Shabbat Shalom!

I spend a lot of time in front of the computer, sometimes in front of the TV, and sometimes in front of the computer at my chiropractor's office. My back is paying the price. My chiropractor adjust me every week and has given me three exercises to do. Two of them have 8 repetitions three times, one has 10 repetitions four times for a few days (now), then five times for a few days, then six times. I'll ask him next week if six was the max he wanted, but I won't be at six by the time I see him on Wednesday...
When I don't get enough sleep for several days in a row, I get chancre sores around my mouth (I'm told it's from stress, so apparently, while lack of sleep on any given day is a royal pain for me, it turns out that it takes a physical toll on my body).
Other than those two, I can't think of anything else...

My Other Eye
The world looks brighter today and now my glasses no longer work except for reading.
I suppose in time after my eyes have a chance to heal to become what they really will be I will need new glasses Right now, the old ones will have to suffice I will be peering over the tops of them (and suddenly, I understand all the little old ladies in my past, who looked at me over the tops of their glasses pushed down on their noses!)
My Left field-of-vision still shimmers a little no doubt from the many drops dripped into it yesterday and then, of course, that mini scalpel, other instruments the pokings around, that had me reminding myself to breath while Adele sang "Hello" over the sound system (did I hear myself whimper at one or two breaths? it IS my eye-ball, after all!)
Today is a bright, bright, sunshiny day! and we are heading to the surgeon's office for post-op visit.
My computer screen is almost too bright too look at without sunglasses and the sunshine coming through my windows makes me want to sing!
So much of the aging process is loss. Family, friends, pets who die, leaving us behind But THIS - this is pure enjoyment! Reading and looking, and gawking at colors! while Adele sings "Hello" over the sound system!

MEDICAL HISTORY: Patient presents with the following symptoms and complaints.
My body gets upset and irritated when I'm too tired or too hungry. When I'm both too tired and too hungry at the same time, I become enraged and my lips form words that are highly flammable and caustic. When I'm tired, hungry and deprived of foods I crave, I become destructive. It primarily affects my right hand which will aim a slap at any random passerby. I also suffer from constant tics, in the form of rolling eyeballs, curled lips, snorting nostrils, dismissive palm and fingers waves, and shrugging shoulders.
PLAN: 1. Keep patient always fed. (3 meals plus 2 snacks is recommended.) 2. Use nutrient dense foods. 3. High water intake. 4. Restful sleep is imperative. 5. When any symptoms present, remove patient from other humans and isolate until calm.
