I caught myself eating the strawberries that I had cut a part off of because it was mushy or didn't look good. Will need to work on "it's about the habit, not the calories". We went to the movies and I ordered a coffee, which I dutifully started once we were seated. Patting myself on the back for that I will have to set myself an alarm on my cell phone to read my ARC. I had wanted to avoid that because there just aren't universally good times in my day (I teach on a free-lance basis), but I am just not doing it as often as I would like. So I will just have to keep picking the next good time and set the new alarm accordingly.

I do eat some standing up but I think my biggest issue right now is how we eat. Always on the run - we may not eat in the car but we are still wolfing it down to get from one place to the next or I'm eating in front of my computer and not paying attention to what is going in my mouth!
I do need to change my ARC readings from later in the morning to while I'm drying my hair or something. I get busy or I'm in a meeting when my alarm goes off and I put if off. Later in the evening I realize I never read them!
So I'm changing that up and trying to be more aware of what I'm eating.

Like others, I've found that I do usually eat sitting down, but I realized it is not usually mindful. I am going to make a commitment to sit at the table to eat meals and banish my dog to another room as I usually spend most of my meal trying to keep him from begging.
I also always eat breakfast and lunch at my desk at work while checking emails or catching up on social media. I've noticed especially with lunch that I often still feel hungry after eating and in sure this is because I never pay attention to the food and it is gone before I even realize it. I'm going to start eating lunch out in the cafe instead of at my desk so I can be more present and mindful of what I'm putting in my mouth.
Finally, I do eat breakfast in my car a few times a week if I go through the drive through for coffee and a bagel. I've been trying to cut back on that habit anyway so now if I do go I'll make sure to save it until I get to work and can eat at a table with no distractions.

I was on vacation and had to catch up, thank heavens for the slower pace. I LOVE the "sit yo ass down" reminder. Funny helps make it seem less like a chore.

I feel like I've been doing a pretty good job with sitting to eat. I did catch myself earlier taking a bite of my food while I carried it to the table and said "no more of that."

I caught myself taking a bite of my hotdog before I was seated. As soon as I realized it, I didn't allow myself to chew it until I was seated. Win? :-)

I have a habit of eating things like hardboiled eggs over the sink, so the salt can fall in the sink. Same with corn on the cob, a fresh tomato, etc. So this weekend I really worked on sitting down with my food, which meant using a lot more plates than usual. As a result, I have a full dishwasher! Only the bottom rack, so it looks a bit silly.
But I'm happy with how mindful I was, which has always been a struggle for me.

Only once this weekend did I catch myself eating something while standing - licking the yogurt container foil lid as I tossed it in the trash.
I'd love to say I have this under control, but seriously, it's my dogs. If I had pretzels in my hand and walked across the kitchen I'm sure they'd trip me.

I don't do this much but things came to mind as I read other posts, such as eating berries while easing them, eating plums as I am picking them off the tree, etc. And then someone just mentioned licking the yogurt foil, and I do that all the time.
This is really making me more aware of actions.

When I read this chapter, I though it didn't really pertain to me. Now that I am consciously aware of eating standing up, I'm surprised how often I find myself almost doing it! An eye-opener for me!

I usually sit while eating. But it's on the couch In Front of the TV, at my desk, or worse in the car. I will pay more attention to bites as I cook. I think I will also try looking at where I sit and being more mindful. Once I get home though. I'm travelling on business so dono have a lot of control of my environment.....
