Good morning From last night: LIBBY-my knee is better, thanks.. black and blue fading and not as sensitive to the touch. the toe with the torn ligament is a small issue, hurts sometimes and gets tired walking a lot. hope that goes away soon. not a big issue, must annoying. Have fun with DN and Lucy lesson DUTCH-glad DS is better. sometimes it's good to get chores done, I feel accomplished. (guess it depends on the chore) CATHY-so far I like the Fuhrman recipes. But if I don't combine it with WW points I overdo it. I like the Oatmeal "cookies" (takes like cold oatmeal, but it's ok) and the chocolate truffles (made with dates) really like the steel cut oat breakfast-hold me for hours. i add the apple and banana and walnuts and it's about 6 WW smart points so same as my other breakfast. I also made the kale chips and even if they get soggy I like it a lot.! I adapt the other recipes a bit and I do have lean protein, but I find I've been doing much more veggies. So sorry about the Hiker's DD--sad but unfortunately not uncommon. I've known others that that happened to. good luck at the dr. Monday for the finger. did it bother you with the harp concert? BARB-we love Broadway. We saw Hello Dolly and are seeing WarPaint later in the summer. Mostly I go to see certain actors when in a play. Just looked-I only saw Hello Dolly that's nominated for several. DD saw a few others. I generally just do musicals. Would have seen Sally Field but it's a depressing play. I do cheery! although I did see Paul Newman in Our Town when he did it last and it was amazing. I mean, Paul Newman! Also many years ago saw Camelot with Richard Burton and yes, his voice was amazing. Saw YUl Brenner in King and I and Carol Channing in Hello Dolly back in the day. Unfortunately only started saving my Playbills when DD was born so no idea who I saw in other things. Although I think I saw Jane Fonda in Agnes of G-d. But it was Baryishnakov (sp/) in Ballet that was pure joy and like nothing I've seen. boy could he leap. DH used to say my mouth would hang open when he danced. Have a good ride if you go. I'm off to the dentist for a checkup and cleaning. waving to all. HAGE NExT Sunday are the Tony awards

Hi All, Faye-thanks for starting the board. My lesson with winter trainer went well. He pointed out some things that my main trainer doesn't so it is good to have a second eye. He does a lot more flat work before jumping. He also put me over some jump courses and says he thinks I am ready to move up. I do want to move up although it makes me nervous at the same time.
I got more weeding and mulching done this weekend. I am almost done and am down to the areas that are less visible like the side of the house. So my plan of thinking about one section at a time so I don't feel overwhelmed has worked.
I am going to hop aboard the home improvement wagon. The first project is going to be the stairs to the second floor. They are very visible from the front door so the old carpeting is embarrassing. I am going to take out the carpet and paint the risers off white to match our trim and stain the wood steps.
Cathy- I am glad the concert went so well. Dutch- Hope DS is feeling better. Beth- I will have to check out that nest cam. nature is amazing. Barb- Hope you have been able to get some ride time and that your glass art sells. I see your items on FB and I think they should sell well in the right market. I still love the little plate I bought from you. Libby- You have such a great attitude about this kitchen remodel, I don't know if I could handle it so well. Faye- I forgot to say I love your cement animals and gnomes. I have a few cement creatures around my place too.

Hi horse lovers, Cathy, sorry about the young girl, glad they got to her in time! The concert sounded like fun even though you didn't play long Faye; glad the toe isn't giving you too much trouble, you've been to a lot of really great performances! Amy; one project leads to another, beware! lol Barb; glad you got in a long ride!! Dutch; sometimes it's nice just to stay home and get things done. Beth; are you still walking? how is your garden? The lesson/dinner was really fun. My husbands dn came over, she moved to the next town over and is looking for a job. She graduated with an accounting degree last June from University of AK, Fairbanks and has had a job at a firm in Anchorage, yet didn't like it and is looking for a change. Lucy was a total Bu-- yesterday. Not sure what got into her? She was all tacked up and I turn away from her to help Renee with her helmet and Lucy nipped at my shirt! She has never done that before. Me and my John Lyons philosophy, I turned and punched her in the nose. Then after some refresher instructions and walking around with Renee on Lucy, I let her try some walking by herself-I was close by in the arena. Lucy kept trotting off with her and wouldn't stop. Lucy is normally a walk is OK with me type of horse. I got on Rosie and walked around with them, then I got on Lucy and did a little refresher with her. Renee had a great time, I was frustrated with Lucy. Not sure what is going on with her, she did the same thing to dgd last time she rode. Dgd was really frustrated with her. May be it's just spring and she's feeling naughty? HAGD everyone!

Hi, all! Faye, you have seen some lovely performers! Saw Baryshnikov in SF long ago...defied gravity! Have a good day Libby, you and I have the same training method when it comes to horses...a good punch goes a long way. They're so big and can get out of hand so easily. I wonder what she's sensing with dgd? They have that knack Amy, glad the lesson went well with winter teacher. It is nice having another approach provided every now and then, as long as it's not contradictory. Way to go on the garden project! So happy you're still mulching away! Hi to Barb and Beth and Dutch! Yeah, today is the 2nd cortisone shot, probably in my middle finger (and no, I don't use it extensively ). I'm almost wondering if it's the way I hold my iPad mini? Might have to invest in one of those lap pillows that hold small screens. We'll see... Harp lesson moved to tomorrow since I know my finger will go numb. Cathy

DS is a bit better- still gross stuff in nose lol

HI all - Libby - mares can be mares -the JL nose punch -yep -sometimes you have to be tough! Hope it works it's way out!
Faye- glad you are doing better -you do get to see a lot being so close -when we first moved to NH we had subscriptions to the Boston Shubert Theater -we saw Fiddler w/ Zero Mostel (sp?) Tourch Song Triolgy w/ Matthew Brodrick & once -Meryl Streep in a show (can't remember the name), to name a few (that I can remember!) but the tix got very expensive and you could not pick & choose - it was all or nothing - But as I said I like watching the Tonys. So yes, it's raining again -all the mud that had almsot dried up ...now ankle deep again -very depressing - DH & I going to see Baywatch this afternoon -never watched the TV show -but this looks like a good laugh & I actually like the Rock!
May be heading down to FL on Wed for a few -my DF (going to be 98 in August - still driving ) slipped/fell? in the parking lot of Target yesterday - they took him to ER -did tests other than being very sore & bruised (and he won't take anything for the pain! ) he was ok from that but they saw what might be a mass on his thyroid -so he is going to his doctor later today -DS taking them -& DB & DSIL were there yesterday (she works at the hospital they took him to so it went a bit smoother) but depending on what the doctor says today -I may go down just to give DS (and DM) some support & help -
Amy - glad the lesson went well -you are lucky to have 2 trianers so you can get the best from both -if he thinks you are ready to move up -go for it -
Waving to Cathy -Beth -Dutch -
Stay dry -ride if you can - HAGD - CBL

BARB-hope DF is ok. how is DM dealing with it? glad you have DSIL at the hospital. Wow Zero Mostel in Fiddler, that is wonderful and DD has seen Broderick in stuff but Meryl Streep must have been something. Sorry about the mud. CATHY-hope the shot helps. Yes, he defied gravity, that's a good way to put it. feel better. AMY-good luck with the stairs. will it be harder on the feet if no carpet on it? will you get a runner ? I was afraid not to carpet my stairs. I walk in socks a lot and was afraid also I'd slip. good luck with it. DUTCH-glad DS is better. sounds like you've been busy! LIBBY-wonder what's with Lucy? glad DN had a good time. BETH-hope you had a good weekend. any plans for the week? how's the garden? and Coco and the cats (sounds like a Saturday morning cartoon ) waving to all. all fine at dentist and going back tomorrow for teeth whitening. not zoom, something else I can't remember the name--20 min with a gel and the lights (AMY- any idea what I mean) anyway. I'll report back after it's done HAGD

Hi all,
Faye- there is more then one of that type of in office whitening. I have very sensitive teeth so I can't do that type. I have to use the take home trays if I want to lighten. Hope you get great results!
Barb- Enjoy the movie. I like the Rock too !
Dutch- wow! that is some upper level yard work. It is nice when things have a bonus like being a good workout when you want one.
Beth- how is the bird cam watching?
I am starting the stair project today and it has already led to "the walls need a coat of paint too". ha ha. walls will be same color so just a POD job. (paint over dirt). We are either going to do carpet treads or a runner that goes down the center and shows wood on the side. I want something dark and with a pattern so show less wear. Decision to be made once we see how this all turns out. Since the steps had wall to wall carpet there will be staple holes to fill. I saw on HGTV that you fill them after staining with a matching putty that they sell. If you use wood filler and then stain over top the wood filler comes up darker and therefore shows. So some TV watching pays off.
Had a very nice practice ride yesterday but no time to ride today. Breakfast is over so it's time to try and take the carpet off. Wish me luck!
HAGD Amy Cathy- I hope the treatment works well on your finger. The lap desk might be a good thing to try.
Libby- maybe Lucy doesn't like beginners? Maybe they are nervous and they make her worry that something must be wrong? Hard to tell really. I have a friend who has a nice advanced horse that gives her advanced students a run for their money but put a small girl on him and he is so gentile and watches out for them. As soon as the girl gets bigger all bets are off and she can't ride him any more. It's sweet and funny at the same time.

Hi everyone I think I'll ride Lucy today and may be give Rosie a bath. Lucy was definitely trying to tell me something, too bad I can't figure out what? Renee, who was riding her on Sunday, wanted to go around the property, I told her we were going to stay in the arena until I know for sure she could stop her (which she couldn't), I told her that she wouldn't like me or the horse very much if we got out there in the field and the horse took off with her. I went bowling with dgd's yesterday, it was fun - had an upset stomach kind of day, so didn't do much. I still need to do a last coat of paint in the pantry/laundry room. Today the floor guy is measuring for an estimate. DD just got here, I'll cbl

Hi all - DF is ok -for now -nothing on thyroid-just very sore & cut up - they are having social worker come in 2x a week to change bandages. DM is holding up ok -they have all agreed DF should not be driving -but not telling him just yet as he won't drive for a while due to fall - the issue is DM gave up driving over a year ago (afraid? ) so if he stops they are land locked other than friends -DS & DB -I have looked into Jewish Family Services for an aide who can drive them and they are finally agreeing to talk w/ them. So no trip now -(DS said it's all ok for now) but I'm guessing sometime in the future.
Baywatch was so funny -very tongue in cheek -didn't take themselves seriously -loved it. If you want a good laugh -go (Not a spoiler but warning if anyone is kind of"prim & proper" -there is a scene with a penis -but done very tastefully! )
Amy - yes, once you start on something -it just keeps growing -have fun.
Faye -how are all your aches & pains - hope you are feeling better.
Dutch - sorry about DS -these colds just keep on hanging on -hope he feels better soon as well
Libby - sounds like Lucy needs an attitude adjustment! Sometimes mares are just "mares"!
Cathy - finger better? too much computer/painting?
Beth- DH do any school stuff over the summer? How's the hay garden coming?
Off to Panera's for lunch w/DH -(we are spending way too much together time due to the weather! LOL)

Hi, all!
Faye, I've done both types of whitening and I agree with Amy, I like the trays and stuff you take home. The whitener with the light really bothered my TMJ...and don't you have that? Good luck, either way your teeth will look amazing! Barb, so sorry about DF. It's tough as they get older; I'm going to hate the day my dad (82) has to stop driving. They both do, but mom just drives locally; Dad drove to LA for niece's graduation. And this is the man complaining about peripheral neuropathy in his feet!! Glad you liked the movie (do enjoy Rock, as well). Have a nice lunch! Libby, yeah, getting run away with isn't much fun...unless you have a big hill you can head towards. So if the flooring for everywhere or was this what you were trying to match? Did you pick out countertops? Dutch, I had to look up the type of "tree" you removed...that looks like messy, dirty work! But yeah, imagine the WW activity points! I guess if DS's snot is clear, you're OK. Hope he gets better soon! Yeah, Beth, what are you up to? Is everything OK? Amy, the stair thing is something I wanted to try as well, paint the risers white-ish...it looks more formal. Mine are light wood laminate, not my choice came with the TH. I don't have carpet on mine either (yes, Faye, I'm careful when just in socks but I tend to wear slippers with rubber soles) but thought it would be a nice touch except I have no wall to wall carpet anywhere. Thought it would look funky. Have fun!! Post pix when you're done so we can see it!
Yeah, the finger hurts a bit, it takes a week for the cortisone to have an impact. Will try my lesson today, maybe take some Aleve at lunch (did that before the concert Friday). Hope to swim today, too!
Funny...I was about to leave for my appointment and got 4 phone calls from the mold remediation company...apparently, they are the same group that does the dry wall replacement. Wonder why it took so long? So someone is coming over tomorrow to review the original estimate to see if there's any difference.

BARB-where Hasselhoff in the movie? Glad DF is ok. my toe and knee are much better today, thanks DUTCH-hope son feels better LIBBY-glad you enjoyed bowling. hope it works out with the floor guy AMY-I think it's sinsational smile. 20 min. not a big difference but looks nice and was easy, and a pen to take home to do for a week or so and then touch ups. Pity though, i had blueberries and raspberries and now can't eat them for at least 24 hrs! good luck with the carpet, don't overdo or hurt yourself. BETH-did the other osprey hatch? Good evening. I just had a good laugh at myself. Yesterday I kept hitting "bookmark" and just kept getting the same page over and over. When I finally paid attention to the date in the title I realized we started a new thread on Monday. Duh! Coco and the cats (sounds like a Saturday morning cartoon ) Yeah there was a cartoon called Josie and the Pussycats. Coco has adjusted very well but still wants to chase the cats. The hay bales garden is starting to really grow as we have had so much rain lately. My morning walks are spotty due to rain. DH has a class he's training until the 16th. Then all the trainees get tested by the state. cams.allaboutbirds.org/channel/27/Hellgate_Ospreys/ Sad news today on the nest. One of the chicks died. There are still 2 more eggs to hatch. They should be hatching soon. I keep this website up almost all day long. DH likes to watch it because of the trains that go by.

HI All, I always underestimate how long it will take me to do a project. It took me all day to get the carpet, padding and scary carpet holder strips off the steps. The treads have lots of holes and old staples from prior carpet installations so keeping them bare is not an option. I think that with sanding and staining I can make the edges look good enough for a runner to hide the problems down the center. The treads are actually nice hardwood and should stain well.
I have my riding lesson this morning so that will be a welcome break. The plan for today is sanding and getting some painting done. I am also painting the banisters they are all dark wood so I am doing the poles in the same off white color as the trim and the stair risers will be. I am leaving the railing dark wood. This I know will take a while. I have to prime them first. We have a top floor railing that goes around the entire stairwell so many little poles to paint. I should count them .......30.
Have to go get ready for my lesson.

Hi, all! Faye, finger is adjusting. Takes about a week for the cortisone to really work; did it when I did so that I wouldn't have to take Aleve during the music camp. Lesson was good..still working on Southwind. I think she wants to use this at camp, plus something else. Will have a lesson next week then will be gone to camp next weekend. Beth, I bet Coco is kind of happy in his new environment...he's getting more consistent care, which most animals like Sorry about the one chick...these things happen. Hope the others do OK. Barb, good luck on the riding...if not today, then at least tomorrow! Amy, that's is how it goes...underestimating the time commitment to a project Sounds like you're really making headway though. Have a fun lesson! Hi to Libby and Dutch! Got in a swim yesterday...pool was busy but weather is nice right now so not unexpected. Supposed to rain tomorrow???!? Guy coming over to review the garage work, then I hope to go for a walk. Cathy

Hi All,
Had a good lesson yesterday. It was all about "moving up" out of the corners to a jump. Keeping or increasing pace in the corner so I come out strong with enough horse to settle back if I need to shorten the stride or keep the pace If I am "on it" to the take off spot. What I was doing was coming out of the corner and then deciding about 3 strides out if I needed to move up (increase stride) to the jump which is really too late to be deciding. Adjustability is easier with more horse going into it.
More sanding and prep work yesterday. Some more to do today but I am hoping to crack open a can of paint soon.
Beth- I started watching the osprey cam this morning. At first I just saw momma sleeping but now she is feeding 2 babies! Does Dad show up to help? It is great that Coco is fitting in with your family so well.
Faye- anymore issues with the knee? Hope not! Glad you had a good harp lesson.
Cathy- hope your finger is doing better for camp. Happy you have some nice swimming weather.
Barb- We have been getting a lot of rain too. I am happier with the temperatures in the 70's, I tend to run hot. Glad you are expecting sun though so things can dry out and you can get to enjoy more riding.
Hi to Dutch!

Good morning - Faye - glad you had a good lesson - same for Amy! Sounds like you (Amy) are making strides (no pun intended) with Lukas and ready for the next show!
My temple sisterhood is having it's semi-annual rummage sale this weekend -today is drop off -DH "helped" me go through stuff to donate -I am letting go of a lot of plates etc that I have collected over the years (not my glass) but have not touched/used in just as many -unfortunately it doesn't make a dent in the "stuff" we have -but its a start!
Having lunch w/ DDIL who is in town for business (she is an elite lacrosse team coach) they have a tournament about 2 hours from here so she came in early to see her folks & always makes time for me as well.

BARB-wow a lacrosse coach. that's interesting. my daughter did lacrosse one year. fun sport to watch. have fun AMY-I love hearing about your lessons, I don't ride anymore but I did what you are doing (maybe not quite as high a jump) and I can picture doing the course with your descriptions. Makes sense about coming out of the corner strong and then adjusting the stride length. knee and toe seem fine so happy about that, thanks. CATHY-harp camp? are you going somewhere ? to that event in CA? hope the shot will help your finger. Made a few things from Eat to Live book and like it a lot. I do figure out the points and track or I go way over. I need limits (or else my serving size is the package LOL).
waving to all. Just doing stuff around the house today because tomorrow I have Pilates and an opthalmology checkup(new doc so will take longer) and then yoga so resting up today

Hi horse lovers, Its raining here this morning. Crew is coming in an hour to put up last two cabinets (Yeah) and crown molding. I think I may have found a plank floor to match the old flooring. I'm going to buy a case of two different ones to put a few out and see what it looks like, I can return them Waited for the sink to arrive yesterday, had to delay the countertop measuring as sink was a day late and it has to be here for undermount measurement. It showed up at 8:30 last night! The guy doing the measuring said he might be able to do it today or tomorrow. I did find a faucet that is touch free - I love it! I think I love it, we'll she once it's installed lol - DH and I are planning to go to dinner and the Symphony downtown Seattle tonight for our anniversary. This was before we found out yesterday about the crew coming today! Hope we can still go. Cathy; hope the shot helps the finger, is it a finger you have to use a lot with the harp? The camp sounds fun! Faye; sounds like tomorrow will be a busy day! Amy; I've never really jumped the horses before - just over logs on trails and some small jumps set up in the arena for fun. When I was young, we used to jump my sisters horse bare back! Renee is in her early 30's. I was surprised she wanted to go off riding when she couldn't control the horse at all lol! Barb; have a nice time with ddil, she sounds sweet to make the extra 2 hr effort! Beth; glad you've been walking, sorry about the baby bird. Glad coco is adjusting well. Dutch; my dgd, 3 year old always seems to have a cold, runny nose, cough, I think it just comes with childhood! Hope he's getting better! Are you still looking for another job? HAGD everyone! btw- love this group!!

Hi, all! Faye, what Libby said...busy day tomorrow. How do you do Pilates AND yoga in the same day? They call it Redwood Music Camp, this one is for 18 and older (kids camp is the following week), there are different disciplines. Harp, obviously, fiddle, guitar, pipes, woodwinds (flutes, pennywshistle)...pretty immersive. It's next weekend, Thur-Sun. I think the pet sitter wants to stay overnight as she is renting her house due to UC Santa Cruz grad is next weekend as well. I can scan Southwind for you and send you a copy. There are versions of it on YouTube. We're working on my left-handed cross-under Amy, good for you! I always found it hard to judge sometimes when to speed up and when to hold re: distance to fences. Sounds like you are also progressing with the staircase! Libby, did you get a big sink? I love the undermount approach...so easy to wipe stuff directly into the sink. I hope you get to go tonight and celebrate your anniversary! Congrats Barb, yeah, there always seems to be more crap to take the place of the crap you get rid of. I love the April spring cleaning event where you can toss unlimited stuff, and the donation groups that come around for pick-ups. I'd be thigh high in junk if it wasn't for those groups. Enjoy lunch w/DDIL...sounds fascinating! Hi to Beth and Dutch! Still hasn't rained...it's only 30% so it's anyone's guess if it's going to rain. Hope to swim today. Cat was low energy yesterday so I kind of freaked out since it could be a sign of hypoglycemia. Gave her some cream cheese...I think it was mostly her high activity the night before and not eating much breakfast. Cathy
