Hi all - I tried to upload the pic of Penny in her mask but it was too big -will try to resize and do again! ( it is on FB) She was great about it -it fit really well -no bugs on her neck or face or ears! woo hoo - Libby - so after all it sounds like you are getting a good deal on the countertop. Wow - that is scary about that fall-would be interesting to hear how it happened -glad they both are ok. Nice about your ring -
Dutch -I love my Wintec synthetic -yes, light and if i get caught in rain -who cares? Funny story -years ago I had a cheaper synthetic saddle when I boarded at a friends house. She & another woman who would ride w/ us used to kid me about my synthetic -until....one night someone broke into her barn & stole the 2 leather saddles & left mine! hahaha!
Amy -congrats on your anniversary -
Dutch -hope you can finally get this cold/allergy under control.
Beth -I was at my new riding friend's "farm" today & she hay plants too! it was pretty cool!
Her farm is very neat - she raises ducks, chickens, turkeys, one cow for eggs & food -makes soaps & butters to sell -just a little of this & a little of that! Her cow is so cute -they handle him every day -I asked her (kidding) how can you look in those eyes & then eat him? (remember I don't eat meat)! We are going to try to do something together with her soaps & my small dishes at the holidays. Her DH is a farrier & does the farm stuff with her -it's very nice.
Did a short ride again this morning -tomorrow I am taking Tundra to a woman down the road who does agility to see if we can do some stuff with her again. Tundra needs a job!

Good morning. Raining off and on again. I need to check the garden. Maybe it will quit raining for a little while. As to the bird cam... the question was raised about feathers. They are growing their feathers as they are getting bigger. If you watch long enough sometimes the camera will pan down real close especially when they are being fed and you can see the pin feathers growing in. It was at this nest last year when the chicks were close to fledging that an eagle swooped down on the nest and got one of the chicks. Nature isn't kind but is a wonder to watch.

Hi, all! Tracking yes. Faye, yup, got in my swimming. They have "Family Swim" where they are allowed in one lane, one of the larger outside lanes, that's it. Of course, no one wants to swim NEXT to that lane because the kids tend to lose control of their toys Beth, is it better to have rain or none? It saves on the water bill but can put a crimp in outdoor activities. I used to watch a lot of those nature shows, but can only take so much "survival of the fittest" Barb, hope Tundra gets a nice workout today! Fly mask is wonderful...did not know they made them so...encompassing! Dutch, sorry for the ickiness. Lots of folks dealing with horrific allergies here...I've been on Claritin for a week, afraid to take myself off! Amy, yes, happy anniversary! You did look really young...like maybe 13 when you got married Hi to Libby! Yeah, nice swim but the pool was a bit warm. Not much of anything else. I have the documents for the contractor, which she sent just before I left last week for camp. I thought I'd try to find someone else but I don't have the energy. It concerns me that I have to pay them BEFORE the work is done. Cathy

Have to brag - Tundra is a rock star! we went through the stuff I had done last year with her -tunnel, jumps (bar & tire) a little clicker (I have not worked her much on that) and balance for the see saw. The trainer was really impressed at what she did -said -yes, she is a very smart -but somewhat stubborn dog! Also worked on "touch" and wait for treat. So I have homework -next lesson next week -
Didn't ride -was supposed to meet Dee at 1:30 - then she said 1:40- so I went around 1:25 as I figured we could clean together - I did the water -then she texted me she was in traffic & would be more like 2 -but had to take a kid to eye dr at 3...... I get it she has 3 kids -full time job -but sometimes it's frustrating -so I texted her that I fed lunch & was leaving the cleaning for her and went home -if i knew I was going to ride alone I would have done it early when it was cooler. (thank you for listening!) Rant over!
DH painting trim on house & mowing lawn -asked me if I wanted pizza or to go out for dinner -YES!

Finally got a little break in the rain which is from the tropical storm that was in the gulf. Everything is soggy and saturated but I did manage to get to the garden. Got 2 cucumbers and 6 green beans. I have some peppers but they are way too small to pick yet. North of us in the Birmingham area there have been several tornadoes which have caused some damage. We're under a tornado watch. It hot humid and muggy. It feels like a sauna outside.

BETH-do you do anything when under a tornado watch to prepare? hope all is well. thanks for the info on the feathers. enjoy your crop. seems like you just planted it and now you brought in some veggies. Be safe. CATHY-you have to pay before the work? ick. I have the Dusty tuner with the Snark. It's ok. I like the Snark. have one too. Don't forget, you can download a tuning app for free on your phone. I like that now the best. and one less thing to bring to a gig. BARB-so pizza or going out or was it going out for pizza? sorry about Dee and meeting up. So what's the reason for teaching Tundra to do things? are you thinking of her being a therapy dog? or just for training ? She sounds like a star

to those in the storm front... hang in there!
Ha! Just back from grooming Ally! Weather is just perfect (for this hour!) right now. Predicted 100 this weekend.
Then I got motivated and bought a cheap saddle pad and bot fly egg knife - oh! and a snaffle bit. So in a few days I'll have more tack than needed for a bit! lol

Good morning. Yes we're safe. Birmingham is about 50=70 miles from us depending which road you take. Here in Tuscaloosa Co. we've just had lots of rain. The ground is saturated and soggy. We're expecting more rain and possible severe storms later this afternoon.
Coco is doing great. I have a grooming question. How often should a Shih Tzu be taken to the groomers? We've always had short haired dogs so this is my first experience with a longer haired dog.

Hi all, tracking no getting back to it today. DH meeting went well last night and it is kind of nice to be sitting in a clean house this morning. Nothing like company to make me focus and get the whole place clean at the same time. I did fit in a quick ride yesterday morning, Lukas was a good boy. I also used a new shedding tool on him that seemed to work pretty well. He is very scared of the clippers or he would be body clipped by now. Barb- your friends farm sounds so cool. I don't know if I could raise an animal and then send it off to be processed. Part of being modern is being removed from our food sources I guess. I think it would be harder to do just one then a herd. One of my friends raises meat chickens but feels OK about it because they have such a good life instead of the lives most chickens live. I know I would name all my chickens so I could only have egg layers if I did it. LOL Beth, It seems to be a very wet season this year but better then drought I guess. I hope the bales do OK. I need to go straighten the laundry room for the repair guy this afternoon. TTYL Amy

Hi, all...tracking, yes. Managed to stay at the same WL even after all the food last weekend! We ate well at meals but no snacking so I think that saved me! Faye, I have heard about tuning apps...which one do you like? I had problems with my tuner in a group because it couldn't figure out which sound to listen to. I like that the Snarks use vibration so you could be tuning next to someone w/o issues. One woman SAID she's going to have us over more regularly...we'll see. Barb, how fun that Tundra remembered her lessons...at least, most of it! I hear ya re: the person you were to meet up with. A little forethought would be nice, right? Beth, do you have a basement? Is that where you would go in case of a tornado? Not many basements out here in CA. I used to love my G-ma's place in Lansing...loved the smell of an old basement. Amy, it IS nice to have clean place, isn't it! I spend time cleaning before I go somewhere because it's nice to come home to clean What's wrong with the laundry? Dutch, is Ally shedding? I got home from camp last Sunday and the cat was in full shed mode...I guess the hot weather spiked it or something. Sounds like a bunch of new horsey things are on their way Libby? Where are you? So now the delays in the dry wall is on me...I've finally printed everything out, just sort of balking at sending them a check Will walk with friend and her dog this afternoon. Walked yesterday, in the high 70's. Was talking to a coworker over the hill and it was over 100! So nice to have some cooling affect from the ocean here Cathy

CATHY-InsTuner Free-chromatic tuner. and I just use the free app, didn't upgrade. I like it . the avatar is a blue and orange background with an A# in white. the Snark should help with the background noise. I clip it on the tuning pin and move it every few strings I do. I don't bother moving it for every string but I like to be within a few strings of it. For my regular tuner I have a pickup so it clips to the harp. I find the app my favorite. Can't blame you for not wanted to send the check but you need to be done with this. (just sayin') enjoy the walk
BETH- so glad you are ok. glad Coco is doing so well.
AMY-just get right back on the tracking wagon. I find after 1-2 days of not saying "tracking, yes" with you guys I feel bad and get back on track. So we are here for each other and we all have good and bad days. I find though that even if I track and then stop I sort of do ok the rest of the day (by ok, i mean i don't go too crazy , but I do go over the daily pt. limit). I'm with you about the farm and eating something I would probably name and talk too, I was never good at picking a lobster from a tank LOL PS-I feel the same when I have company and put stuff away. I will say I do my floors and cleaning when i have yoga so that helps keep me with a schedule.
BARB-i feel like I haven't seen the sun in days. gloomy and dark and more rain for tomorrow, but Sunday should be nice.
Waving to all. HAGD

Faye; I think we have your sunshine! It's been really nice here! Amy; I'm still struggling with tracking also, do great in the morning then bam late afternoon evening I lose it! Cathy; I don't blame you for not wanting to pay first! I had to do that with the countertops-now they aren't coming to install until July 11th! I have my new sink in a box in my living room-The floor is my fault, I can't make up my mind on color! Barb; that fly mask looks awesome! Penny looks all ears lol! Dutch; it's fun to get new tack!! Beth; glad your ok and got some veggies ;0) I've been pretty busy with dgd's 9 yo and 3 yo. Lots of activities, company, gave horseback rides (leading only) to 5 kids last night all relative and had pizza and s'mores then they all went in to hot tub-it was fun and busy! The horses were great! my dnephew lead Lucy around, he did well for not knowing horses - my ngn got his foot caught on the rail gate as Lucy was lead too close out of the arena gate, pulled the rail about 4 feet - Lucy didn't spook to badly, Rosie ignored it and everything was OK- phew! learned my lesson, dismount the kids before leaving the arena! Have a birthday party for other dgd today, will go early and help dd with decorating, she got a new huge pool and a trampoline! I was a little surprised at the trampoline, it has all the safety stuff on it. DD and her husband got full custody of dgd about 5 months ago, they are going hog wild with excitement, this is the first time they have had her for her real birthday! She is turning 12 yo HAGD everyone!

Good Day! Libby - sounds like you are keeping busy -your barn/ring must really be a busy place these days - glad the "girls" are behaving themselves and didn't spook! All the kids around must be fun - enjoy (I'm jealous-DS & DDIL don't seem to be in any hurry -their 4 yr anniversary is next week -it's time! )
Faye- it has been pretty dismal here as well- a bit of sun then rain/muggy -repeat! We rode early this morning (8:30) a few rain drops hit us but we did a quick ride in the part of the trail that is tree covered. then took Tundra to the park -as the rain stopped again -they SAY the sun will come out -tomorrow (wait -isn't that a song? )
Dutch -did you try any of the new stuff on Ally yet? I know you haven't backed her yet but do you put the saddle on anyway or wait? how are you (and DS) feeling?
Cathy- what an ordeal this has been for you -think you'll miss all of it when done? guessing not -well July 11 isn't that far off - guess it's kind of hot by you? Keep cool
Amy -have you taken Lukas out on "trail" any more -when is your next lesson/show? I've been trotting Penny over some cavalettis as I think it helps her hind end on the trail when she has to walk over even a small limb -her hind end definitely has something going on -and she seems better after the lunging. Just now it's so darn muggy -don't even want to do that!
Beth- glad you are safe and dry -Sounds like all the critters are settling in with the new addition -our garden is still weeks away from producing -we usually get stuff late Aug into early Oct!
off to play in studio -too hot/muggy to do anything else -thank goodness for a/c! Waving to all - HAGD -

Hi, all, tracking yes. Faye, thanks for the app name. I will look it up, got the Snark today so will give it a whorl! Yeah, I'll put the check and the paperwork in the mail this weekend Beth, ah, the bathroom approach for tornados! It's hard here sometimes with earthquakes...too many windows, have to find a doorway or heavy furniture you can get under. Libby, glad the girls - both human and nonhuman - are keeping you busy! Sounds like lots a fun. Glad DD got dgd...how exciting to have a birthday with her...is dgd excited to be with them? OR can you even tell? Dutch, yeah, we'd gets bots periodically but not too frequently...so infrequent we'd just pull them off Hi to Amy! Phase 2 of the cabinet work is today. I'm going to take out the old shelf liner and replace it, I also bought a 'tray' thingy on sliders for under the sink so I can get at stuff better. Don't think I'll get that in today...shelf liner is a b$Y@*#. Cathy

CATHY-good luck with the shelf liners. BARB-tomorrow hopefully will be nice. DD and DH go to the Old Timer's Yankee game. glad you rode. hope it dries out. LIBBY-sounds like lots of fun at your house. HB to DGD. glad your weather is nice. DUTCH-any more Ally time? how's the saddle? AMY-working on anything new with Lukas? how's his mane? is it falling to the side you want now? BETH-did you eat any of your veggies yet? wish I could grow some but too many backyard critters and don't want to do fences. besides, not allow to put up fences tall enough to keep out deer.

Hi Horse Friends,
Tracking no , yesterday was our anniversary dinner so I ate what I wanted and had ice cream too. Back on it today. No wonder I can never get new weight off. LOL
It has been a cycle of storms and sun the past few days so super humid. Try to ride early when I go.
Lukas and I are doing a local schooling show on Wednesday evening. My 68 year old barn friend decided she would like to try a show. I told our trainer I would go too in support of my friend. Also, I can use the practice. I hope my friend has fun, she is the only non-showing rider at the barn right now so I think she wanted a chance too. She showed when she was younger but it has been many years.
The biggest change in my horsey life is that my winter trainer and his wife are moving to GA. They found a nice farm there and have been wanting a warmer climate for years. I will miss having my trainer around. He was my original trainer when I started riding as an adult 6 years ago. Taught me how to really ride and how to jump. Did my first show on his lesson horse and he helped me buy my first horse. I am feeling very nostalgic. He sold his huge show stables a few years back and introduced me to my current trainer. His new barn is 10 stalls and a big outdoor arena. He will have a lesson program and probably some boarders. His wife is younger and still rides and shows. It is a great move for them, but they will be missed. He moves in July but I hope to have him out for at least one more lesson before he goes.
HAGD Amy
