Hi All,
Faye- that show sounds awesome! Bette and David are two really great stars. My best friend growing up (in MD) rode in Timber races! It is different from eventing in that the fences are big but more natural no wood ducks or skinny’s they also all race together so you have the “jockeying” for position and jumping fences together and close behind etc.
Barb- hope the sales pick up for you. Enjoy Vegas and the Circq Michael Jackson show!
Cathy- does it make you wonder if they have a side deal with the mold removal company and that is why they wait. Conspiracy theory. HA! So sad about your watercolor classmate.
Libby- I hope Rosie is back home soon. I am not fond of dangerous horses either but am glad someone can give them a home. Some people love a huge challenge.
Beth- hope your gardening projects are doing well. My bird house is still empty. I might move it to a better location.
Hi Dutch! Hope you are doing well.

SHOW: The first show day I was so nervous as expected. I knew I need to just get through it so I did. It was also cold and raining off and on all day. My first two rounds of jumping were OK as in I didn’t fall off or forget the course but I rode pretty badly and my nervousness was rubbing off on Lukas. By the third round of jumping I got my head a little more straight and got second out of 14 so I was pretty happy with that. I got 6th in the flat portion. Made a mistake right in front of the judge!
Day 2 and I was happy that I was feeling much more “normal”. The weather was beautiful I had my head in the game and rode much better and was able to process tips from my trainer. There was 9 horses in the division and all were there the day before too. I “chipped” the jump coming out of a diagonal line on the first trip but the rest of it was good. The next 2 rounds over fences and the flat round went really well and Lukas was much more calm because I was riding correctly. We got a second in the first round and all the rest we got first. So I came home with the division Champion ribbon. So, yes, it was a good day! The division was “modified hunter” fences are 2’3”. I jump bigger at home but it is all about the ride between the fences. Lead changes and getting good take off spots. Eventually I want to move up a division but don’t want to rush it.
I was leaving early and coming home late both days so did not get on line all weekend. We traveled back an fourth and did not stay at the show.
Next show is probably this Saturday at a different venue.

BARB-thanks for starting AMY-sounds wonderful. Congrats. have to go look at FB for the photos. Thanks for the info on timbering LIBBY-hope you have no trouble getting Rosie home
dressed and harp packed. Seems there was a change in the room the event will be in so now I have no idea of the space or carpet (which is a big consideration in harping). leaving soon. rain tonight and the next few days. kind of cold
waving to all.

Great job Amy! I love how you own your riding. Wet wet wet here. Yesterday we moved he fence, giving Ally a little more room and some more yummy grass. With that, trimmed up the neighbors blackberries on the fence and started the burn pile. DS had fun driving his tractor while dad drive HIS tractor . Now we are all sore! Ha! 😉

Hi, all! Faye, have fun at your event today! Amy, that is awesome! Now that you've completed your first event, hopefully the season will get easier I swear I did a Timber Race before, but I can't be certain. There was a manicured field in the area I used to board and it was a permanent cross-country set up, large logs, etc. We did a "race" and my horse LOVED it...that was her element, she should have been a fox-hunter Barb, Penny is such a good girl...I'm so glad that you found her, you take care of each other! Dutch, wow...you had a busy day...I guess having lots of rain allows the "burn pile" approach to trash. They are illegal in CA. Libby, I didn't realize you were also missing doors, I thought it was just the skylight. I had to buy different screws as well but they had them at the local ACE hardware. You're getting close! Yikes about Heidi...that horse DOES sound like an accident waiting to happen! Beth, where are you? All OK? The woman with the sick college student texted us yesterday and she said her daughter was "shaky, but should be home later today", so that was yesterday. We still don't know what happened; I wanted to call her but figured they'd be all exhausted today. We did have a nice hike, there were a lot of wildflowers but I don't think I got very good pictures. My good camera isn't working so I took my point-and-shoot, which isn't good for close-ups. Oh well, it was still nice to catch up with friends! Supposed to rain today...sigh...when will it be over??!?!? Will try to swim today, then harp lesson late in the afternoon. Cathhy

Busy morning - CONGRATS to Amy & Lukas!!! I didn't even notice the mane thing! Faye - glad your gig went well & they asked you back again -exciting! I saw the 60 minutes thing on the Timber Races -crazy nuts! Dutch - glad Allie likes her new digs -do you have to limit her grass time at the beginning or is it just sparse enough?
Had a nice ride this morning -much quieter than yesterday! We did more cantering (at my cue not hers!) I cleaned up another barrel load of old stuff in the pasture -but they are saying rain again for the next 2 days-as Cathy said -when will it ever end?
Cathy - at least you can get some swimming in in between the rain drops! Libby - that horse sounds like one to stay away from for sure!
Beth- all ok? TTFN

-do you have to limit her grass time at the beginning or is it just sparse enough? It's pretty sparse. Maybe 5 feet wide.... about 400yards long? I'm guessing. And yesterday afternoon, I did not see her there once- so that's ok then. It's on the opposite side she likes to hang out at - that helps!

Hi Again, rain here today too. Trainer told me I should start Galloping Lukas in the lower field. Then she said not really galloping but a very forward canter, opening up his stride. This is to prepare me for the next level of competition so I get used to the speed and bigger step before doing it in the ring. I told her that so far I have only walked Lukas outside but I would move that process along and start trotting. If it is going to be very wet though I will need to wait for the ground to firm up so I don't leave tracks. It is a trust building thing for me. I have to have some idea that I will be able to bring him back before I start moving out on him in an open field. I will be sure to have someone out with me when I start doing this.
The weekend is catching up with me but I think I will be better off with a little coffee, I don't want to nap or I will be up at night.

Hooked up the horse trailer and found a bird nest with very young babies in it on the V of the gooseneck -- I moved the nest to some tall brush nearby and then moved it back when we got home with Rosie. They were still alive (4) bald babies. Don't know what kind. I'm really curious to see if their mom will continue to take care of them. I heard if you disturb a next they won't. I'll check later today. Rosie looks skinny, her ribs are showing, bridle path grown out and muddy-I'm going to spend some time with her today, she was pretty unhappy to leave the other barn, neighing all the way down the hill in the trailer. Then very excited to hear Lucy neighing at her when she got home, she almost ran me over, which is not like her at all! Looked out my new windows this morning, she looks content with her and Lucy's head sticking out their barn doors I'll need to find new barn help now, it feels good to just have the girls here again, it's been 3 years since Diesel was found and brought back over here, for those of you who remember his story (he was supposed to be put down and Heidi found him a little over year later for sale with his tattoo scrapped off). Amy; congrats! Faye; wow, great gig! Cathy; hows kitty? Beth; hope you can get online! Dutch; love that new green grass! I wish I could burn- I've got a huge brush pile! Barb; Penny is such a sweetie, glad you had a good ride My dsil and her husband are driving back to Alaska this morning, will miss them, they have been great company and we've had a lot of fun! HAGD everyone~

Hi, all! Faye, lesson was good, I think she'll be back mid-May so will be nice to have face-to-face lessons for a bit. She said she does think I've improved, so nice to hear Glad you got a repeat request!! Of course, could there be any doubt Amy, yeah, galloping in open ground can be a bit scary/dicey. Take it easy, don't go too much beyond your comfort zone! Libby, sorry your relatives are leaving, glad you've enjoyed having them around! Glad Rosie is back home and she's happy to be there. If I lived close, I'd help out Barb, yeah, the rain can leave as far as I'm concerned. I wish we'd get a bit more in the summer, to clean the air, but we usually only get one storm. Maybe this summer will be different, cuz sure as heck, this winter was different! Hope you get some riding in between the storms! Dutch, what about the other side of the pasture does Ally like? More sunshine (ha!)? Waiting for Beth to return... Didn't really rain, a little sprinking here and there, that was all. Got in the swim and the harp lesson. They I got a request from my mgr to complete this HUGE spreadsheet by the end of today. Of course, the person who requested this work has had it for 2 weeks and waited until the last minute to forward it to us. So guess what I'm doing today Hope to get to the camera repair place today. Talked to him on the phone but he was like, I need to see it first. Bleh. I'm not sure what's supposed to happen with the mold thing. I listened to her voice mail again and she said they have been paid, so I'm assuming they will contact me? Based on previous miscommunications, I guess I shouldn't assume anything Cathy

Hi all,
The spring rain and too tall grass is better then snow but hoping for some sunshine soon.
Faye- thanks for checking on Beth and I am glad all is well.
Libby- I think the skylights sound wonderful. Rosie will be fat and happy before you know it. I have heard of mothers returning to baby birds that have been picked up off the ground and put back in the nest so there is a good chance that momma will return.
Cathy- isn't it nice when teachers notice your improvement. You should probably call the mold removal people, especially since they already have the money. What is their incentive to be timely with the work?
Dutch- Awe, they do love to have friends. It is nice Ally has some company within view.
Riding lesson tomorrow.
I thought I was all set with my show attire but it turns out my navy wool hunt coat is out of fashion. Once I get the coat then I have nothing left to replace! I have been thinking about getting a new one because the new fabrics are cooler and stretch to move with you. It took my trainer suggesting it for me to finally decide it was time to shop. It may take a while to find one, I am not a typical size.
I get to see Lukas tomorrow! YAY

I'm baaacckk! I hate the internet sometimes. I hope this is finally settled and will stay up this time.
Okay, to catch you up... The wedding shower for our choir director went over great and she loved the towels I monogrammed for her. Yesterday I found some spaghetti squash seeds left over from last year and planted some in a peat moss cup. I hope they come up. The stringless pole beans I planted haven't germinated at all so I got some rattlesnake pole beans and planted thoses in the peat moss cups too. Today I started on the 2nd half of the embroidery order. I was able to do 2 towels and 4 umbrellas.
I need to catch up on everyone's posting. I'm sure there is a lot to read.

Good morning. Took my walk this morning. I'm now up to 2 miles at about 3mph speed. I'm not pushing it. It was 57 this morning, Nice and crisp to walk in. I love to listen to the birds. There is a Woodpecker that has been hanging around the area that I hear most every morning.
Looks like just about every cucumber seed I planted came up. I'll have lots of them. I have 6 pepper plants and 3 tomato plants. And lots of different squashes. I'm looking forward tofresh produce this summer.
