Lucy has gone camping with Heidi and her DH in eastern Washington. They will be back Thursday evening. Rosie isn't a happy camper being by herself. Went out to give her an apple and she didn't touch it! Pacing and calling most of the day. She was quiet thru the night and morning. I'll bring her to Open Arena today, which I am hosting at our horse club from 4 - 8 pm, helped at the barrel series last night, was fun seeing some people I haven't seen in a while! Some of those horses are coo coo and a lot of the people don't wear helmets- go figure! Gaming people are stupid when it comes to their safety- that's all I can say I'm turning out, cleaning stalls and feeding 5 horses for Heidi while she is gone. Someone else feeds them in the morning after I lay out all the food. She has two horses there that are dangerous. I really don't like handling them. Her wild horse who doesn't trust anybody and a boarder OTT who pranced, snorted and ran thru gates when I lead him and then bolted and kicked out at me as I turned it out to run, buck, rear and act like a bronc for at least 10 minutes. Interesting he was an angel when I put him away. That horse needs 24/7 turn out! Another boarder horse nipped at me with his ears back when I tried to get his fly mask on. She can't get back too quickly for me! The counter top guy was here for 3 hours yesterday measuring. He said it will be one - 2 weeks before they put it in and that will take 4 - 5 hours! Wave to all!

Hi, all! Tracking: yes Libby, I'd say "then do without your fly mask, jerk" to the horse, and maybe their owner. I've taken care of small barns in the past and I find yelling works best (might be a stress-release?). I hope Lucy does well on her trip! Maybe Rosie will get pooped at the OPen Arena and be more restful for the day! Faye, sounds like you're a regular to NYC. I've only been there once and it was for work. Have a good lesson. Amy, have fun at the show! I know it will be stressful but try to enjoy. Glad the scale behaved this morning...it's funny how tracking works...what's up with that Barb, has it started to cool off back East now? Hi to Beth and Dutch! Will be cleaning today since I'll be gone this weekend. Have a couple of errands to run then I'll get to it. Cabinets done, no word yet from insurance or contractor, but isn't that the norm Cathy

LIBBY-I'm with Cathy on the fly mask. be careful. maybe wear a helmet turning them out. and armor! geez. Hope Lucy has fun at camp. sorry Rosie is lonely. good luck with the counter. so did you get the hands free faucet? I think you said you found one. CATHY-yes, love NY. I'm originally a girl from the Bronx so went to NY just for a haircut. went to college in the city, too. in HS there was a bunch of us that went to the TKTS line (cheap same day broadway tickets) and would see a show. so NY is home to me. My mother took me to Leonard Bernstein young people's concert and we took DD when she was little (another conductor by then ) Sorry about the contractor. did you get drawer pulls? the cabinets look great. goes well with the mat too. Had a really good harp lesson, worked on relaxing and then some other songs. AMY-I once did an oxer when i was in my teens that was a blue castle. just loved it. can still picture it. are your oxer 2 verticals near each other or a "thing" like a castle or barrel? have fun. any movement on finding a lighter jacket? DUTCH-yes, Barb remembered, any word on that interview you went on? hope you are feeling better BETH-will you have Bible study next year? I think we may be doing Leviticus. it starts again after the Jewish holidays but I'll probably miss one or 2 because we are planning on going to France for a week in the Fall. Can't believe it. going to visit relatives and do some sightseeing. I've been to England many years ago and Switzerland but never Paris. I'm very excited and nervous at the same time. Haven't been on that long a flight for , well, decades! BARB-hope you got to ride. turned into a nice day. waving to all. HAGD

HI all - just realized I missed yesterday! Amy - you sound like you have a great attitude for the first show in the new division. Just go with the flow & know that Lukas will take care of you -keep us posted (of course)
Cathy - nice job on the cabinets.
Dutch is your house healthy yet? Summer colds are the worst!
Faye- it is nice that you can get to "the city" so often -even growing up on LI -while my DF worked there I rarely went in -only to shop at Millers (horse stuff) and the National Horse show. Guess I'm just not a city girl! Never been to Statue of Liberty & only finally went to Empire State Building (my DF's office was around the corner!) until my first marriage!
Libby -Nice that you let Lucy go camping! Is Rosie settling down?
Beth -how are you feeling? Is DH finished w/ all his school stuff now?
My friend from a couple of weeks ago trucked in again yesterday -we had a nice 1.5 hour ride -did about 5 miles -did some trotting but we both agreed that cantering might wake up the "race instinct" and opted not to yet. it was cool and only slightly buggy. We had never talked ages (she knew mine) but I asked her "how young are you!?" She is same age as my DS -30! but she said she always felt like an old soul & didn't think I was 65! And yes she still wants to come ride with us! Next week I am going out to her place (not w/Penny!) as she has a "gentlewoman's" farm -sheep, goats, cow, bees etc - makes soap, cheese, honey and more -should be an interesting day.
No big plans today -DH off to golf -ride w/ Dee after her work at 1 -i have the house to myself (!) which is something I rarely have.
HAGD - ride if you can - CBL

Hi All,
The spindles and surrounding wood that I wanted to pain are done! Primer and 2 coats of paint. I still have more to do on the project but it feels good to have that part out of the way. I think the other parts will go faster (but I always think things will go faster).
Lukas was a good boy for our lesson. It was sunny and hot. We did walk breaks and jump "rounds" were 4 jumps. I think I am ready for Sunday as long as I can relax and not get too stiff and nervous. I am hoping the judge excuses jackets since I haven't bought one yet.
I am going shoe shopping this afternoon. I need a pair of basic tan flat sandals and I could use some navy espadrilles if I can find them. I usually have luck at the outlet shops in Hershey where there are several shoe stores.

Hi again,
Libby- fun for Lucy to go camping. Maybe Rosie needs a goat friend? Not really, but if you ever wanted a goat it is a good excuse. I like goats so maybe it is good that I don't have rural property I would end up with a "petting zoo". It is a good sign that it took so long to measure the countertops. Measuring is key.
Cathy- It has been so long I kind of forget what damaged the garage in the first place, broken pipe?
Barb-Wow, what an interesting friend! Horses tend to bring people of all ages together as friends. It is a strong connection to have in common.
Faye- Paris! how exciting. I think I am more of a "country girl" at heart but enjoy the adventure of visiting the city. Just wouldn't want to live in a big city. I did live and work in Baltimore for 4 years while my DH was in dental school. I could see living in a small city in old age where I could walk or take public transit to a lot of things. Who knows what the future will bring.
Dutch- how does DS like his new pre-school program?
Beth- I am enjoying the bird cam but when she feeds the baby I get worried if the youngest one doesn't get as much because the bigger ones crowd him out. I am going to go check on them now.

BARB-I went to optometry school down the block from Millers (and Kaufman's was across the street ) I'd go on my lunch to walk around! Fun friend, enjoy. and enjoy the house. I never went to the Statue of Liberty, only got to Ellis island because i was a chaperone for DD's class one year. Did do the Empire State building . I was a temp . secretary for a while in my HS and college days for summers so worked all over the city. Went to school in the city so it's second nature to me. Loved doing the Christmas windows when I was a kid with my mother. And Lord and Taylor used to have a wonderful restaurant called the Bird Cage. a very Ladies Lunch in the 60s kind of place AMY-I love the convenience and museums etc of the city but love the trees and quiet of the suburbs. When we moved here the thing i loved the best was parking. Every place had a parking lot. It was heaven!! glad the painting is moving along and you are pleased. We would go to Hershey for Candy Land when DD was younger and we still go occasionally for a weekend here and there. so I know the outlets, we never went, I don't think, just the park and the related areas. happy shopping CATHY-did you have your harp lesson or is that today? LIBBY - I hope Lucy is enjoying camp with Heidi and her DH. hope Rosie is settling down. Bet she'll be happy to see Lucy. I liked the new trainer so signed up for a series of 10 ( i do 30 min once a week) so we'll see how it goes. Waving to DUTCH, BETH,and ATF. HAGD

Hi horse lovers, I posted on the quick comments on peoples previous posts Beth; how are you doing? Still walking? Barb; is your df doing well still? Faye; love visiting Seattle, NY is bigger! Dutch; I hope your all getting healthy, goes with the kid territory lol, sometimes I get sick after visiting the preschools. Cathy; love the color of you cabinets! great job. My contractor is actually coming over to have lunch with my dh today and they are going to map out the rest of the project. He also wants dh to start bidding kitchens for him- he like what dh did with our kitchen so well! Amy; you go girl on the jumping! I hosted open arena last evening, only 2 people showed up. DH, DS came with me and we brought lawn chairs and had dinner there. I had fun riding Rosie around. She headed straight for the trails, which need some trimming work badly. Did some arena work, lead changes and actually ran the barrels at a canter, increasing speed at the end. It was fun! I think she would be a lunatic if I actually raced her! Drs. appointments w/ds today and it's raining, so if I have time I'll paint the kitchen pantry, which I only have primer on. HAGD

Hi, all! Tracking: yes Faye, I love that NYC is 'home' to you in a way. The one time I went, we stayed in a really nice hotel, had a great dinner there. The hosting client said that folks could choose whatever evening adventure they wanted so a few of us went to go see Ms Saigon (?); it was one of the shows at the time where you could get tix at the last minute. Saw Times Square walking around (so hotel must of been near there), but sure glad we had drivers for to and from the airport! Barb, sounds like a lovely woman...have fun exploring her "farm"...sounds fascinating! Glad you had a good ride Amy, way to go on the spindles...I agree, I think the rest will be marginally easier. I ended up having to wear a wrist brace, the sanding makes my carpel tunnel act up Good luck at the show! Libby, sounds like open arena was fun...did Rosie settle down at the end of the day or she still wondering where Lucy is? And Barb was right...a 17yo horse can find a perfect 'nother home Hi to Beth and Dutch! Spent most of yesterday cleaning so pretty tired (having the pet sitter stay overnight is extra work, didn't really bargain for that...I should charge her ). Made 2 batches of brownies for the weekend and chicken for the kitty. Konked out pretty quickly last night. The insurance agent called, said it appears that I didn't want the contractor to do the drywall work, that I would use my own. I never said that to anyone and told her so. She was like "huh, wonder why they told me that". So she was going to follow-up with them, which meant I got another phone call a couple of hours later from the contractor and they said they thought I was going to use my own handyman. Again, don't know why they thought this except that everyone told me they didn't have the time, which I told her. She's supposed to send me paperwork and apparently I have to pay them up-front. We'll see...it would be lovely to find a handyman in the interim and just use someone else I probably won't post for the weekend...heading to music camp this afternoon and won't be back until Sunday afternoon. Have a nice weekend, and I wish all the daddy's Happy Father's Day! Cathy

CATHY-have fun at music camp! funny, there's a revival now of MIss Saigon! maybe you stayed at the Marriot Marquis, it's around times square. nice hotel. has a theater in it. LIBBY-sorry that OTT keeps nipping. when are you done taking care of them. how's the other horse? hope all goes well at DS appt. good luck with the cabinets if you get to them
tracked yesterday but went over. Today is a lost cause. Will try again tomorrow.
waving to all. HAGD

Good afternoon. DH went to the orthopedic dr on tuesday with his left knee hurting. Had an MRI yesterday and got the results today which showed a torn meniscus. He has had considerable pain in it the last two weeks. So much so that it has affected his sleep which affects my sleep since when he doesn't sleep then I don't sleep. He goes back to the dr on the 20th to schedule surgery. My knee has been doing about the same as always which is some burning pain once in awhile but not too bad. WE found out today that Coco's vet is the same one we use so we are in the process of getting all his paperwork transferred to our name. The previous owner's sister has to call to confirm the the previous owner passed away and Coco was given to us. cams.allaboutbirds.org/channel/27/Hellgate_Ospreys/. The river there has been high and fast which makes fishing difficult for the birds. The littlest chick doesn't get as much food as the two older ones. This is Mother Nature in the raw which makes it sometimes hard to watch.

Hi All, Tracking yes.
Went to the gym and tried a new class.
I bought 5 pairs of shoes today. Which is a lot for me, or anyone I guess. Bass was having a big clearance sale so leather sandals for $20 and $25 dollars. Clarks was having, buy a pair get a pair for $10 so of course you have to find a second pair. Clarks are so comfortable.
Then I stopped by Talbots Outlet and did well there too. 4 tops and 2 dresses. I don't shop very often so this should be it for quite a while. I did need some new clothes and I love to wear dresses in the summer.
Beth- that is nice that it is a vet with whom you are already familiar. I hope DH does well with his surgery. I guess this is a good time to do it while school is out.
Going to go check the bird cam.

HI all - last session for this session of Upreach - the client I have been working w/for the past 5 or so months is taking the summer off -it has been the same 3 women (all early 20's) for this time -I don't know what their handicaps are -all seem somewhat delayed but functioning. I made all 3 of them little glass horse pendants and gave them to them today - they were all thrilled!
Kind of hazy here today- supposed to rain -then tomorrow and most of next week -ugh- Faye- no shows until 7/22 - a new one day show -it's the NH British Car Club outing -my friend is a member -they have over 125 cars there and supposedly a large portion of women owners -plus the people who come to see the cars -they always have vendors so i figured why not (it only cost me $25 to do it!)
No big fathers day plans -when your kid is not around it is just another Sunday -we will most likely go somewhere (DH choice) for lunch or dinner!
Have to go do battle (!) with airlines -want to go to Houston in Oct to see DS & DDIL so trying to figure out the best fares -
Waving to all - HAGD

Hi All, tracking yes, down 1.6 lbs. so the extra gym time and tracking is working. Now if I can just keep it up. Not "new weight" yet but I am hopeful.
Libby- I hate it when I lose a post. can't wait to hear what you wanted to tell us. Maybe a small goat? LOL
Faye-the new class was good. the instructor kept saying it was going to be a very different workout then her usual class so I guess next week I will find out what the class is really like?
Cathy- hope you are enjoying camp.
Barb- so nice of you to make little pendants! I am sure they mean a lot to the riders.
Beth- are you eating anything out of the garden yet?
Dutch- hope things are going well for you.
Had a nice ride on Lukas today. tomorrow is show prep and then the show on Sunday, can't wait!

Good evening. Went to DH's parents for Father's Day today to avoid all the family drama tomorrow. As to walking... if it's not raining I walk most mornings. I'm up to 3 miles at a speed of 3.0-3.1mph. Still not up to the 3.4-3.5mph I was at but getting there slowly. I haven't been in the garden for 3 days. I need to check it tomorrow.

Hi to all,
Tracking yes.
Don't have to leave until 10:00am for the show, So a little bit later start. I made a steak dinner last night for DH since I probably won't be home in time for dinner today. I got DH a card and a nice ice cream scoop from Pampered Chef and some fancy flavor ice cream.
Beth- smart to avoid the family drama and still get to see DH parents. I am sure they don't like the drama either.
Libby- glad Lucy is back, hope she had fun! So great that you had a happy birthday!
Faye- It is hard sometimes to pick out things like carpet but you will know it when you see it. We are still trying to pick out carpet runner for the stair project. Keep on tracking! Enjoy the City. (hope the repair person is nice)
Cathy- I hope camp has been fun so far.
Dutch- hope you are doing well.
Barb- I have never seen that kind of fly mask, sounds good for the trail where flies can get real bad. I have a fly mask with ears that was made to fit under a bridle that I bought for Rueben but I haven't tried it with Lukas yet. I rode out more on Rueben. So far the fly spray has been enough with Lukas. I have started using the Tractor Supply brand of fly spray it seems to work as well as the expensive stuff.
I am excited for the show today they are calling for T-storms later in the day but hopefully I will be done before then.

Happy Father's Day. Sadly all the chicks at the Montana nest site perished from starvation. They had so much rain that the rivers were constantly running high, fast and muddy making it very difficult for the birds to fish in as they strictly eat fish. There is another nest site that I'm watching and watched last year in Maine. explore.org/live-cams/player/osprey-nestThey have 3 chicks that are thriving and growing like weeds. Getting ready for church.
