Good morning everyone,
DH and I stayed up late watching episodes of Foyle's War. I've seen them all, but it's so well done I don't mind watching again. I have a packed day ahead of me with back to back meetings and an office lunch for our Administrative Assistants. The boss is bringing lasagna and I said I would bring bread. I'm going to run out to a nearby Italian restaurant and pick up garlic bread already cooked. I originally thought I would make it but we have no way to keep it warm.
Hugs to you all for a good and peaceful day!
Maryenne

Hi all,
We enjoyed dinner with our WY friends last night.....always a good time. The gal is 91 and oh so spry. Her son is 62 and years ago was a media helper for my DH. They are just awesome. She used to teach 3rd grade and never knows a stranger.
Well the inspection on the house is back and it isn't as bad as I thought it could be. We are waiting on the air results. We knew we have a couple of issues that will need to be taken care of.....keep your fingers crossed for us.
Today should be a quiet day around here so I hope to go do some shopping. I want a couple of new tops for summer. We are meeting a couple that DH used to work with for dinner tonight. I am making cherry scones for breakfast this morning.....off to the kitchen!
Hope everyone has a great Hump Day,
Peg

Maryenne-Enjoy your lunch and your new office.
Peg - Good luck with the continuing house process.
I am playing flute duets this morning and then doing some tax forms for the senior center. They're assuming that I have nothing to do since I retired. I find that annoying. I need to learn to guard my time. I have lots of exercises and practicing to do every day and they take time. The dog needs to be walked also.
Have a good hump day everyone.

Good morning friends. Maryenne, Warm garlic bread sounds delicious, as does the lasagna. What a nice gesture for the administrative assistants! Peg, It's wonderful to keep in touch with those who paths have crossed ours over the years. Happy top shopping! Esther, I am always taken aback by people who assume that retirees have nothing to do all day. I have been learning to set boundaries and let people know " I can't do that at this time." No excuses offered. My time is my time. I worked for other for over fifty years. Now I work for myself! Of course, there are times that i do offer to help, but I try to make the offer before I am asked.
Tonight we are having a couple of friends over for dinner. Tuna noodle casserole is on the menu, along with carrots, a green salad, garlic bread and mixed berries over lady fingers. Neither of the friends had ever had tuna noodle casserole before. I was amazed because I thought it was a standby comfort dish from back in the day! Enjoy the day! Lynn

Good morning everyone! Maryenne, the lunch sounds very nice. I'm sure the administrative assistants will really appreciate it. So often they get looked over, and yet they are so indispensable. Peg, glad the inspection report came in good for you. You are really on your way now. How exciting! Enjoy your dinner with friends tonight. Lynne, enjoy your dinner with friends as well. Actually, I've only made tuna noodle casserole once, but it was very good so I'm sure your friends will enjoy it. Here in the south we use chicken more often than tuna, but casseroles of any kind are always popular. Esther, I understand your annoyance at the center not recognizing your time factors. It is hard sometimes to learn to say "no", but may be a necessity as you adjust to retirement. As Lynne said, you've earned this time to focus on your wants and needs and don't feel guilty telling people that you have other things to do. I'm taking my mom to the doctor this morning. I can tell she's improving physically, and that helps her emotionally as well--which helps me as well! She still can be pretty negative about things, but there are more and more days where that is better, and I'm grateful for that. It makes her seem more like the mother I know. Then this afternoon I am getting the stitches removed from my leg where I had that small tumor removed last week. So those things combined will make this a pretty full day. Hoping each of you will have a spectacular day!
